We booked on last minute notice and the property owner couldn't have been more accommodation. The place worked well with multiple families staying there. Everything you could need was within walking distance.

Our group of age 50+ women had a wonderful stay here. Eric was easy to reach and communicate both ahead of and during our stay. Each of the 4 bedrooms has two beds in it which makes for easy bunking together. With the eat in kitchen, dining room, sitting room and lovely back yard/patio there were multiple places to gather and hang out. Additional touches like plenty of coffee pods, creamers, and a nice bottle of wine only added to our stay. The neighborhood is super fun and lively, and easy to walk to fun bars and restaurants. We would definitely come back again! There are two steep sets of stairs; they were fine for us, but anyone who has trouble with that sort of thing should be aware.

Loved that they had a backyard space and ping pong table

Great location, great property
This large, well-equipped property right in the heart of a vibrant neighborhood was perfect for our group of adult family members. The garage and parking spot were particularly helpful because of the lack of parking virtually anywhere in San Francisco. The house has a lot of charm, and every item (from personal care to books and games) one could possibly need on vacation is there. The homeowners were amazing, and even arranged to have a package brought inside for us that arrived before we did. That's customer service at it's best. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again.

The owners were warm, friendly and communicative before our arrival. We highly recommend this property, but have two suggestions.
1. The house sleeps 12, but there are very few towels available. This is an easy fix.
2. We were unable to reach the owners when we had an emergency. (We were locked out, which in this house is easy to do!) we had thee emergency numbers, and an email, but there was no pick up on any. We ended up going to a neighbor who contacted the owner for us. Again, this is an easy fix. Please supply an emergency number that will be answered!
Overall, we highly recommend! Just making these suggestions

Perfect Location
Location was great! Quick walk to many restaurant options and public transit. Twenty minute walk to Painted Ladies, shops on Valencia, and Dolores Park. The home itself was very comfy and spacious. Plenty of room for our group. Kids enjoyed the backyard. I would stay here again.
*Note: Bring your own toiletries.

This was the perfect "home" for our 3-generation, 3-day wedding celebration in the city. The home is spacious with 4 comfortable bedrooms + 3.5 baths and lots of living and yard space to spread out. We were walking distance to the bride and groom's home and close to parks for the kids. We hosted dinner one night with take-out paella (seafood + extra seafood) from Canela's, just a few minutes walk away. The meal was a highlight. We hope to create another occasion to have an excuse to stay here again!

Perfect location and spacious accomodations
Stayed here for 10 days during a trip with my 10 person family which included a baby and toddler.. The house was great- great location, comfortable bed, and very spacious. The garage was a definite plus which allowed us to rent a large van for day trips to wine country etc.
The house was clean and well equipped. There are a few minor things which could be easily addressed- improving the locks in the bathrooms and bedrooms and front door, and some of the blinds given how sunny it can be.
But we were very happy with our gracious hosts, and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Run down and very dirty property - far from luxury
We have rented through VRBO for 10+ yrs & this house is the dirtiest most run down home we have ever stayed in. The pictures are not current. We have detailed photos/videos submitted to VRBO. Please contact me to see them. Upon arriving it was clear the house was not as described. We had to remove piles of actual garbage in front of garage. We shoveled garbage & moldy leaves to avoid walking through garbage/dirt. This is their full time home & the garage is full of junk & personal items. There is a water leak through the middle of the ceiling & a large moldy area in the sheet rock. This moldy musty smell is through the entire house and does not go away. The mold is so bad it caused eye/throat pain/allergies and clothes smelled even after leaving the house. This is a health hazard!! The house walls & stairs are covered in dirt/stains, paint is chipped/peeling. Dirty fingerprints & dirt all over doors, floorboards, doorways, corners. Bedding was old & musty. We tried to rewash bedding but ended up buying new bedding to use. Area rugs in master & living area are filthy & stained. Curtains in master are broken & covered in stains. The master shower doesn’t work. Owners said if water runs for 10 minutes it would work, this is not true. Also if water runs, it overflows bc the drain is blocked. There is mold around skylights and window sills. The kitchen appliances/utensils are old and in bad shape. The main wall in kitchen was covered in grease stains. Drawers and closets throughout house are filled with junk/ personal items. This is not set up as a vacation home. We were appalled at the condition of the house and it was Christmas week so we felt stuck. This is truly the filthiest vacation rental we’ve ever encountered. And its not just filthy - it's unhealthy. We emailed the owners when we arrived & told them we were upset & had spent hours cleaning. The owners replied they had never had a complaint. We didn’t know if the owners were in town and were told they are confrontational, so I emailed them & said we would make the best of our stay. We moved half the family to a hotel the last 3 nights. Our formal complaint with photos/videos is being reviewed by VRBO along with a request for refund. The photos I have do not lie – the state of the house is shameful and we don't want this to happen to someone else. (Neighborhood is good/close to public transportation)

Characterful spacious property in very convenient location for all attractions in San Francisco
Seven family members, grandparents, parents and three daughters aged 11 to 17, all from the UK enjoyed a very happy and comfortable five day stay in this lovely home. We bought clipper cards on the first day which proved very worthwhile. Loved the washing machine and dryer but the TV proved rather high-tech for us. Door entry system was very convenient and automatic garbage bin an exciting novelty! The owners were very helpful in answering our queries quickly.

Great place, great location, great for families. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Our trip was 2 families coming up to watch a sporting event at AT&T park. This house was amazing as we could pull our cars into the garage and then use public trans to get anywhere we wanted to go. The neighborhood was great as well so we spent some time just roaming around. The house had plenty of space for all of us with great common areas to hang out. The kitchen set up was a little funky but it is no reason not to stay there. We had a great time and if we ever have an opportunity to come back to San Francisco I would certainly rent this house again.

Perfect location, lots of great eats within few minutes walk
Took family with adult kids and spouses, lots of places to sleep, House was as described, clean, good area, overall a great place to base from if vacationing in SF. Only note like most houses in this era, you can hear everything in the house so it’s helpful if everyone is on same schedule. We had a couple late night gamers that like to stay up till the early hours , that said WiFi is very good. Would definitely book again. The Hanson’s were very quick to respond to any questions and having the parking for a rental was a big plus.

A wonderful historic home!
This is a charming home that was perfect for our extended family of eight. We stayed for a week over Christmas. The owners are wonderful and surprised us with a decorated live tree in the living room plus Christmas stockings and decorations throughout the house. My granddaughter was a little worried about Christmas away from home, but was instantly won over. My 15 year old grandson loved the elaborate crown moulding and graceful windows and kept saying he could live there.
With two master suites (one on the top floor, one on the ground floor) and two bedrooms on the main floor there was privacy for everyone. Best of all, with 3 1/2 bathrooms there were no lines! We had planned on cooking breakfasts but there were way too many great bakeries and coffee shops within walking distance. That said, the kitchen was adequately stocked and we could have easily cooked more than we did. There are large seating areas in both the kitchen and the formal dining room. The living room is welcoming and comfy and includes a piano. It was too chilly for us to use the center courtyard but it would be great in warmer weather and meanwhile it provided a lot of interior light. We used Lyft throughout the trip, but having a garage plus a parking place in the middle of the city is a real plus for anyone bringing cars.
Our family doesn’t travel to replicate what we have at home. We like to experience new settings and different cultures. The Castro district is a delightfully mixed area that has gentrified in the last few years. The home is just off Market Street and the blocks adjacent to the home are filled with excellent restaurants. We did the obligatory tourist sightseeing but we especially enjoyed getting to know the area around the home. We did a lot of walking (the best way to see any city) and every corner brought new discoveries. It made us feel a little more like SF natives and not just tourists. We would happily stay there again as there was still so much more to explore.
Bottom line: if you enjoy historic homes with a few charming quirks and if you like getting the feel of a city neighborhood, you’ll really love this home!

Great property, poorly stocked for guests
This is a great house in a great hood that would benefit greatly from a small investment in stocking kitchen and cleaning supplies, and some work on plumbing and electrical. Several lights were on their way out, kitchen sink wouldn't get cold, only hot, there was no dish rack, barely any dishwasher detergent, we had to buy our own toilet paper, and there were few extra linens. The garbage can was broken. It needed extra utensils like a cheese grater and peeler- it was just super minimal and not at all stocked for cooking, only for ordering in. A small amount of attention would benefit this potentially cool property immensely.

Charming hoise. Lots of light, cute breakfast area
Superb location!!! Tons of restaurants and lovely shops. Aboutn16 minutes away from fillmore street, another area for eats and shopping galore.
House is spacious. Great for kids. Has a nice wooden patio area in the downstairs backyard and charming patio in the kitchen and breakfast area.
Good heating too! My kids enjoyed doing all for the puzzles !
Thank you owners!

Beautiful home in great location
I booked a stay for 5 University faculty members who were attending a conference nearby. They all had great things to say about the home and loved the proximity of the home to so many things. We will definitely look at using this place again in the future.

Clean, quiet, close to transport into San Francisco.

Charming and conveniently located home.
Ample space for a party of 8. Stairs are tricky for elderly or anyone without sure footing/needing assistance. Resources a plenty--supermarkets, takeaway spots and easily walkable to many sights.

Best house, best location!
Spending the holidays with my family there was amazing, the house is very cozy and what can I say...it is the actual home away from home! Very nice sunny rooms, great deck and amazing location! Eric is extremely thoughtful and is always there whenever you need!
Loved it! Definately coming back!

Beautiful home with lots of room
We had such an amazing time in this gorgeous home. I went with a group of 6 adults and there was plenty of room for all of us. The host was very accommodating and responded quickly to all my questions. The location was perfect as far as getting around San Francisco. We would definitely stay here again if we came back from San Francisco.

Best SF Trip by far
The pictures do not do this home justice! It is absolutely beautiful. The backyard is a wonderful place to sit with a glass of wine and relax. The house was clean and they had towels set out for us when we arrived. Vicky responded within a few hours (usually much less) and was very helpful with all of my questions. I highly recommend this property and will definitely be back for another stay!

Great house and plenty of street parking
Eric's place is truly an oasis in the Mission/Castro area. My team and I were there for a conference and chose to stay at a house rather than rent rooms at the conference hotel. This gave us the ability to meet during breakfast and afterwards at night. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, including a Safeway. A couple of minor issues: firstly, I was given the number of a lady to call in case I had any issues and I did (see the second point) however, she had a great deal of trouble understanding English and that was a bit frustrating after a long flight across the country. Secondly, the key was in a safe location but it wasn't clear to me that the front door wasn't to be used to enter because the deadbolts aren't keyed on the outside. We needed to enter from the garage. Both were very minor issues and were resolved quite quickly.

Perfect house, great owners!
Perfect place for our group! We had 8 adults staying there and it was perfect since there were only 4 rooms. It does sleep 10 so be aware that if it's couples there would have to be 2 other beds in people's rooms. I'd say it's perfect for families if you need to sleep the 10 people.
The owners were very informative and were nice enough to let us check in early since there was no one staying there the night before us.
The house was beautiful and very clean.
We did stay there mid week, Wednesday through Friday because we were there for a wedding so it was definitely a get away for us and a party type situation. The first night we had a bit to drink so we weren't exactly quiet and didn't really realize it. The neighbor had to sort of yell out her window to the little courtyard outside where we were to ask us to be quiet. We felt so bad and immeadiately went inside. Kinda hard to remember it was a Wednesday night! We received a call from the owner the next day for a noise complaint and I sincerely apologized and he was very nice about it. Understanding yet got the point across.
All in all, great place to stay, great owners, lots of stores and restaurants around within walking distance.
You need a rental, stay here!

Great weekend in San Fran with friends
This property was perfect for our stay. There were 6 adults total and two teenage girls. There was plenty of space for us and all of our luggage. We felt that the home was clean and conveniently located to transportation, restaurants and stores (short walk). Owners very responsive to texts and emails. The descriptions and pictures are very accurate. I would recommend this house to a friend and stay there myself in the future if the opportunity came up. Our favorite restaurant was Kitchen Story down Sanchez. We took public transportation to Fisherman's Wharf and Ubered to the Golden Gate Bridge. Great time! Thank you!

Perfect location, great for multiple families.
Really close to Metro lines, great garage for cars, close to resturaunts and grocery shopping. Nice bright home with lots of light through windows and sky lights, has a small court yard in the center that brings in fresh air and light. Comfortable beds and pillows.
Cons: The house was not very clean. If this is one of your criteria look else where.
