About this chalet rental
This is a secluded mountainside retreat. Perfect for a getaway for two and room enough for 4 it is located on eleven private acres that sit just above the White River. It is near Okemo, Sugarbush and Pico, with Killington being only 14 miles away… it’s a skier’s delight! There is cross country skiing and bond fires by the pond. The chalet overlooks the Green Mountains with a running brook near by. Fall views are quite incredible. We are within walking distance to the White River. Hiking is abundant and great places to take dogs OFF the leash.
The Chalet offers a fully equipped custom built kitchen, a gas powered VT Castings stove for heating ( looks like a fire burning)in the living room, 1 full bathroom, flat screen satellite TV in the living room, and 2 sleeping areas: 1 bedroom with a full size bed, and a private sleeping loft with a king size mattress.
Jump on your snow mobiles from the driveway and head out for a ride through the scenic mountain trails or if you’re a cross country ski lover you will enjoy the meadow trails nearby.
As mentioned above as breathtaking this area is in the winter, the spring, summer, and fall will capture a place in your heart. The babbling brook that runs through the property brings beautiful music to the bountiful lush green canopy of this part of the Green Mountains. Swimming, fishing, tubing, and walking along the White River are just a step outside the front door. There is a beautiful pond right outside your front deck that is perfect for outdoor fires and floating!
There are many nearby natural wonders that just have to be seen. Quechee Gorge, Texas Falls, and Moss Glen Falls are among a few of our favorites. The quaint New England towns of Woodstock, Quechee, Randolph, Barnard , and Rochester are a must to visit for shopping, antiquing, and restaurants. Nearby also offers Vermont Cabot Cheese outlet and Ben & Jerry’s.
Whether you are an active person that wants to celebrate the outdoors, a person looking for solitude who just wants to warm up next to a cozy fire, you will find this mountainside gem rejuvenating

The place was very cute. Janie was very friendly. We enjoyed meeting her and her dogs. She had some great recommendations on places to visit! Our kids shared the loft bed, and my husband and I shared the bedroom. My only recommendation is that the online listing is updated. There were some discrepencies with bed layout and check out time given in the check in email was 12. In the cottage it was listed as 10 and another place online was 11. 11 was the correct tjme. We appreciate Janie's hospitality and would stay again.

Take pics when you arrive and leave
Communication prior to arriving was great.
I won’t go into everything after we arrived including the scratches on my new SUV but just a recommendation that if you stay here, take pics of every room when you arrive and leave. There are hundreds of trinkets/knick knacks in the home. After we left (and after I wrote to her regarding the scratches on my new SUV from her dog jumping on it), she asked if we had accidentally packed her $150 clock.
I’ve been using VRBO for 15 years and this was the most disappointing experience.

A muddy mess, but still a good vacation
Let me start with the positives… the owner was very responsive via email with directions and check in process. The house was really clean on arrival. And sitting in the afternoon sun, out on the back deck with a glass of wine and the sound of the stream below was really relaxing and enjoyable.
However, getting there was an adventure as the driveway was a muddy mess. I know the owner’s have no control over the weather and she alerted me to the fact on our way there but I wasn’t sure our big 4wheel drive was going to make it. It was challenging to say the least. Not to mention, there was no place to walk the dog without going thru the mud.
The house is tiny and I think would really be a stretch for 4 people. Also the owner’s log cabin is only about 50 yards away so not quite the solitude I had expected. No Verizon cell service and the Wi-Fi didn’t work for the first 2 nights we were there. I never called the owner on that because it didn’t really matter to us. I had a book and the backgammon board with us. It did unexpectedly show up on our last night. Lastly, the house is cute but there is a lot of stuff. Everywhere. Maybe a little less stuff would have helped in figuring out where to put my suitcase and my stuff.
With that said, it was still a nice vacation and who doesn’t have a good time in Vermont!?

Gorgeous Property with Great Host
The chalet is clean and so cozy! It's in a gorgeous location where it's easy to just relax but still about 15-30 minutes from Killington and plenty of activities. The chalet worked great for my husband and I and I would highly recommend it as a couple's getaway but I could see how it might be tight for more people - specifically multiple couples.
The host was also wonderful - quick to answer messages and honestly a delight to get to know!

Perfect weekend getaway
My fiancé and I brought our 3 year old German Shepherd here and stayed for the weekend, we had such a great time! Janie and Zoe were so welcoming and our dog had a blast swimming and playing with Zoe. The location is perfect for relaxing, off-leash fun. The chalet is clean and cozy, and the scenery is like no other. Definitely recommend for couples, friends, and families. We hope to be back soon!

Wonderful stay
We really loved our stay in this beautiful chalet .. Janie and Zoe were perfect hosts to us . We stayed here for 4 days with our 2 labs who totally enjoyed swimming in the pond 3 times a day ! The chalet was very clean and cosy with a great view & location . We enjoyed the calm and peace unlike the city environment we live in . Definitely will be coming back to stay here .. although do make sure you manage to reach here before sunset on your first day stay as we lost GPS the moment we started driving towards the mountain .. Janie provided us instructions way before we travelled so that was our only reference point , don’t rely on gps entirely when getting here . The positive point is Janie has a landline and WiFi in the chalet so it was definitely easy to reach our parents to check on them .. thanks again Janie and Zoe ❤️

Excellent Vacation!!
Stayed with spouse & our 8 year old child. The photos don't do it justice it is so beautiful & charming. Janie was friendly & helpful. We loved sitting at the pond on the property & having dinner. The river to swim in nearby was our favorite way to relax after after long days of hiking. We had our best family vacation so far & we can't wait to come back!!

Great little treasure tucked in the trees. Janie was very sweet and our pup loved the 2 resident pups. We got engaged while there and honestly, it was the perfect little place to experience that.

Charming and cozy chalet in the heart of Vermont!
Janie (and her golden retriever Zoe!) were terrific hosts. Janie was very responsive leading up to our stay answering all of my questions promptly. She was so helpful by offering us some great recommendations of things to do and restaurants to eat - and everything she suggested was a huge hit with us! The view of the mountains are spectacular! We hope to visit again soon and would definitely choose to come back here!

The chalet was cozy and peaceful, the pond/yard area was a huge plus for our energetic pup, and Janie is so sweet and gives great local recommendations. Charming Vermont Mountain Escape!
Thank you, Janie, for sharing your cozy and warm chalet. Our first impression was a winter wonderland as we arrived late at night during a beautiful snow storm (we have 4-wheel drive!). Our teenage boys loved the terrain and enjoyed riding around in their 4 wheeler on mornings they were not out skiing and snowboarding. The loft was perfect for them as well! Our puppy loved the long walks up the mountain along with playing with his new friend Zoey! We will definitely be back. We loved the location to UNV and Killington. Janie is a wonderful host with amazing stories about this special property. I miss reading by the gas stove already!

Cozy ski retreat
We had a great stay at the cozy chalet while skiing at Killington. My 14 year-old son was happy with the great wifi, and my husband and I relaxed next to the gas stove/fireplace after a day of skiing. The alcove sleeping area was very nice and cozy. Killington was 30 minutes away and eateries were 15-20 minutes away. Janie was a wonderful host and helped us when our all-wheel drive couldn't get up the icy driveway which was later treated with pea stone gravel which did the trick. We had everything we needed to make a hearty breakfast. We enjoyed our stay at the charming chalet.

A great cozy isolated mountain chalet with a very gracious host
We had a great time in Janie's (& Zoey) chalet. It was a beautiful cozy house, perfect for a couple and their dog. Janie was a fantastic host - friendly, quick in replying, and supportive during a big snow storm we faced while there. We only have positive things to say about our hosts. The only downside from our stay was that the wifi wasn't working at all in the house, and since we didn't have phone service, we were completely out of communication with the world. We notified Janie of this, but it didn't get fixed in the days we were there. She hinted that there was a problem with the lines, but to the best of our knowledge she didn't call the companies to get it fixed ASAP. Unfortunately that's a big flaw from our perspective - had we known ahead of time, we'd have prepared for it, but we didn't so didn't bring any books, films, etc.

Rustic getaway
Definitely a cozy and charming little cabin, and Janie and her adorable dogs were super welcoming! We had a great time, but just beware that this area has no service whatsoever (Verizon) and the wifi from the main house does not reach the chalet. It's also a good half hour from Killington and all the "action" there. The only other issue we had was that the driveway was SO ICY... Even walking from the cars to the doorway was a struggle without slipping, since there was no dirt or salt put down. Bring microspikes if you're coming in the winter!! :)

Perfect accommodation for our family
We loved staying here. The home was well appointed and was comfortable for our family of 4 and our dog. I enjoyed the peaceful walks every morning with our dog and my daughter and i had a great visit up the hill to meet Janie (owner) and her pup. We are looking forward to a return visit. Proximity to Killington was great as well as a couple great restaurants that we tried in the area (20 minutes away in Rochester and Royalton).

Wonderful dog-friendly weekend
The chalet is so charming and authentic Vermont. Our group was 2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 dogs. Enjoyed swimming in the river and there is also a nice pond onsite for floating. The owner Janie was so welcoming and helpful. Her sweet golden retriever and our dogs had fun off-leash on the lovely grounds.Wifi was spotty during our stay as is typical of that part of Vermont. Satellite tv worked great though.Thank you Janie for a great stay!

The house is adorable
The house was only a short drive to killington and when I walked in the door I thought it was a perfect little cabin in the woods. The house was very clean and had everything we needed ,I will definitely be back

Great overall place to stay
Very secluded and nice get away.
Be aware that you may need snow tires and four wheel drive to get to the cabin depending on weather. Also follow Janie's very detailed directions or you could find yourself in the wrong spot.
Mattress in main bedroom a little hard for my taste but sleeping loft is delightful.
We would stay again--great location for skiing and other outdoor activities.

Lovely, immaculate chalet tucked away in the woods
I stayed here alone for three days between Christmas and New Years, hoping to find absolute peace and quiet in a snow covered winter forest. That is exactly what I got. Perfect!

Amazing weekend getaway.
The house is perfect for a small family. My son loved the upstairs sleeping nook and my husband and I had plenty of room in the bedroom. The house is very tastefully done, the design features are impecable. Kitchen came fully equipped and the gas burning heater made the house nice and toasty on a very cold Jan night. 25 min to killington on picturesque route 100. Our dog also loved the space and overall tranquility and made himself right at home. Would definitely stay again!

Home inside and out is lovely. Perfect for family with two adults and 2-3 kids.
We loved staying in this cabin in the woods. Our dog enjoyed roaming the extensive property and stayed comfortably in cabin while we were away. Was convenient to skiing at Killington, 15 miles away (30 min drive). Very functional kitchen made meals easy. Den is cozy, we enjoyed watching TV as a family and playing games. The owner was very helpful throughout.
