Time spent at Lake Place Retreat will help you unwind with boating, swimming, hiking, or simply resting. We are minutes from Tugaloo State Park, Harbor Light Marina (boat rental available), and the Poplar Springs Boat Launch.
Lake Place Retreat features a great room with a stone fireplace, a large sunroom/dining room, hardwood floors throughout, and whitewashed shiplap walls. Watch the game on one of the flat-screen TVs or enjoy the lake view through the wall of windows in the great room. The coffee bar has a Keurig, a traditional drip machine, and a French press. Every coffee cup is different from the next so that you and your guests know whose is whose. Granite countertops complement the fully-equipped kitchen, which also includes a countertop nugget ice maker. Also on the main floor, we have a master bedroom (king) with en suite bathroom, a second bedroom (queen) with a full hall bathroom, and a laundry room with washer/dryer. Upstairs, you will find a cozy sleeping loft with two beds (twin), the third bedroom (queen) and third full bathroom with a tub-shower. A grill and rocking chairs sit on a covered side porch that joins the expansive dual-level deck overlooking the lake. Eight can easily dine on the deck at both high- and low-top tables. Yet another smaller deck can be found off the sunroom. Cozy up to a fire on our large fire pit patio with built-in benches and several Adirondack chairs. Our convenient basement storage room is stocked with two paddle boards and an assortment of floats. Bring your own fishing gear, secure a fishing license, and you'll be set. A gently sloping lot with a pea gravel path guides you toward the single-slip covered dock. The deep-water cove opens to Lake Hartwell's pristine 56,000 acres, where you can enjoy all aspects of water sports, fishing, and swimming.
Minutes away lies historic Lavonia where little shops and restaurants offer a pleasant change from the hustle and bustle of the city. A 30-minute drive will take you Commerce, GA, home to the Tanger Outlets. Clemson University's famous Death Valley stadium is about 45 minutes away. An hour's drive southeast offers the great dining and night life of Athens, GA, or head straight down I-85 for shopping at the Mall of Georgia in Buford. An hour north, you can find yourself in the highly-acclaimed Greenville, SC, complete with its Reedy River Falls Park and famous Swamp Rabbit Trail for biking and hiking enthusiasts. Want a scenic drive? Head west from our place, and in about an hour, you'll be in the quaint Alpine town of Helen in the North Georgia mountains.

This house is AMAZING! The pictures don't do it justice! Two adults and three teenagers and we had plenty of room. The walk down from the house to the lake was easy peasy. There were paddle boards, plenty of floats and beach towels. We went on a hike at Tugaloo State Park, rented a boat for a day and drove to Greenville SC when we weren't enjoying the lake. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short a few days due to unforeseen circumstances and the owners were absolutely amazing to work with. Would highly recommend this house again and again. We will definitely be returning! Thank you for everything!!!

Beautiful property in a quiet part of Lake Hartwell. Our family (kids and adults) had a wonderful time. The home was spacious and the back porch was lovely to relax on. Tugaloo State Park is nearby if you bring your boat. Would stay again!

This is one of the best homes our group has rented. It was very clean and well furnished. The kitchen is compact, but has everything you could need. The small porch fridge is great for soft drinks.
The upstairs worked well for my nephew and his family. The four adult women shared the downstairs bedrooms. The beds were comfortable. It was nice to have 3 bathrooms. The laundry room was convenient also.
A/c and ceiling fans kept the home cool during very hot weather.
We were able to play games in the sunroom and others could visit or watch tv in the living room.
The walk to the lake was gradual and easy to navigate. It does have one steep step. The dock worked well for launching kayaks and paddleboards. We were able to swim off it also and the water was clean.
The first floor is very accessible for anyone with limited mobility, but there are steps into the home. The step to the porch is a little steep.
Phone service is spotty but there is internet.
The owners were very responsive to any questions.
I would recommend this home and hope to rent it again.

I have never stayed at a VRBO that had such a greatly stocked kitchen. You made it easy fir us to cook and store food as well as do laundry when needed. The dock was great for swimming and fishing from. We enjoyed our vacation and had to bring very little with us. We hope to be back sometime.

First and foremost, the owners communicated expectations and were very responsive to questions. Unfortunately, the fire pit was destroyed right before your stay. The owners were up front and let us know right away what happened, and even provided pictures. We chose to stay and were not disappointed. The house was extremely clean and welcoming. The kitchen, though small, was well stocked. Highly recommend.

Very happy as always by the ease of communication, the beauty of the property, location, and the true home away from home feel. Elizabeth and Keith, the property managers, were completely friendly, accommodating and helpful at every stage of our rental, and they provided such great information for us. All of us want to rent this home again and will likely try to find times every year to go there! I would recommend it without reservation. You will not be disappointed!

We checked into this beautiful property on a Thursday afternoon for a long weekend. It was my self and my husband, his parents, his brother and his wife. We had no children with us- thankfully! I’ll mention why in a few. This trip was a Christmas gift from us to them. On Friday, my brother and sister in law came downstairs very alarmed as they had found an unsecured, loaded revolver handgun in the bedside table of the loft. We were extremely distraught by this discovery. I immediately texted Elizabeth and told her what we found and expressed my concerns. She seemed not as concerned as I was. She said it probably belonged to the previous renter, and that usually housekeeping would find something like that, but obviously they hadn’t. All of Friday night, Saturday, Saturday night we reeled about the irresponsibly of this gun owner, the irresponsibly of our host, and how TERRIBLE this situation could have turned if we were not all responsible adults. If we had children with us they would have assumed this tiny gun was a toy. We also thought perhaps this gun was stolen, or had committed crimes, or what if the gun owner came back and wanted the gun while we were staying there. It was a very, very unsettling feeling. We searched the rest of the house to see if we would find any additional surprises and thankfully we didn’t. My brother in law unloaded the gun and we put it in a place where the housekeepers/hosts could find it. We should not have had to do all that. On Sunday morning the day of our checkout, Elizabeth said the gun owner would get the gun that day. I again expressed to her how this situation really strained our trip and she really just said sorry, but offered nothing to aid in the situation. I texted Elizabeth again the following Tuesday to ask for some compensation and she was unwilling to offer anything. I asked for a partial refund but was not granted that. Of course this situation could have ended COMPLETELY different and I don’t think Elizabeth would be so nonchalant if someone had gotten hurt with a loaded gun that was left by “someone” in her home. So my review is the home is beautiful, however, this situation really should have been reconciled by the host because there should have NEVER been an unsecured loaded gun in the home with me and my family. We are gun owners but we are RESPONSIBLE. Had this situation not occurred we probably would have rebooked. However I just cannot get over the compromised safety. Guests beware!

Best Vacation money I’ve ever spent in GA
I went up for a media event in north GA. I attend annually and will likely try to get this location from now on if possible. If I could give 10stars I would. The house, neighborhood, lake, amenities, everything was 100% on point!! Great place to spend some time. I only wish I’d have had more time to relax vs work while I was there. Can’t wait to visit again.

Nice Place
If you’re looking for nothing to do but float in the lake, this place is it. Would have enjoyed a close by bar/grill/ happy hour place. House was nice, kitchen with all the supplies but is way too small. The family room furniture is old and uncomfortable. Other amenities were great. We would have to rent a boat for the week if we were to stay again.
