We, grandparents, children and grandchild enjoyed our stay. Beautiful property on quiet small lake. Lots of toys and activities for the 3 yr old. Back living room and screened in dining porch were thoroughly enjoyed. Fireplace was so welcome on those chilly September mornings. Kitchen small but functional. Only negatives would be cabin was not very clean. And the 64 steps down to the water was a bit daunting for us seniors and our 3 yr old. Regardless we made great memories and had a restful stay. Thank you for opening up your property to us!

Had such a great time with the family! Cottage was equipped with way more than expected. I had brought some of my sons toys with us but it definitely was not needed. Soo many things for kids to do and super relaxing for the adults. Highly recommend, especially for families!

A cottage that exceeds our expectations. It has everything you will need. It is a place for complete relaxation and fun. It is so beautiful and quiet there. We are always SO sad to leave.

This was our 6th visit to the cottage on Lake St. Peter, which should express how much we enjoy our time there. The cottage is well appointed, the water amazing, the dock/swimming dock perfect for diving and cannonball competitions, and every watercraft you might want to use or try. The hosts are clear, friendly, and communicative, and I heartily recommend this property.

We absolutely loved our stay at this cottage. It really had everything we needed plus more. The lake was quiet and clean, really great for swimming and kayaking. Not much luck fishing but I’m sure there were other good spots close by. The screened in porch was perfect for meals and games nights, we really enjoyed that. Bancroft is a short drive away for groceries and there are lots of cool antique shops between there and maynooth. We also visited the Algonquin park logging museum and Egan chutes (amazing waterfalls), and enjoyed both. Overall we found our stay to be very enjoyable and relaxing, a great family experience!

The cottage and property are very nice, it is very quiet and private. The water is beautiful. The only downside is the amount of stairs to get to it. We had a lovely time.

The cottage was everything that was advertised. Quiet cove on a large lake. It was a very well stocked cottage. Would go here again in a heartbeat

We rented this cottage in the fall with my family and had a great time. The cottage is well-kept with everything you need, even for rainy days, with a huge selection of games and dvds. The real beauty of this place is the location on a quiet bay on Lake St. Peter. Even on windy days, the bay was calm. The lakeside living room has windows all around and the screen room gives you great views and a bug-free outdoor experience in any weather. No problems with internet or cell reception and the Byers were also quick to respond to any questions we had.

Lovely cottage that gives a true wilderness experience, while having a lot of amazing amenities, especially for kids.
Loved it!

Excellent swimming, right off the dock; we also enjoyed the raft. Lake is a great size for canoe exploration with young kids. For rainy days, the cottage had a huge selection of games, puzzles, books and DVDs, for adults and kids alike. Cottage was perfect balance of comfortable and rustic for us. Spent lots of evening time in the screened-in porch and windowed living room; loved the way these rooms felt integrated with the outside world. Scooped Moose ice cream, provincial park with a great beach, and a well-stocked general store each just a few minutes away. Great communication from host.

Beautiful cottage with lake view
We went for my daughter’s birthday and had a lovely time at this cottage. It has the charm of a traditional cottage with all the comfort, and lots of windows to watch the surrounding nature, The lake is just a few steps down and a wonderful place to relax, swim or paddle boat.

amazing, as usual
This was our 4th time here. As always it was absolutely amazing vacation. The cottage, the waterfront, the kids toys and books, tree house, swing set are all perfect for our family. Could do without the deer flies, but its the only downside about this area.

Great place!
The property is very out of the way which is great for discovering the Canadian outdoors with access to the lake. A quick heads-up for international travellers, you need to take bedlinen and bath towels.

Cottage Review
Great cottage feel, clean and has everything you need with a lot of space for a small family. Swiming was good-dear/horse flies not so much being early in the season. Nevertheless, easy to make it a relaxing time away. No stress. Darren is a great host. :)

Fabulous location, lovely and clean cottage
We had a lovely time in this cottage! It’s neat, clean and well supplied with utensils and games. It lies beautifully beteren the trees and the terrace on the way to the lake is stunning. The bay is considerably private, but not too lonely. We would recommend, especially for families, but also as a getaway for a couple.

Amazing family cottage in a convenient location
We are avid visitors to Algonquin Park and so we wanted our family cottage experience to reflect that. We chose this cabin both for it's proximity to the Park and for its range of amenities geared to families.
The cottage was ideally situated for us, making it an easy drive from the Belleville/PEC area. The inside of the cottage wasn't too fancy - I know people like fancy, but when it comes to cottages we prefer older and simple. There was a good amount of space to cook, hang-out, and sleep. We had a couple of cooler days and a bit of rain, and the cottage held us, our games, crafts, snacks, and so forth without issue.
The kitchen was well-appointed and easy to cook/clean. The TV/DVD player was fine for our limited usage. The bathroom was superior and had been renovated. The new addition just completed this summer is a wonderful room, and really makes the cottage spacious without losing its charm. The outside patio was great for meals on sunny days.
Our kids were perpetually entertained with the toys and books that were available, as well as the play structure, the nice lawn for running, and the treehouse. The kids really adored it.
The lake is excellent for swimming either from shore or off the dock. There are a good canoe and kayak, and we used those a lot. Our only reservation was the amount of boat traffic on the lake relative to its size. We canoe in parks, so we found that jarring a few times, but it didn't really impact our pleasure, and the kids thought it was cool to see boats pulling other kids at high speeds.
The hosts are great, they really have thought of everything, and they are really receptive to questions. Overall our experience was nearly perfect, and it will go down as one of our best family holidays.

Perfect for a family vacation!
Our family of four stayed here for one week in late August and had a wonderful time! We have two young kids (ages 7 and 3), and there was so much to do here, they were always busy, even on the last few days of our trip when the weather got a little too chilly for swimming. They loved the large front lawn/play area, and all the games and toys inside too.
My favourite spot was the dining room with the large windows. It was so incredibly peaceful and we enjoyed all of our meals there.
We wanted to find a place that was close to Algonquin park so we could visit for a day, and loved that this cottage was only about 20 minutes away. If you stay, I highly recommend the trip to Algonquin - the drive alone was breathtaking.
Darren was also very helpful and answered any questions I had. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this cottage, especially for young families.

A Parent's Haven!
So many places to relax and still have excellent visibility to our children playing. Loads of games, blocks and books to keep them busy inside. The property was quiet and private and the beach was clean and made for easy swimming. Loved the proximity to Algonquin Park's east gate and we were able to enjoy a day there as well.
Thank you Byers family!

Lovely, Private Spot
We had a fantastic time at the cottage. It was quiet, private, and exactly as advertised. We didn't have the best weather, so it was really nice to be able to spend time on the covered porch when we couldn't get outside. Overall, a very nice week.

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The large screened room is great.
This is a very nice cottage, like cottages were meant to be. Wooden floor, a wood burning fireplace, essential furniture and appliances, and a large screened room / porch that makes you feel like you're outside - great place to be anytime but especially when it is raining or when then bugs are out. We spent most of our time in this room when we were not outside. The front of the cottage has a nice patio where we also sat and read and enjoyed the morning sun. Potentially could be another screened in room. There are many steps to access the waterfront - which has a sandy beach and a dock. The lake water level was very high meaning the beach was greatly reduced, which was inconsequential to us. We brought our kayaks and bikes to the cottage. Kayaking the perimeter of the lake will be a 2 to 2.5 hour venture depending on the wind and stops. Biking the length of St-Peters Lake road from the cottage and back will be a 10 to 12 km ride and relatively flat. Cyclist seeking hills are advised to bike Mink Lake road nearby which offers a few challenging climbs - at least for me it was, and some beautiful views of distant forest covered hills. For a night out, the Arlington in Maynooth has live concerts on Fridays and Saturdays of surprisingly talented musicians. All in all we had a great week! Thank You!

Great private family friendly cabin
Our family of four, with two young boys, just returned from our great week away at this lovely cabin. Very private, with lots of kid friendly amenities including outdoor toys, games, tree house, play set and lots of water toys to enjoy. The cabin was clean, rustic and cozy with a fully stocked kitchen, ceiling and table fans in every room, full bathroom, large variety of DVDs and games, and an awesome screened in dining/living space. Dog friendly with a tie out leash already in place. Great sandy beach area for the kids on a quiet bay with a large dock and a swim up floating dock that the kids couldn't get enough of. Overall a great private spot for those looking to disconnect and unwind. We will definitely be returning!

lovely cottage in a quiet location
Really enjoyed our stay. All amenities that we needed were provided and it was great to have the use of the boats. The kids loved the play area.
The screened porch was great when the bugs were annoying us. Beds were comfortable and plenty of seating for everyone.
We'd thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone.

Lake St Peter July 2016
Having just spent a week at this cottage we would like to say thank you to the owners for a most enjoyable week. The cottage was equipped with everything we could possibly need and we were very impresed that there were ceiling fans and table fans in every room. It really helped on those humid nights! One of our favourite features was the screened-in porch as we sat out there every night for dinner and lots of family game time. Very nice :-)
We really enjoyed swimming in the lake as well and using the boats that were provided. The lake was very clean and we loved where we were situated on the lake as it was very private!
Overall we had a very nice holiday relaxing in and outside of the cottage. Thank you to the Byers family for sharing with us. Lisa, Vito and family :-)

Great escape!
This quaint and very quiet cottage was perfect for a family getaway of any age group! From the tree house and the swing set for the little one the minute we arrived, to the fishing, and water activities down at the lake. It was clean and very welcoming! The screen room was perfect for early morning coffee as well as late night games and everything in between!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Cozy cabin on Lake St. Peter
This is a cozy little cabin that has a rustic feel with all amenities provided on site.
Canoe, paddleboat, and kayak are available with great access to the lake.
We had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend this cottage for a young family or a couple seeking some solitude away from the city.

Excellent Family Rental
Our weekend away with our family and friends could not have been better at this beautiful cottage. It is so elegantly decorated, clean and provides all the cottage amenities that you could ever need. The lake in which this cottage is located is quiet and peaceful, with very little boat traffic, which is perfect for young children swimming. The shallow walk-in water is so convenient, but the floating dock gives kids the excitement of jumping into the lake. The playground at the front of the cottage provides the kids with entertainment when not in the water. The screened in porch was our very favourite. Eating our breakfast and dinner there every night was what going to the cottage is all about. We had a great time. Our out of town friends got to experience the true north that Canada has to offer. Will definitely re-book shortly! Owners were friendly, generous, helpful and communicate with renters very well! Thank you!
