About this apartment rental
Our unit 1002 at Kanaloa provides just the right blend of luxury and value, in an unsurpassed Hawaiian setting. This large (1500+ sq.ft.) and elegant condo is situated on the north edge of the Kanaloa complex, facing the Kona Country Club course about 100 yards off the ocean. It's an ideal setting for fun family vacations or tranquil getaways. If you have stayed at other condo complexes in Kona, you'll be struck by the large size of this unit, as well as the traffic-free environment. We've just completed master bathroom renovation, plus recent kitchen and living room upgrades. It's looking better than ever!
The Castle Kanaloa at Kona resort is famous for its gorgeous tropical landscaping and peaceful ambiance. Kanaloa features three swimming pools with spas, and lighted tennis courts. The 17-acre resort grounds are spacious and quiet, and the coastline is spectacular as Pacific waves break on black lava rock. The surrounding Keauhou Bay area is rich in Hawaiian history, and makes for pleasant walking. Here you are free from the traffic and congestion along Ali'i Drive, but still just minutes away from downtown Kailua-Kona.
The unit is comfortably furnished, island style. You will find a king bed in the master suite and two twin beds (or queen conversion) in the second bedroom. We also have a new queen size, plug-in aero-bed for comfortable sleeping in the living room. There's cable TV and an Apple media player in the living room, and a Bose music player. Fast wifi is available throughout. In the kitchen you'll find everything you need (we just added to or upgraded available cookware, tableware and appliances.)
The large, shady lanai is perfect for morning coffee or evening dining, with lovely garden and mountain views. Then walk out to the ocean pool, or along the rocky shoreline to watch the sunset.
We have owned and managed this unit since 2001, and are committed to quality and fairness. A number of guests come back for extended stays again and again. We live off-island, but our local representative (and the great Kanaloa maintenance department) are always available if need arises. Please contact Scott or Jen if you have any questions, and let us help you plan your trip to the Big Island. Mahalo!

This is our 4th year staying at the Kanaloa Kona condos and our second time in this specific condo. We love the beautiful and relaxing setting and the awesome pools. We have 3 young children and this has been our favorite vacation spot.

We fortunately got to stay in this condo for 2 weeks. The location is great and everything you need is within a short car ride. (Or walk!)
Scott was a great host with quick communication. The condo was equipped with all that we needed, including a brand new pack n’ play.
We enjoyed the use of the beach chairs, toys, and snorkel gear.
Enjoying a morning coffee on lanai while watching the golfers was a relaxing way to start our day.
We definitely would stay here again!

This was our third time to the Big Island and we wanted a place with air conditioning. Very nice condo with well stocked kitchen. The only complaint about the kitchen was the lack of a functioning ice maker. The master bedroom had a very comfortable bed and the bathrooms were very nice. Only downside is maybe a hand held shower head in the master bath since the water pressure in the shower wasn't great. The provided beach towels were a plus, but if there were more than two people, more towels would be needed. When we come back to the Big Island next time, this place will definitely be on our short list of places to stay. Highly recommend!

The condo was open, spacious, clean, and well-appointed within a quiet complex of tropical beauty. The ocean-front campus with three pools was within minutes of Kona, water adventure shops, restaurants, and shopping. This condo is IDEAL in every way!

Great place to stay. Gorgeous sunset views. In a quiet part of town and a short distance to groceries, restaurants, shopping, beaches etc. will stay again if I’m ever back on the big island!

Roomy, comfortable condo. This is a downstairs unit. Consider checking fridge & cupboard before a big shop to see what's there (cooking oil, soy sauce, etc). Nicely appointed kitchen. Comfy beds. Short drive to main shops & places to eat along Ali'i, with a few even closer.

Roaches on the floor, big B52’s and the little ones. The check in process sucks, it’s a hassle and it costs 30 to register? Plus it’s closed in the afternoon. Biggest bummer was that the oceanfront pool was closed and that was one of the deciding factors in booking this place. A little more transparency would have gone far.

My family and I were here for my sons wedding. We arrived late to the place after a long day of travel and security was so sweet and kind for helping us find our condo to get some sleep. And let us finish checking in the next morning. Kona is a beautiful place. And our stay here made it, the place was clean plenty of room for a family great place for kids there’s plenty to do even on the grounds here pools tennis ping pong beautiful walking distance beaches. Groceries and restaurants not even a ten minute walk. Huge Balcony and view of the golf course never gets old. Everything was included to have a wonderful stay. Very peaceful here. Friendly people all around. Would definitely stay here again!

Location is great and check in was pretty easy. The parking is a walk to the unit but is covered. This unit is huge and very nicely furnished. I wish they had a TV is the master bedroom. Internet was good and the kitchen was nice. So much equipment to use in the kitchen. Refrig is going to be replaced and the owner is very responsive. I will be doing a detailed review with pictures online.

Had a nice, smooth, and comfortable stay in Kona. The unit was just right for our family. The grounds are well maintained and the Lanai is very nice in the morning.
Enjoyed the beach with some of the beach gear available to us.
The directions and guide sent in email are worth reviewing to find out good "local" spots.

We had a blast staying here! We were able to enjoy so many activities close to this location- snorkeling just 5 minutes away, and we loved having the boogie boards to take to the sandy beaches further north. Sitting by the pool at sunset was amazing. The place was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Scott was responsive to our requests and overall a great stay. This was our second time staying here and we’ll be back!

Better than pictured!
The view of the golf course was amazing, peaceful gated community, nice large open spaces. Our favorite was the pool with the ocean view. Recommend it!

Good location with view of golf course.
Property was well located. Communication with owner was okay with delayed initial contact. Well stocked unit. Dedicated parking spot, although you’ll get an unexpected shower from the sprinklers (hits the sidewalk) if you come in late. Inconvenient office hours if your flight gets in late or you leave early (for parking pass & gate card). Bathrooms were great, as was lanai. Pleasant surprise to find washer/dryer. A little bit of maintenance needed (blinds, mattress). Enjoyed our stay.

Great spot for snorkelers
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Nice complex & the unit’s location overlooking the golf course with a short stroll to catch the sunset on the ocean was delightful. Great snorkeling at nearby Kahalu’u Beach and also worth the bit longer drive south to Two Steps. Plus 5 minutes to night manta ray snorkel. Convenient to have a grocery store & some restaurants nearby.

Hard to beat
Great place to stay. It was very quiet, with a wonderful view of the golf course, and three amazing pools to enjoy. One of the pools is right on the ocean. Hard to beat.

Worth the savings.
Nice place. Dated. Saved money compared to other places I looked at. Great launching point to explore southern part of the island.

Better than expected
We were so happy with this property! It had everything we wanted and needed. The three pools were amazing, the sunsets right off the beach were astounding, the grounds are almost like a botanical garden! Our condo was comfortable and had everything to make our stay perfect. It even has coolers, a beach umbrella, beach chairs, boogie boards, and beach mats (we added 3 new mats to the mix). The Wi-Fi was not very strong in the bedrooms but was fine in the living room, which is my only complaint.

Amazing Stay
This condo was perfect for us! We stayed in three different places during our time in Hawaii and this was the family favorite! The pools were great and just a short walk outside. The access to town was also quick- surf, site seeing, restaurants, grocery, etc.
The condo was very roomy and our family of five didn’t seem like we were on top of each other. The beds were comfortable and the living area spacious. The lanais were nice to relax on or eat at. The kids even did their virtual school from the lanai! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to make meals and we BBQ’d at the pools too. Everything was very clean from the condo itself to the immaculate pool and grounds. We were very pleased with this condo! Thanks Scott!

Very nice place
We stayed in this condo for 10 days. It was very nice. We particularly liked the location, which was opposite the golf course. Not because we particularly care about golf, but because it was wonderful to look out at the green expanse and listen to the birds. The condo development is in a great location, there are several pools, once of which faces the ocean and is a nice place to be. We would not hesitate to book again.

Wonderful location and home had all we needed
The condo unit is spacious with a lovely patio overlooking the golf course. The walk to the lava rocks at the beach are just a few minutes away. We were pleased with this location and recommend it.

Nice location for quieter stay with pool
We had never been to the Big Island, and were flying pretty blind when choosing what place to rent for 10 days. We ultimately were satisfied with this choice for a number of reasons. The unit is fine - not great, but fine. It's position on the edge of the complex means it generally is pretty private, which was nice - you see the golf course, which isn't that active and the golfers were all quiet. You can see just a little sliver of ocean from the edge of the deck, and it's a quick walk down there at sunset. Being near the adult pool is nice, and it was generally underused. The ocean pool is stunning in location - depending on whether children are crowded in, however, can alter your experience.
The check-in was simple since there is a lock box. We parked fairly close and hauling the bags in wasn't too tough. The kitchen was generally well-enough equipped, and the instructions for trash, etc. were easy.
The ratings slips a little on some of the details. As mentioned by the renter right before us, please note you are on the ground level, and depending on your upstairs neighbor, the noise can be mildly irritating or deeply distracting. We had a "stomper" up there the entire visit, and she(?) seemed to be home all the time. It was like she was trying to get her 10,000 steps in all within the walls of her unit. And she was up by 6 am. I know the owner of our rental can't control that, but if that is something you are sensitive to, be warned. Also, there is a nice open area of grass right outside, which isn't very common in the complex. Great for kids to run around - so keep that in mind if you have kids. Also note that you will hear them if you don't! As others noted, the TV is tricky. We did appreciate the A/C, and when there was a hiccup with it, they got maintenance in quickly.
The unit is worn - the main bed sagged, the vertical blinds worked only partially, the towel rods were falling down (and the owner was attentive to that quickly), and the overhead ceiling fan in the master had a loud vibration all night. So, balance that with the reasonable price when considering this unit.
We really appreciated being one mile to the shopping center. Very convenient not to have to go into Kona for quick trips. Be aware that the drive into Kona is SLOW, whether you are on Ali'i or on Route 11 - if you want in on the action, go north. Seemed like mostly retired folks around us, quiet and peaceful - just what we wanted. Thanks!

Overall great time. Unfortunately had a stomper in upstairs unit that we could hear all too clearly
