About this apartment rental
This is the downstairs unit of a two story duplex. There is an option to rent both and have a 5 bedroom property which sleeps up to 12 using sleeper sofa(sleeper linens will need to be requested prior to stay). Can be connected via interior door.
The lower unit is 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms plus a full size sleeper sofa (this is not your Grandma's sofa bed!) The home includes a newer kitchen (granite counter tops), Smart TV, Wi-Fi, Air Conditioning in main room and just about everything else needed to feel at home. The primary bedroom has a king size bed with an en-suite bathroom and TV. The secondary bedroom includes 2 twin beds. Both rooms have very large closets offering plenty of space to store suitcases and other gear.
The flooring is tile and porcelain wood-like tile throughout. There is an interior full size washer/dryer as well. This is an ideal rental for young families because we are so close to the sand that it is easy to retrieve your sunscreen, sand toys or snacks. The garage has beach toys and chairs though some disappear and new often added, we never know what will be there at any given time. A very large and inviting patio is directly off of the open living, dining and kitchen area. An exceptional place to relax and people watch or close your eyes and drift away. The patio also has an automatic awning for those who want to be protected from the sun. There are additional folding chairs and tables .in the bedroom closets. Relax and unwind on the quiet end of the Island, a stone's throw from N. Bayfront, the boardwalk, and the sand. Fully equipped kitchen to cook, Weber Grill on the patio(no representaion as to amount of propane in tanks, Ace Hardware not too far), or walk to Balboa Island's quaint downtown restaurants and shops. There is a two car garage with one parking spot reseerved for each unit. We also have 2 bicycles and 2 kayaks that are shared by both units. Please use helmets when biking and vests when kayaking.
Please pay close attention to the no parking signs as they ticket on street sweeping mornings.

We enjoyed our stay in this charming home with its fantastic patio. Exactly as advertised, along with lovely neighbors, excellent communication with owners, and easy access to the bay and beach. We’ll be back!

With a large brick patio and BBQ we just hit the remote awning button and soaked in the island warmth! Great open concept kitchen, eat in space and den type setting that opens up to the patio. Nice TV by the way. We enjoyed walking the island perimeter and jumping on the ferry that was just steps away. Having two convenient full bathrooms was great. Very helpful friendly owners!

Great location, 2 doors from the waterfront. Nice front patio w/BBQ, table/chairs. Great amenities. House well furnished and stocked with linens, soaps (bath, laundry, dish) paper products, utensils and Keurig coffee maker. We have stayed in this house several times over 20 years. It was like returning home :).

We loved the location and layout of 1st floor unit but didn't like the noise level. It's been awhile since we have stayed on Balboa Island and forgot or don't remember just how many jet planes fly over each morning and afternoon. Also we were below a family on the 2nd level which added to the noise level, mostly from poor noise proofing of faucets and toilets. Could have given this property 3 stars instead of 4 because of noise but great location and apartment layout.

Home Away From Home
My husband and I stayed for several weeks in this first floor apartment. We were very comfortable. Walks around the island and playing with our grandchildren at the beach were splendid. The patio is just big enough to enjoy with company.

The perfect getaway at our favorite beach!
This was a great condo. Excellent location - just a few houses from the bayfront - on the quiet side of the island. The house was super clean and very organized, we had everything we needed during our stay. We loved the front patio for our breakfasts and dinners. it was the perfect condo for our family. We will book this again in the future!!

Well-located Balboa Island property
This was a great place to stay while visiting my family for a month. The front yard couldn’t be beat, which was great for hosting family during COVID-19. Alexandra was responsive and pro-active, making her a great host.

A delightful vacation spot
Super comfy vacation rental in a fantastic location on Balboa Island. Head out your door and less than two doors down is the bay where you can launch your SUP or walk barefoot on a small sandy beach. The rental is nicely equipped and well maintained. The master bedroom has a wonderful king mattress. Really appreciated having an enclosed garage to store our toys. Not quite big enough for my truck and bike rack, but that wasn't a problem. Plenty of on street parking during our stay in January. We would stay here again in a heart beat!

Island life
We stayed here for the past month and we really enjoyed ourselves. We’re finishing up a remodel in the area so we’re very familiar with Balboa island. That being said staying here is much different than visiting. Waking up every morning we walked out to the patio and the neighbors here are so friendly. Our toddler loved walking to the beach a couple doors down. Then we grabbed a delicious coffee on Agate and then took a stroll around the island. Got used to this lifestyle and are sad to leave our routine! We had a party on the beach here, the rental had some great beach chairs and games we could use. The rental had everything we needed. Loved the on sight laundry and the front patio with awning. Loved staying on this side of the island too. Close to the ferry so the beach on the peninsula is only a small walk away. You’ll love it here!

Great location on Balboa Island
Balboa is a quaint area and we enjoyed the improvements on Marine Avenue since our last stay. The addition of Irvine Ranch Market and new restaurants, Snipe Island Cafe and Royal Hen, plus the new coffee shop at Agate were nice. We enjoyed the sunny front patio and large master bedroom. Since the bathrooms are older, with tub/shower combos, we would recommend that the cleaning service replace the mildew stained (and mildew odor) plastic liners more frequently.

Good place on our ninth stay on Balboa
Nice patio area; liked the laundry; mostly comfortable stay. A few updates to the property would make it a great stay. Suggestions for improvements: Addition of grab bar in the hall bath shower for safety; Replace shower heads in both baths; Bath mats in the tubs for safety; Beef up and update kitchen dinnerware, silverware, cookware, utensils. More expensive updates would be to replace stove, fridge and dishwasher.

A Perfectly Relaxing Stay
The property is as pictured in the photos posted. The landlords are wonderful. Everything that you need for a stay at the beach can be found here. We've been coming to Balboa Island since we are kids (over 50 years) and this time, we stayed an entire month. A luxury for us, but well worth it in every way.
Downstairs has direct access to a wonderful patio. Downstairs is homier -- upstairs is more modern and has a patio off the back. Downstairs seems to stay cooler. But, you can't go wrong with either unit, or you can rent them both.
We were very content downstairs and look forward to coming back.

Family Reunion Destination
The house is very well appointed (there was an abundance of extra clean towels provided) and completely suited our needs. The flow from the kitchen to the dining room and out onto the patio is perfect.
There were 10 of us and so we had the upstairs unit as well, needing those additional bedrooms and bathrooms. And it was nice to have the second kitchen, but we always seemed to gravitate towards the downstairs living room / dining room area, and then on to the patio.
The folding tables provided meant we could all have dinner together out on the patio, and there is perhaps nothing to compare to dining alfresco with friends and family on a warm summer night on Balboa Island.
It was wonderful being together again, and our surroundings made it all the nicer.
Loved the house and will hope to return again some time.

Delightful place to stay
The host family are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They do everything they can to insure that your stay is a pleasant one and the communication is superb. The house has the atmosphere of old Balboa Island, but with some modern touches such as a remodeled kitchen and new driftwood style floor tile. The house is fully equipped with all the necessary dishes, utensils and housewares. The bed is soft and comfortable too. There is a peek-a-boo view of the northern side of the harbor from the living area, so you can see the tops of the boats as they sail by. It's very quiet and peaceful and I enjoyed my stay there immensely.

Clean, comfortable, roomy home
Great location on beautiful Balboa island. Easy walk to the Ferry to get over to Newport Beach. Easy to get to Disney, downtown LA, multiple beaches. Loved being close to the airport (John Wayne/SNA).
Really appreciated the amenities - beach chairs were great, loved that there were 2 bikes and kayaks available for our use. Brand new kitchen appliances and large washer/dryer were great. Tile and flooring in the house was beautiful and clean. Beds were really comfortable and closets in both bedrooms were great! Opened them up all the way and put suitcases in there with plenty of room to access everything. Loved sitting on the deck out front. The afternoon sun was perfect. Great windows along the front. Really nice having a garage.
Appreciated the soap, paper towels, toilet paper, hair dryer, etc. Plenty of bath towels.
Very fast responses from owner. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!
We went to Newport Beach on the ferry. Took a boat from Newport to Catalina for the day. Drove to Disney in 20 minutes. Went to see the Griffith Observatory in LA. Visited Cal State Fullerton. Went out on a fishing boat from Newport. Lots of walking around Balboa Island. Had a great time!

Wonderful spot on Balboa Island!
I can’t say enough about this lovely duplex I stayed in from October to January. I rented the bottom unit that has an amazing deck that looks right out to the North Bayfront. This 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom is very spacious and decorated so cute. The remodeled kitchen was very well equipped and had anything you would need to make great meals. The street the duplex is located on is very quiet and parking options were good plus there is a nice sized garage that includes bikes, kayaks and beach toys. The unit is within walking distance of the ferry, shopping and all the great restaurants. When I checked in the unit was very clean and I was happy to see nice, regular sized washer and dryer too. Overall, I had a great experience and the owners are a pleasure to deal with. I would give my stay an A+.

Nice Balboa Rental - Quiet Street Close to Beach
This property is four houses away from a very quiet sandy beach (not all parts of Balboa Island have sandy beaches) and the street is very quiet overall far removed from the busy main avenue - Marine Street. The landlord is great, easy to work with overall and a great weekly vacation rental or month long rental as was the case for our family.
