Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Seward. Clean, convenient to downtown, beautiful views and easy access to trails. Would stay here again if we ever return to the area.

Great place to stay. Convenient to everything! Could walk to downtown and the waterfront. Well appointed and had everything we needed. Doug, the property manager met us upon arrival and explained everything about the property and places to go and things to do. Totally recommend a stay here!

The property was impressive. We loved the fact that Doug was there to show us the rental and explained some of the mechanics of a modern kitchen and bathroom. Also recommended a few eateries around. The rental was very clean. The views of Seward mountains from the living room were fantastic. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay. The downtown was ten minutes walking distance.

Really great place to stay. Very spacious--it's an entire two-bedroom apartment with a large bathroom and a full kitchen--well furnished, very clean, and in great condition. Super convenient location on a quiet side street just two blocks from downtown, has its own parking space just off the street. No downsides to speak of, just a great, spacious, clean, quiet place to stay. Would definitely stay again.

We were extremely impressed with this home, the owner was amazing, offering advice on local attractions, and the steam shower was just what one needed after a cold tour on the water. We highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

We got a fabulous rundown of where to eat, hike, and go from our knowledgeable host Doug. This first floor apartment was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully appointed. We easily walked into town for brewpubs, restaurants, the bay, Sealife Center and a little hiking circuit around a small lake/pond. After a day out whale and wildlife watching we got drenched and cold. No problem, the lovely steam spa perked is back up.

This place is wonderful. VERY conveniently located--we could walk to everything downtown and to the Sealife Center and to trails. Did drive to harbor, but that took under 5 minutes. Nicely decorated with antiques, beds were super comfy, great size for two couples. Again, the location to all was fantastic.

It’s an excellent place to be. Location is perfect. Very comfortable, nicely decorated, and cozy in every way. The bathroom is ……, THE bathroom!!! Awesome! Doug, we are very grateful for your support, flexibility, and care when our friend got very sick. It took some of our stress away. Glad that we were at your place. It’s relaxing and quiet.

We had a great time in this house for a family of 4. House was very clean and as described in the listing. It is on a quite street, yet 5 min walk to couple of great dining options (Seasalt, The Cookery), waterfront park, Alaska Sealife center and a scenic roadside waterfall. Plenty other great options within couple of miles.
House is very tastefully decorated with antiques. Amenities were adequate and in decent shape. It is a older structure but kitchen, appliances, bath are recently upgraded. Heating coils are under the floor, so you have to be patient while adjusting the thermostat.
Pre-check in communication with the host was excellent and he provided helpful local information. I would have given 5 stars except for a hiccup after we checked in. The host, who lives on 2nd floor of the rental, walked into the room without introducing himself and started giving instructions on how to use kitchen, operate blinds, use thermostat, bath tub, fancy shower, what to do, what not to do etc. We felt the whole interaction was bit unnecessary and cringeworthy (especially when all 4 of us had to stand in the bathroom while he showed how to use the shower!). He also did not have accurate information about number of people on the reservation (2 according to him as opposed to 4 per confirmed booking). We just ignored that interaction as a weird but honest misstep, and carried on with enjoying the vacation. The host was helpful otherwise. As long as renters are prepared for the mandatory "in-person" instruction session, this should be a excellent experience. The host did compliment us on leaving the house in great condition.

Very nice property in a good location
The house was very nice and super clean. Doug had some very nice amenities and put thought into what he included with the property. We enjoyed being off the main drag because it was very quiet, but we could also walk almost anywhere we wanted to go in town. Be sure and use Doug as a source of information as to things to do in the area. He mentioned Homer to us and we really enjoyed taking a day trip there. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay.

Great place to stay!
Cute 2 bedroom house located centrally in Seward. Everything was clean and well-maintained. New appliances in the kitchen. Doug took the time to walk us through the house and provided suggestions on things to see and do. Highly recommend!

This was a good-sized home very walkable to downtown with a great views from the large picture window. Doug saw that we got in okay and understood how to work the steam shower, and gave us great recos for our time there: Kenai Fjords, Twin Lake Parks, hikes, etc. The kitchen had everything you need to make a meal in, though easy access to restaurants and bars on 4th St. made eating out easy, too. Definitely recommend!

We only spent two nights, and were out and about during the day but had a great stay. The house feels spacious with cozy antique log-cabin furnishings and updated (fully stocked) kitchen and bath. There are beautiful mountain views out the three large living room windows. It’s perfectly located in Seward, near all the activity, but not in middle of it. There’s a great coffee shop two blocks away. Doug is super communicative and friendly. He was there to meet us, even at our late 9p arrival, to review a few things about the place. There’s a fancy steam shower that I imagine is delightful in cold weather (we only used it as a shower vs the sauna option) and radiant floor heating. Both bedrooms are a good size with ample storage, comfy beds and good blackout curtains. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and will look to stay again on my next trip to Seward.

I have utilized VRBO for over 14 years and this is the first time I have ever encountered a property owner like this! Initially check in seemed to be smooth with a message sent through VRBO with all details for accessing the property. However, at 8:30pm Doug texted me asking about my arrival and that he wanted to go over the "amenities". I informed him our arrival would be 10:30 pm. When we arrived Doug spent 45 minutes walking us over the 2 bd 1ba duplex. He explained how the blinds worked and emphasized how past renters had messed them up, then the garbage can (motion activiated) and how past renters had messed it up, then on to asking where my children would sleep (weird and alarming), to showing us how the tub and steam shower worked (informing us also of how previous renters had messed those up also). He also informs us for check out that all we need to do is "LEAVE LINENS ON BED AND TOWELS CAN BE LEFT ON RACKS". At this point my family is exhausted we are still functioning on central time zone so its like 1 am for us however we were all cordial and smiling just wanting to go to bed. So much for the "no contact check in that is described in his posting" He went on to tell us that he actually lives upstairs. I later realized (our last night) that the bedroom my children were in had a keyed deadbolt lock on the door (which goes to the part of the house he lives in). There is NOT an additional exit in case of a fire you can only enter and leave through the front door. We were only at the home for one meal (breakfast) and to sleep at night. We were busy seeing Alaska. When we checked out on our departure date, we loaded dishwasher with what could fit turned it on, left linens on bed and towels in their place just as we were told and just a few items in the sink. However, that afternoon Doug sends me a text telling me we left the home a complete mess with a sink full of dishes (per the picture he sent me there was two coffee cups, a bowl, three spoons, a knife and a fork) , DRIED cranberries on the floor and "smashed" in the carpet(in the picture the dried cranberries are sitting on the carpet) . He said he would charge me extra cleaning fee because of the "hours" it took to clean. I refuted his charges. He expects you to sweep, mop, clean all the dishes, put them away! You are better off not staying there you'd be better off in a tent. He is money hungry and will probably make up reasons to keep your deposit or charge you more.
