The house includes six bedrooms: five of which contain their own bathrooms and one which connects. The rooms combined can accommodate twelve. The home is perfect for a group or for multi-families. My family stayed at the property and had a wonderful time. Arturo and Maribel are the caretakers and are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. They keep the property in fantastic shape and are extremely helpful. I highly recommend hiring Maribel to do the cooking, as she is amazing!!
The pool is great, the beach was just fine for swimming. Make sure to visit the "Monkey House" (casa de los monos) nearby, as that was my families favorite excursion.
Again, I cannot stress enough how wonderful Arturo and Maribel are at hosting and taking care of the guests here. Truly a great family place!!!

Our group of two families (4 adults, 7 kids) stayed here for two nights. The rooms are small but sufficient. Each bedroom has a double bed and a single. The pool is wonderful, and the grounds are kept pristine bt the caretaker Arturo, who lives in site with his wife Maribel. They are wonderful hosts. For $30/day, Maribel will prepare lunch and breakfast for your group. She even accompanied us to the market to help us shop for the meals. Arturo took us down to the local fish market, where we scored a deal on some fresh mahi mahi for dinner, which Maribel cooked perfectly. The only downside to the house was the beach behind the back fence. It is not a beach where you can swim. The current is strong and the beach is steeply sloped. However, more appealling beaches are just a short drive away. All in all, we would stay here again!

What a wonderful stay! Casa Rector was an excellent choice for our family, my brother's family and my parents. The property was well stocked with everything we needed, including life jackets for our kids. Mirabel and Arturo, the on site caretakers are INCREDIBLE! We hired Mirabel to look after the cleaning and some cooking and it was worth every penny to enjoy our stay. Mirabel is a wonderful cook and always proactively anticipating our needs (towels, ice cream for the kids, etc) Arturo did a wonderful job looking after the pool was always there to help with the gate when we were coming/going with the car. The property was clean and well maintained despite some signs of age, but anything we needed was attended to right away. The pool was excellent. The shallow end is still approx 4 feet deep, so we just had to be extra cautious with the younger kids in our group. We loved going down to the beach to jump around the waves and watch sunsets. Thank you Richard for sharing your beautiful property with us. We had a wonderful stay!

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The property description and photos were accurate for the listing. The owner was in touch with us shortly after we booked and a few days before check in to ensure we had everything we needed. There was plenty of space for our large group.

We had a wonderful stay, and I would highly recommend this house! My communication with the owner ahead of time was outstanding, and the caretakers at the house were wonderful & very helpful. As others say, though, brush up on your Spanish as they do not speak English. Also, bring bug spray!

This was a great place to use as a base and take off each day to go exploring.
Arturo and Maribel were very gracious and helpful. We had Maribel cook for us several nights and she did our laundry, which was a blessing.
I injured my foot and she went to the pharmacy to get me some numbing solution.
We were there during the rainy season, which we loved. We enjoyed the pool, and loved watching and hearing the waves crash in on the beach. I’m not sure why they preferred that we stay off the beach.
Our room had an issue cooling down and they had someone right out to work on it.
Maribel had fresh fruit cut up for us several mornings, which was a real treat!
The owner of the property was incredible, we corresponded and spoke by phone several times and he reassured me he would make everything right. Which he did, above and beyond. By the way, he doesn’t text!
We were so sorry while we were there that they lost one of their beautiful German shepherds. We couldn’t get the translation straight as to what happened. There was a black lab there also, that we think was named ‘Bacon’. Our grand daughter cried when we left Bacon at the house.
This house was perfect for us, we are not resort people so it didn’t bother us that there was not AC in the common room. If it got too hot, we’d go swimming or go into our rooms.
We loved the geckos, iguanas & squirrels.
Thank you to Rich, Arturo and Maribel for making our family of 11 have such a memorable vacation!

The property was fantastic and precisely as described. The caretakers, Arturo and Maribel, on site were friendly and incredibly helpful. The area itself is not a huge tourist area so you may have to drive to get to those.

My husband and i stayed for one week and then our daughters came with their families for the second week. It was a very relaxing vacation, with a lovely pool, and we loved the access to the beach. Our grandchildren were in heaven, running around the spacious property, swimming in the pool, and playing on the beach. This is the place for anyone looking for a beach/pool vacation. Puntarenas was disappointing as a town, but there is good local shopping within walking distance. Marabel and Arturo give five star service, looking after their guests as if they were family. They are the true gems of this property. The house itself could use some updating and the gate to the beach should be made more secure. But all in all, it is a great spot, and we would definitely go again. Richard, the property owner, is splendid at communication and we couldn’t have asked for better or more accomodating hosts.

We were mostly using as a “base camp” while we played tourist but did spend most of one afternoon at the house and in the pool. Enjoyed a beautiful sunset! Loved the screened in porch to enjoy outside without bugs. The property manager Arturo was incredibly helpful with everything we needed.

Amazing hosts, but gross inside
We loved the couple that was there to welcome us and help us with whatever we needed. The grounds were beautiful. The inside was gross and we found a cockroach in the bed. It is also not in a good location, any activities are at least a twenty minute drive

Amazing!!!!
The property is beautiful and well maintained. Arturo was so nice and helpful. He setup our 3 hammocks every morning and then took them down at night. Maribel and her daughter cooked dinner for us for 5 nights. Their cooking was so good and something that we will always remember. Richard was very helpful with directions and places to visit and booking tours.

Cleanliness, privacy, perfection
The communication with the home owner and management is very easy. We were warmly welcomed by the property managers Arturo and Maribel!! The house has the perfect size and layout to accommodate a multiple family group! Each room is spacious, clean, and has a private bathroom. We had a group with over 6 children and theres is plenty of yard for them to play. Will definitely go back in the future!!!

Very nice
Overall, the property was awesome. Arturo and Maribel take a lot of pride in their work. Her cooking was really good, and they were very helpful with everything. They work really hard to make sure you worry about nothing but enjoying vacation. The location is not bad, but I do have to say that if you are looking to see some of the natural wonders in Costa Rica, plan on spending quite a bit of time on the road. Do yourself a favor and really put some time into researching where and what you’re hoping to go see. However, if hanging out at the beach and pool is what you’re after, I would highly recommend going here. The waves crashing at night were awesome to hear and it was very relaxing to sit by the pool or in the living/dining area at night.

Love it!
We all loved and love the house, it has everything you need, basically you not even need to get out it. This is the second time we rent it and we will rent it again! Don Arturo is amazing, we’ll always be grateful with him for all the help and with Richard for the communication. Highly recommended!

Relaxing beach time
Casa Rector was a perfect fit for our group of 14. The pictures do not do it justice. The grounds are beautiful, Arturo does a great job maintaining them. Everyone had enough room to have their own space, but a great common area for meals and down time. And speaking of meals, Maribel's cooking was fabulous. We will miss Casa Rector as we treasure our memories of our time there.
We chose it to have down time at the beach and that is exactly what it was.

Wonderful Family Vacation Home!!!
This house was PERFECT for our group of 7. It honestly could have easily slept twice as many people. Each room has it's own bathroom (which is great when traveling with teenagers). The caretakers were WONDERFUL! No only did we arrive to a fully cooked dinner and drinks, but They accompanied us to the grocery store so we would know how to find it. They offered to cook for us, do our laundry and gave us so much helpful information while we were there. I loved how every evening they would walk through the outdoor space after we all went to sleep and would bring in any personal items left out.
Also we LOVED the dogs on the property. They were so sweet and well behaved. Our kids had so much fun hanging out with them.
The location of the home is wonderful. It is very close to plenty of things to do, but far enough away to be very quiet and serene. We used the pool for most of our swimming, but the ocean is steps away. We easily found plenty of restaurants and shops in walking distance, along with taking a few day trips to the local towns for ziplining, animal sanctuaries, and waterfall adventures.
Thank you so much for the wonderful stay Rich!!! You have been beyond helpful the whole way through our trip!

A great, sunny, fun place to hang out with friends, low-key style
We are four friends from (long-ago) college, and we had never been to Costa Rica before, and didn't know what to expect. Staying here was fun and easy, Arturo and Maribel, the caretakers, were kind and lovely. The owner connected us to Varso Travel, which made everything easy, from snorkeling in Tortuga to exploring volcanos—lunch included. Even on the hottest days, the pool was always welcoming. It is rustic—multiple beds per room, an extremely adorable puppy running around, no AC in the main eating area—but it was also comfortable and welcoming, with fresh cut-up fruit waiting for us when we arrived, and everyone willing to help us out whenever we asked. Michael of Varso Travel even brought us to a supermarket on the way back from the volcano so we could do a quick shopping trip. A really fun place to go.

Beautiful house for large group/family vacation...beach and pool in the back yard!
Our group of 13 had a wonderful family vacation at this Costa Rican house that had everything. The home has 6 separate bedrooms, with 5 bathrooms, plenty of pool side and shady spots, as well as walk out to the sand and beach. The house was well laid out, clean and had a large common space with a table to seat our whole group. The house keeper Maribelle was amazing, and highly recommended for hire for daily services. Artour, the grounds keeper/security was also very helpful, diligent and kind to our family. Maribelle and Artour also helped us with shopping, arranging travel and navigation of the neighbourhood and attractions. They had diner and refreshments waiting for us when we arrived from the airport, and made all of us comfortable during our entire stay. The home owner Rich was very helpful prior to our trip, and also made several excellent recommendations for services ie Varso Travel for excursions and group outings as well as visiting near by town/beach for NYE fireworks to all celebrate together. Our group had so much fun and made such great memories at this house, we will long be grateful for this amazing spot and experience to share our time together. Thank you!! Laura :)

The pool was beautiful. The beach right there and the acvomidations were great.
The most amazing thing about our stay was Arturo and Maribell, the caretakers for Casa Rector. They were great!!!. Maribelle cooked for us and the meals were delicious. She went to the grocery store with us and showed us what to buy. She kept the house immaculate and even went to the pharmacy when one of our family needed help. Arturo keeps the grounds beautifully and the pool. When we went to the beach he watched over us to keep us safe. He would pick up all our shoes and belongings at night and lock them up and lay them all back out for us the next morning. We felt completely safe with him there. Both were absolutely wonderful and we would have liked to take them home with us. The house was clean and comfortable. Plenty of room for 12 people. Air conditioning in all the bedrooms. We only ate out twice for lunch, the rest of the time Maribell cooked for us. The shrimp restaurant 2 blocks away is delicious. We would go back right now and stay there. We used Varso travel which was right down the street. Very convenient!

Wonderful Home!
Our group of 13 students and 2 chaperones had a wonderful time at the house and on the beach. The caretakers were very attentive and actually had a pizza and fresh fruit waiting for us at our arrival (2 AM!). I had to ask them to stop picking up after our group and wanted the students to be responsible for their things. The home was clean and we had plenty of hot water for showers our group of 15. The caretakers also got up earlier than our group and had coffee waiting on us each morning and prepared huge piles of drift wood for nightly bonfires on the beach. The grounds were immaculate with fresh fruit trees and the pool was cleaned twice a day. There was also plenty of wildlife - birds, iguanas, frogs on the grounds and crabs on the beach. The local town was not very welcoming to tourists, but we made excursions to Jaco, Waterfalls, Zip Lines, Crocodile Man Tour and Flora & Fauna Conservatories all of which were very welcoming to our group.
I am looking forward to my next trip to Costa Rica - PURA VIDA!

Authentic Costa Rican hospitality!
Our group of 10 stayed here at Casa Rector for 3 nights, and we all would have loved to stay longer! Our group was 2 families-- 4 adults and 6 kids under the age of 13. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and would be happy to stay again!
NEGATIVES: But first, I will start with the "negatives" we experienced at the beginning. When we first arrived, we were a little shocked because the streets outside the front gate look run-down. And once we got into the house area, we were a little startled to see that every bedroom opens directly to the outside porch areas, and are not enclosed like a typical house is. This made us a little nervous because of our children, and we didn't want any of them wandering out in the night. Since the youngest child was 8, we were able to manage. But someone with really young kids might want to take that into consideration. One last point- the beach is too rough for swimming and playing most of the day. But in the morning it is fairly calm until at least 8-9am. For us, these things were outweighed by all the positives!
POSITIVES: Rich, the owner, did a great job of staying in touch with me during the time leading up to our arrival. And once we were there, he called to make sure we made it okay. (He lives in the US, so he wasn't there.) We felt so very welcomed by Arturo and Maribel, the property managers. Their genuine hospitality was a blessing the whole time! (They don't speak English, so it would be helpful if you can speak at least a few key words of Spanish.) Arturo is a very hard worker, and the grounds and pool are beautiful and immaculate. Anytime we wanted to walk to a grocery store or restaurant, Arturo walked with us. We felt like he was a guide and protector. Maribel cooked for us, and cleaned up after us faster than we could. All while smiling and encouraging. They are so kind and hospitable, and definitely exhibit the beautiful attitude of welcoming others. It's clear that they love their jobs! We enjoyed some day trips... and definitely recommend Varso Travel. Go do the snorkeling and boat ride to Isla Tortuga, and also go see the white-faced monkeys. They're fun!

This place is amazing!
I would come back here over and over again! My family and I had an issue with the house we originally rented out it was about 11pm in costa rica. None of us wanted to stay there. I remember looking at this property and we called the owner and said he would get the house ready for us and we can stay there that same night. He went out of his way to wake up Maribel and Arturo (they live there and keep the house up to standard) to get the house ready for us. We arrived around 1am and they welcomed us with open arms. The place was clean and roomy. Each room had ac and its own bathroom. Maribel and Arturo were very welcoming! They provided towels for us. Maribel recommended tours for us to do. We went to isla tortuga, atv riding, horse back riding, hiking to waterfalls, visited monkeys! It was amazing! Thank you sooooo much for your kind hospitality!

Canadian family holiday!
Completely enjoyed our Costa Rican vacation! The house is wonderful, everything we could have wanted! We enjoyed the pool and beach (and the dogs!!) Maribel and Arturo were very kind and attentive. I highly recommend having Maribel cook! Arturo kept the yard and pool area spotless, he called taxis for us and escorted us to the bus stop. Maribel made sure we had fresh towels for the pool/beach daily, did laundry for us, and kept the house and our rooms tidy.
We used Varso Travel to pick up the seven of us from the airport, and return us. Maikol helped us decide on trips and outings. We had a great time zip lining, snorkeling, surfing, hiking to a volcano and waterfalls, we visited animal refuges and the mangroves. Maikol was always prompt and courteous. I highly recommend Varso Travel, Maikol and his father Ron were very accommodating and professional.
Rich Rector, the owner of Casa Rector, was very helpful in getting this trip organized. We spoke by telephone several times and emailed often before the trip. He answered all my questions, made suggestions regarding outings and activities. Once we got to Casa Rector, Rich called to make sure we were settled in, and once we got home, called to see how our visit went.
I always say the people "make" the trip. Once again this proved true. Maribel and Arturo were wonderful, we were sad to leave our new friends! Maikol was such fun, fit in with our family very well and made sure we had a good time!
Rich, thank you for sharing Casa Rector, it was the perfect place to gather and enjoy our family!

WOW! It couldn't get any better!
We had a great time. We were very well taken care of. We enjoyed the cook (Marybell) and the caretaker (Artuso) of the property. Breakfast every day was SUPER for our group of 14. We ate dinner there every night. It was always ready when we showed up. We set up most of our tours with Varso Travels. They provided a 24 passenger van for the group the whole 10 days. They even picked us up at the airport and took use back. All this was done at an unbeleivable rate. If you want to see the REAL Costa Rica, let Micheal and his father take care of you while you stay at the most reasonable lodging in the county.

Very comfortable and relaxing
I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed your home! Arturo and Maribel were amazing! Everything was comfortable and inviting. We pretty much just stayed by the pool, watched movies, and walked on the beach. Unfortunately, the mosquitos were out in full force, but nothing a little bug spray couldn't handle. Maribel's cooking was impressive! We had her prepare every breakfast and dinner! She is so proud of your home and her care taking responsibilities. Arturo is equally as proud of the home and his responsibilities. We even managed to convince them to play a game with us on our last evening.
I love the instant hot water for the showers! I'll be looking in to those for my home! If we make a return trip to Costa Rica, I will definitely be contacting you again! Thank you so much!

Home Sweet Home
We sit here knowing we have to leave tomorrow and it breaks my heart. Marybell and Arturo have made this the best part of our vacation and we feel like we are leaving family. This Villa is comfortable, welcoming and relaxing. The food is delicious the hospitality warm and gracious.. They have both catered to our every need with a smile and laughter. I will also miss sweet Coco and Lucky who accompanied me on my daily walks on the beach. You are so lucky Mr. Rector to have these two wonderful, loyal and dedicated people. Marybell is so proud of this home and keeps it impeccable and Arturo takes beautiful care of the ground. They make you want to return.

Great Trip with the Guys!
We couldn't have scripted this better for our first trip to Costa Rica. Rich made arrangements with Varso Travel to pick us up at the airport (and that was at midnight). Michael with Varso spoke English and took us right to the house. Arturo met us at the house at around 2 am in the morning and was very friendly. The next morning, Maribel made us a wonderful breakfast and later went to the grocery store to pick us up our food. We had her cook breakfast and dinner every day, which was awesome. Couldn't get a better pool. The location is very quiet and away from Jaco. Jaco has better waves but we enjoyed the relaxation in the evening since we had major activity/fun during the day. Thank you Rich for making it such a wonderful first experience. Eric

Memorable
The pictures don't do this place justice. It looks way better in person. I went with a group of 9 for a 25th Birthday, and we had an amazing time. Maribel was great she cooked everything and even went shopping for the groceries. Vicinity to the beach is great since it's in the backyard. The house was clean spacious and perfect for a group. The pool was a nice size again extremely clean. The place is in a smaller town but it still was close enough to tourists attractions. Best to practice basic Spanish before going, but we all definitely got by. . We fed monkeys, which was maybe 10mjn away, ziplining was roughly 45min away, city if jaco more tourist-like was an hour. It was an amazing experience and I'd definitely go again!!

Wait, what!?
This was by far one of the most memorable vacations I have had. Upon arrival to the home we were greeted by the man of the house, Authoro (forgive me if I misspelled). He greeted all of us en Español of course then showed us inside.
As soon as those big blue doors opened I saw that gorgeous pool with the colorful lights beaming from underneath. I dropped my bags in my AIR CONDITIONED room and jumped into the cool pool (which complimented the extreme heat).
When I got hungry for a snack I found some pretty awesome sandwiches and sliced fruit in the fridge. Days following, each time I got in the pool there was a fresh towel waiting for me.
Now, Maribel... She is the woman of the house. She took care of all of us; breakfast and phenomenal dinners (I got the recipe to that shrimp). This beautiful woman also went shopping for us on top of cooking.
We had a stereo upstairs and downstairs which made every day feel like a party. The huge net which replaced glasses windows kept all the bugs out.
Oh and before I forget... The best part is the PRIVATE beach in the back. Jesus Christ... Private entrance, clean sand and water... I WAS IN LOVE.
Like I said, a wonderful vacation.

It's hard to even begin describing how much we enjoyed our stay at Casa Rector. After an eye-opener drive in from San Jose (yes, they do drive VERY differently in Costa Rica than in North America!!)we arrived at Casa Rector with great feelings of intrepidation (you never REALLY know what to expect with this type of booking). The nervous feelings vanished immedately once Arturo opened the gates. His warm welcoming smile and friendly, helpful attitude set the tone for the rest of the visit. Marabel is probably about the sweetest person I've ever met. I can't imagine anyone not loving her. I was the interpreter for our party and my Spanish was limited to about 10 hours of reading a spanish lesson book. Needless to say, my spanish was "no mui bueno!!". After a lively game of charades/pictionary we managed to work out a pretty good communication system. She cooked wonderful meals, kept our place very tidy, provided clean sheets and towels as needed, and even took care of our laundry! The accomodations were very clean and comfy with lots of room for the 3 adults and 4 kids in our party. Not exactly five-star but infinitely better for people (especially kids) who are into carefree fun and relaxation rather than hoity-toity luxury and elegance. The pool and backyard are amazing and the ocean and endless sandy beach ARE right outside the back gate. The dogs and parrots also helped to keep our kids from missing their animlas too much. We did a lot of touring around taking in some of the great sites and activities suggested by the owner who called a few times just to make sure everything was going all right. All-in-all it was a fabulous vacation and we are really hoping to go back next year. We highly recommend Casa Rector to anyone looking for an enjoyable experience to remember.

We had a wonderful time at the house. The best part about the place was the pool. It was clean, beautiful and right outside your bedroom door! They had pool toys and towels to use.
The listing was quite accurate. The pictures were very helpful. I was impressed with the fact that the house had a crib and a highchair for our kids. The house keeper and cook were very kind and made us feel right at home. We had a large group and the house fit us perfectly. With all the seperate rooms, each couple had their own room for privacy.
The lot was right on the beach, which was beautiful at night. The waves turned up the sand a little but it was still great.
The location was a little difficult to get to places but only because of the traffic around the country.
My only suggestion would be to have a list of local restuarants and good tours. It would be helpful to have a pitcure to send to people for the last turn to the house.
The house was perfect but the location was not ideal for our travel desires.
We had a great time. I would definately tell others to go, escpecially if they have a big group.
Thanks for everything!

Casa Rector was our casa (8 friends) for 10 days of delight. All the images posted on the website turned out to be an accurate picture of what we found when we arrived.
The rooms were clean, the bathrooms roomy, the pool was our savior in a humid climate we are unaccustomed to. The sunsets on the beach were awesome. Tico and Tica (the resident birds) laughed after saying "wake up" to whoever was resting in the hammocks and we laughed with them. Bronco and Gabby (resident dogs) became our friends and protectors from imaginary evils as we dined together in the common area or lounged around the massive yard.
However, the best for me is the two new friends I made: Arturo and Maribel, the caretakers and chef. They made our stay extra special as they foresaw our every need. Although I speak limited Spanish and they speak limited English, it didn't matter. We bonded as Maribel cooked delightful meals and Arturo demonstrated how to harvest the coconuts - in between his ongoing responsibilities of keeping Casa Rector a paradise.
Casa Rector is conveniently located to the zip-line, Rain Forest and SkyWalk adventures, as well as a "small town" experience in Puntarenas or the "touristy" atmosphere of Jaco.
I readily recommend this casa to anyone who wants to partake in a real Costa Rican experience. The owner called when we arrived to make sure we'd made it and again to make sure everything was ok.
I hope to return with my family to introduce them to my new friends.

Though we did not partake of turkey 'n' taters, we enjoyed rice and beans with our Tico friends on Thanksgiving Day in the lovely Casa Rector! Our son is an exchange student in Puntarenas and our family of five spent Thanksgiving week with him. Our week was so memorable... aside from 85 degrees and sunny, blue skies every single day, and my joy in wearing flip-flops every single day (we're from Wisconsin!), living amidst the locals gave us cultural impressions that we could not have otherwise absorbed had we stayed in a hotel or an all-inclusive resort. Arturo & Maribel, the on-site
caretakers, spoiled us with homemade Tico meals, and a lovely, peaceful yard to enjoy. Awaking to the sound of tropical birds each morning, a walk to the neighborhood market and doing our best to communicate in our very
elementary Spanish, were highlights of the week. We spent much of each day
visiting the attractions in the area, but were eager to return each evening to watch a fishing boat's silhouette against the setting sun on the beach in the backyard of the house. Rich, the homeowner, was most gracious in passing along tips and answering questions before we left on the trip, and even phoned us while we were there to see if everything was going well! It was a wonderful week, and I would recommend anyone heading to this area of Costa Rica to check out this lovely home. P.S. Upon our arrival home in gloomy, cold and rainy Wisconsin, I had to put socks on. Bummer.
