About this cottage rental
Treetops is a cute Caribbean style timber house newly built with open-plan living and surrounded by nature. Inside the open space feels light and airy with a high ceiling lots of shutters doors and fans allowing the breeze though to keep the cottage cool.
Outside the roofed deck gives you space to relax or dine with a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea just 100 yards away. The trees surround you with nature and give you a feeling of seclusion. The deck is perfect to watch the birds and overlook the pelicans in the bay diving for fish. Every morning you wake in the four poster bed to watch the sailing boats cross the bay on their way to Guadaloupe. The cottage overlooks a sweeping canopy of almond and palm trees down to the coastline just 100 metres away. In the evening you can relax and watch the sunset and then later open the awning on the balcony to star gaze in the night sky. As you can imagine it is a very special place to stay.
Treetops sleeps 2 guests in an open plan area. The cottage is new and designed in the Caribbean style which feels fresh and bright. The four poster bed is queen-size with a ceiling fan above. Doors and shutters open out onto the deck and balcony with spectacular views of the sea and rainforest landscape. The bed has a quality mattress, quality bedding and draped mosquito nets. The seating area has a comfortable couch and coffee table.
The bathroom is so cute. The shower cubicle is built of wood and feels like you are in a rainforest spa. You have the option of instant hot shower or a cold rain shower, and even have slats to overlook the rainforest as you shower. Truly a relaxing space.
The kitchen is well equipped and beautifully built locally with mahogany worktops. It has a stove, fridge-freezer, coffee caffatiere, toaster, kettle and all the glassware, crockery and cookware needed for your stay. Even standing at the sink you have a wonderful view of the bay.
The cool breeze and sounds of nature fill this light-filled airy living space with stunning views in every direction. The cottage is also practical with easy access down the steps from the road and all the facilities that you will need to make you feel comfortable during your stay.
Once inside you are drawn to the deck and the view of the sea just 100 yards away over the treetops.
Location is important and Treetops is a 1 minute walk to 'Keeping it real' a highly regarded fish and lobster restaurant and bar. Toucari has a couple of small local rum shops. Portsmouth is only a 10 minute drive where you will find grocery shopping and lots of restaurants.

We enjoyed staying in an area that was very walkable. Liked walking down for dinner and banana cake in the morning.

Treetops was like a treehouse. Toucari is a gorgeous town on a bay with excellent snorkeling which is why I chose it. The only problem we had was three weekend nights when the bars down on the main road blasted music. And this music had a very fast beat and was disturbing. We were trying to sleep and it was impossible. We did go to bed early though. Not sure when they finally stopped. I checked the time on the third night and it was 10:00 pm.

Cute as can be! Clean too. Perfect location to walk to beach. Keepin It Real restaurant is excellent food. Owner, Derrick very nice.
Caso and Christine extremely helpful. Enjoyed the people who live there in Toucari Bay.

As advertised... beautiful views
We had a relaxing time at Treetops. The place was as advertised, very cozy with beautiful views. We spent much of our time enjoying the views and nature from the balcony. I had to bring work and found it very peaceful to sit on the balcony and work. The Wi-Fi worked well. We went swimming in the Bay often, and the water was great. Definitely a good place for snorkelling and scuba diving. Disappointed by Keepin’ It Real (served dry, rubbery lobster; he had closed for two days prior for a funeral).
We did not use Caso’s services as planned. We wanted to go fishing, but Caso’s boat needed repairs. He didn’t pick us up at the airport as arranged (the lovely Alan and Ellie did), because he was busy doing something else. He drove us when we were leaving, picking up his girlfriend, and then dropping us… he had his phone with him in the car. After we were dropped off, our Air Antilles flight was cancelled… we called him (he would not have been far), but no answer to calls or text (we said the flight was cancelled)… hours later, he claimed in text that he had left his phone at home to charge. This was not true. We feel he was “getting busy” with his girlfriend. After being abandoned by Caso, we called the couple who picked us up when we arrived… they came and helped us find affordable accommodation near the airport, and did not want anything in return (we did pay them—they were so helpful, caring and really did go out of their way for us).
TIPS:
1) Bring bug spray… Kate had mentioned in the binder left for guests to spray the netting around the bed about two hours before sleeping… it really does work to keep the mosquitoes and other bugs at bay.
2) Bring some warmer clothing… long-sleeved tops, light sweaters… It gets cooler at night, but is nice for walks by the Bay.
3) Places in Portsmouth & Toucari Bay often do not list prices, and tourists are charged more. The IGA in Portsmouth lists prices.
4) If you are doing your own cooking, bring what you know you would miss… not everything is available.
5) Local chicken is delicious! They are truly free run chicken.
6) It rains often (it is a tropical country after all), but it does not last long… I brought a large anorak with a hood.
7) If your plane is cancelled, the airline might not help you. Melville Hall Airport closes at 8 p.m. News travels fast of any cancelled, so some drivers and resort owners will come, offering very high prices. Nearby Marigot has reasonable accommodation.

Excellent
Had a fantastic time at Treetops cottage in Toucari Bay. Finished our tour of Dominica in Treetops and it lived up to everything it said in the advert. The house was clean and well equipped and the views of Toucari bay from the terraces were stunning. The beach was good and the sea was refreshing and very welcoming after a day exploring the island. The small group of Toucari Bay locals were very friendly and welcoming towards us.
Treetops does not have air conditioning but the fans were sufficient to keep us cool.
We enjoyed every minute of our holiday in Dominica and if/when we visit the island again we would definitely return to Treetops.

Treetop offered us a clean absolutely beautiful view of Toucari bay.
Kate and Andy offer an immaculate and functional cottage with a comfortable deck to see the locals coming and going. They are well connected to the community and provided us with good advice when we needed it. The accommodations are lovely;we never tired of the view of the bay. We learned to enjoy the local guide, Caso, who helped us select and navigate Syndicate Falls and took us to the nearby shipwreck. We highly recommend engaging him; he will not disappoint you. Try the lobster at "Keepin It Real" and chill out with a satisfying Presidente beer. Be sure to wear water shoes when you swim or snorkel.

First week in April
The cottage was beautiful and suited our needs well. The view of the bay was fantastic. We enjoyed our first week feeling very comfortable returning to such a sanctuary every day. Weekends had a party vibe with the music drifting up from the bar at the bay.

Perfect cottage for 2
Treetops was exactly as pictured. It's comfortable and you can tell some thought went into the design. Toucari Bay is a good place to use as a base for day trips in Dominica. You can also just stay local to enjoy swimming, snorkeling, the local water fall or eating at Keepin It Real. Try to arrive in daylight if possible. The driving directions supplied were great, however the roads and signage can be a bit tricky at night.

PARADISE AT TOUCARI BAY
Staying at Treetops was like being in Paradise! We were a 2 minute walk down the hill to the black sand beach and the village of Toucari. Our view was of the Toucari Bay - and because we faced west - we had fabulous sunsets every evening - right from our deck! The small house had everything we needed - a kitchen with all the utensils you might need for holiday cooking - a very comfortable bed with a net around it - a bathroom and shower - an outside water supply to wash off the sand before entering the house, 2 decks, and a comfortable sitting area. We didn't need AC - we kept the windows and doors open at night and with the ceiling fans and the floor fan - it was very comfortable. We bought groceries in Portsmouth on our way through there from the airport. There are several rum shops in Toucari where you can buy only the very basics in groceries. There is a shelf of books in the cottage - we left 2 of ours and also read a few of theirs. Caso was our go-to person whenever we needed information. He is a friendly, knowledgeable, gentle person who was most anxious for us to have a wonderful time. He took us on a hike to some recently discovered falls, he took us snorkelling to the shipwreck and the reef, and a general sail down the coast. Because he has always lived there, he knows a lot! He supplied us with freshly cut coconuts every day - what else could a person want! We loved Treetops and were so sorry when our vacation there was over. It was so relaxing......

Amazing stay..wonderful people of Dominica
My wife and I just returned from Dominica, staying at TreeTops Cottage on Toucari Bay. The cottage was truly amazing, tucked away in the trees among the local community, a very short walk to the bay. The people of Dominica are wonderful. We hiked with Caso and his family, who are wonderful, and spent time at Keepin it Real, eating, swimming and snorkeling. Embrace the driving opportunity, there are numerous beaches, hikes and sites to explore…very much worth the drive.
The TreeTops cottage has everything you need: location, dishes, bedding and the cool night breeze!

Just the best!
This cottage was such a find. It's beautiful, easy to live in, wonderfully constructed and perfectly located. I felt like this was our perfect Caribbean hideaway! We stayed in 3 different places on the island and the others didn't come close. I sincerely cannot recommend Treetops enough. Plus the village, the snorkeling and the locals are all great. Son and Caso looked after us royally - Caso taking us on a brilliant boat trip. Thanks Kate from us both for a truly memorable adventure. Andrew and Elaine

Paradise
I have just had the most amazing trip to Dominica. I adored this cute cottage. Up in the trees but easy to access. I loved the peaceful moments just watching the yachts sail by and the birds in the trees twittering away. We tried to get home every evening for the sunsets on the deck. Treetops has been set up with everything you would need. Nice bedding and towels. Loved the hot shower (unusual for Dominica). We were met by Sun a local guy who made us very welcome. He mentioned his Son did a boat ride in Toucari which we took and snorkelling back across the reef was one of our highlights. We also visited Cabrits and the Indian river and the drive in volcano. Well worth doing. If you are looking for a romantic piece of paradise this is it.

A wonderful place to live
We wanted a romantic getaway and were not disappointed. Surrounded by trees, watching the hummingbirds flitting about and enjoying the perfect sunsets. Treetops was everything we wanted and more. Lovely four-poster bed with quality linens, the well equipped kitchen and a shower with a view of the garden! The whole place is put together perfectly and tastefully decorated. We cannot recommend Treetops enough and hope to be back again sometime.
