About this cabin rental
If you are looking for a perfect getaway, Cedar Key, a secluded no-wake cove on Smith Mountain Lake is the place. The one-mile tree-lined drive from the entrance to our quiet cul-de-sac starts your relaxing journey. After arriving, relax on the deck and enjoy the splendid views of lake and undeveloped mountains.
The no-wake area excludes heavy boat traffic and noisy jet skis and provides a peaceful feeling and safe swimming space, somewhat rare on the lake. Cedar Key is part of a small rustic community consisting of 10 similar cabins. We share a dock with the next-door cabin for swimming, fishing, picnicking, and boating.
For those sensitive to pet odors, smoke, etc., our Cabin is pet-free and smoke-free. Occupancy is limited to 4 guests.
The Cabin is in excellent condition with hardwood floors, full size appliances, and satellite smart TV. There is central air and heat with ceiling fans throughout, free WIFI internet access, DVD and VCR with lots of movies. The furnishings are comfortable with a reclining couch and reclining chair and rocker. The kitchen is fully furnished with full sized appliances. There is an outdoor charcoal grill on the deck with outdoor table and chairs.
The Cabin has two bedrooms (one queen bed, and two twins) and one full bathroom with shower/tub. The main bedroom has a sliding glass door which provides beautiful views and access to the large deck that extends the length of the Cabin. The living area also has large sliding glass door that provides beautiful lake views and access to the large deck. The views are of undeveloped wooded mountains and lake.
Smith Mountain Lake is a boater's and fisherman's paradise. There are 500 miles of shoreline on this 40 mile long, 20,000 acre lake. If you have your own boat, you can launch it at nearby Mitchell’s Point Marina and dock it at the Cabin's dock. Boat rentals and wave runners are available at several lake locations. From our location it is about 1000 feet to the main channel of the lake. For the fisherman, we are located on Witcher Creek where the stripers spawn. The lake is stocked with bass, muskies, northern pike, and other small game fish.
If you just like relaxing and nature, there is plenty of wildlife in surrounding woods. Hiking is available along our lightly traveled one mile entrance road. Nearby Smith Mountain State Park includes hiking trails and a sandy beach for younger visitors. Golf is available at nearby Mariners Landing. A number of wineries and restaurants are within 20 minutes.
Guests must bring their own linens & towels. You will need linens & pillowcases for the queen bed and two twins and whatever towels you require for your use. We furnish blankets, bedspreads, pillows, and all bath & kitchen paper supplies and soaps.
Please contact us if you require linens & towels for an additional $90 fee.

Stayed here with three friends for a quiet bachelorette celebration. Could not have asked for me! Access to the grill made dinner easy and fun. There is a walkway straight down to the lake. The cabin itself was exceptionally neat, organized, and absolutely adorable. Communication with the hosts was stellar!! Could not have asked for a more relaxing getaway.

We had a wonderful stay in this cabin. Very comfortable, clean, great views, quiet area, beautiful lake. Owners were very communicative and accommodating. We are sensitive to pet hair & other allergens, and this was a perfect place for us, including well-dusted. Very reasonable check-out duties.
This was our first visit to Smith Mountain Lake and we loved it. We didn't rent a boat this time, but we'd like do that next time, and explore more of the lake. We would stay in this cabin again for sure -- it was beautifully out of the way of crowds, buildings, etc. Totally worth the 20ish min drive to most "stuff" in the area.
We were there from a Mon-Fri, and we were surprised by how many area restaurants (and a boat tour place) were closed for most of the week, only opening on Thurs night or so. It must have to do with their flow of business, even in the middle of summer. We did eat at nearby Mitchell's landing and the food was OK, the view was nice, and the ice cream was great. We also went to the arcade and gift shop area in West Lake - that was fun.
The highlight of our trip was going down to our cabin's dock every day, where our son fished off the edge. He had a blast catching and releasing lots of little fish. And on our last night, the clouds gave us a pretty good sunset -- you can't exactly see it from the cabin or dock, but you can see the sky changing, and we walked a little way around the bend, for an even better view of the sky.
Thanks for an amazing stay!

I booked a lake getaway for me and my wife in a very quiet cove at Smith Mountain Lake. From the time of booking through our check-out, the Owner/Host provided excellent communication and details. The cabin was perfect. The dock was exceptional. We brought fishing kayaks and had a great time in the no-wake cove. Good shopping and other amenities were close. Highly recommended.

A perfect location right by the lake with a dock made this anniversary trip just perfect. We spent our days fishing on the dock, grilling out and enjoying the stunning area. What a beautiful place!!! I am a pastor and my wife and I just wanted some time away for the business of life in Philadelphia and all that happens with ministry in a busy urban context. This cabin in the beautiful setting was everything we could have hoped for. From the second we opened the door and smelled the beautiful log cabin smell, to looking out over the lake from the windows, this cabin was everything we hoped for. We would love to go back for another retreat either later this year or next year. If you want a beautiful place to reflect and retreat this is it!

Husband and I took a weekend out for a stay here in November. This cabin is well kept with everything you could possibly need for a stay. We had a wonderful time in the beautiful wildlife refuge(saw many deer fairly up close and personal ) and took a day trip (~ 25 minute drive) to the “happening” side of the lake for some fun and lunch at the axe throwing place. Would recommend and likely will be back.

Clean, well maintained, cozy cabin with everything you need. It was especially nice to have paper products that saved on dishwashing, yet all the utensils and pans and dishes you need to cook a nice meal. Bringing our own sheets and towels was no problem. Loved the large porch and also views from both main living area and primary bedroom of the quiet lake.Such a great place to relax and walk tons among the beautiful trees. We didn’t need to go find a place to hike as the road into the property provided that. Do know it is quite the winding road to the property but so worth it, especially with the fall color.

We truly enjoyed our getaway weekend for our 30th wedding anniversary. The temperature was perfect to walk to the dock for some fall pictures. Wildlife in abundance driving in and out of the property. Would stay again.

All the cousins gathered at Smith Mountain Lake this year, and the array of different cottages was perfect for each family unit. Our cabin, Cabin 3, was nothing short of perfect. It has everything you can think of, a blender, toaster, kettle, writing materials, bbq, cleaning products, plugs with usb connectors, wifi, great water pressure and water temperatures in the shower, paper plates and cups, coffee makers.. all the indoor household goods you’d have at home. And then.. well then you have the great outdoors with a phenomenal view both morning, day, and night, overlooking the water and seeing bright stars amongst the sound of crickets celebrating life in the pitch dark. The lake is stunning, float on the water for hours, catch a tan, do a workout on the dock— you name it, you can do it! Our trip was incredible, too short, but core memories were made and that’s all we can ask for. We plan to return, no if’s or but’s. Thank you to Ken and Francis for opening your home to us, and for making it feel like home. Thank you to Annette for maintaining the cabin so well and ensuring all is in working order. What a wonderful wonderful little retreat. Until next time!

The cabin was wonderful and included all the necessary amenities.
The shared dock was well maintained with a ladder to ease getting out of the water.
The hosts were amazing, contacting us well in advance to let us know about local fishing requirements. The welcome book was awesome! It provided information about local restaurants and activities.
This was our third year on the lake and it was the best yet!

Stayed for a long weekend with a couple of girl friends. We loved the peaceful no wake zone of the cove, with access to the lake right off the dock. We brought kayaks and had a great time. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Communication with the owners was exceptional. We are already thinking, “when can we go back?” A great place to stay!

Definitely recommend this cabin! The owner called me the day before our stay to see if I had any questions. She was very polite and personable. The cabin is very adorable. The view is outstanding! There is a "country" store very close by that offers some groceries and snacks. The Food Lion is just a little farther away for more options. We enjoyed our stay and didn't want to return. Thank you again for sharing this little piece of heaven!

We loved our stay! The only problem was the parking we knew that you could not park in front of the property but no one else respected that so it made it tough to get to our property. Then the people staying in the first cabin had 3 cars all parked in that area so it was hard to park or get out. They were either blocking us or at a point where we could not back out of our spot. That was the only issue, the property itself was beautiful.
