About this house rental
The Red Barn Guest House is a beautifully remodeled home with amazing details that makes this vacation rental truly unique! Sleeping 6 guests, this home has stone and ship-lap walls, walnut beams and ceilings, and wide plank flooring that gives it an authentic and upscale barn feel.
The main floor has a kitchenette with a stainless steel mini refrigerator, and microwave, and an induction cook top, crock pot, and toaster for eating in. Cozy built-in nook seating and dining table for eating leading into a lounging area with comfy couch for watching the flat screen TV, playing one of the house's board games, or just visiting and relaxing. Two beautiful custom barn doors divide the living room/kitchen area from the main floor bedroom with a queen bed and mesmerizing Opti-myst Fireplace. Also on the main floor is a full bathroom with a granite tile dual-headed shower, and closet with stacked washer/dryer.
Follow the unique spiral staircase up to the second story bedroom with a matching iron queen bed and double bed. A flat screen TV with Wii console, Wii games, DVDs and other toys will keep the younger crowd happy for hours!
The window upstairs looks over the spacious yet very secluded feeling backyard. A huge old-growth Poplar Tulip tree shades the green lawn, and concrete patio nicely. A little sidewalk leads to the side of the barn where a large private hot tub awaits surrounded by a tall privacy fence and lovely landscaping. The small shed in the backyard has plenty of outdoor games for everyone!
Between the Barn and Main Street, there is only building (the wonderful Magpie's Cafe), so it is easy walking distance to all the unique shops and restaurants Historic St. Charles has to offer!
The story of this historic barn makes it like no other home you've ever rented. Built in 1790's as a stable for the Second Commandant of St. Charles, Carlos Tayon, in conjunction with his home right next door. It is said that Lewis and Clark had dinner with him here before leaving on their expedition! Since then it has had many different owners in more than 200 years who have used it as a residential home, until we bought it and spent the last year making it into the exceptional space that we offer to you today!

We had a wonderful stay in this adorable barn. This was our second visit. We loved being located right in St. Charles. We enjoyed the table in the beautiful back yard. All of the beds and bedding were comfortable and cozy. The air conditioning worked great! It was super clean! We can’t wait to stay again when we visit family in the area!

My husband and I stayed with our kids (ages 4, 9, and 10) over the 4th of July holiday. We all loved the convenient location and the house itself, and the kids are already asking to go back! Highly recommend.

Very cute place. Close to all the St Charles shops. Only disappoint was the place was really dusty.

The barn was adorable! It was very clean and so was the hot tub! We loved that it was right off the Main Street in town and we could walk around.

Just what we needed, in the heart of St. Charles. Very close to downtown but private and peaceful. The passion and craftmanship are evident, everywhere you look. Cozy n comfy.

I can not possibly think of one negative thing about our stay. The location was perfect. Everything was clean and well maintained. We never used any of the TVs or kitchen appliances because we spent most of our down time relaxing in the cute and cozy back yard (we were blessed with perfect weather). We did not want to leave and can’t wait to come back!

We were very impressed with the Red Barn's location (walking distance) to everything on Main Street. The home has everything we needed and wanted.
We do have one question for you, how did you get the two beds upstairs?

Forty family members gathered in the St. Louis area for my mom's 93rd birthday. Many of us were minutes away from each other along Main Street in St. Charles. It was a perfect location for us since we are all walkers and foodies. The Red Barn Guesthouse was a perfect fit for the 6 of us!

Right from the start of our stay we were very impressed! It had snowed and Matt (the owner) came by and shoveled all walking areas and the parking spot. He was super friendly and very inviting! The Red Barn Guest House was so nice, that pictures don’t do it justice. We loved seeing the book of before and after photos and all the work that Matt and Audrey did to make it the perfect place to stay. The location is great. Such an easy walk to everything on Main Street. We couldn’t believe how easy the drive was to Beale Street and Mark Twain Village/Basspro. We are already planning our next trip to St. Charles and will most definitely be booking with Matt/Audrey and the Guest House Co again!

This rental is the perfect location for fun in St. Charles. We loved that we could go out the door and be right in the action of St Charles. Magpie's restaurant is literally one house down. The farmhouse was immaculate and perfect for our stay. Very clean, nice comfy beds, and nicely decorated. We would definitely stay here again and will tell our friends and family. We are interested in the other rentals that this couple owns as well. I am sure they are just as nice as this one. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This is the perfect location if you would like to be close to historic downtown St. Charles. You are walking distance to everything on Main Street and the riverfront attractions. The Red Barn was very clean and comfortable and the hot tub was a nice way to end the day. I appreciated the keypad lock on the door (you're assigned a PIN #) so we did not need to worry about keeping track of keys and we were able to find parking on the street right outside. They supplied a few snacks, bottles of water, Keurig cups, towels and paper products. Overall, we would highly recommend staying here and were very impressed with the owners as well.

The Red Barn is just a lovely rental. The care and detail that was done during the renovation is top notch. We really enjoyed the backyard space. It was a wonderful oasis during the steamy St. Louis summer. The rental is just steps away from Historic St. Charles and was perfect for dining and shopping. We had an amazing stay at the Red Barn.

We had an excellent time staying at the the red barn house! It was perfect for a three day mini get away! The only feedback I could give would be to hang a mirror somewhere outside the bathroom. It was difficult to get everyone ready with one bathroom, so an additional mirror for hair, make up, contacts, etc. would be really helpful. We loved the fireplace and hot tub!! The decor is adorable!! We loved that it was within walking distance to so many places!

We had a great time! The Red Barn was just what we needed for some quiet time to relax and take our time in St. Charles. The location is the perfect distance from the main street so you don't have to walk far to find something to do, but it's also not right on the "main drag" where you'd have people walking by all the time. Thanks for the hospitality!

This property was BEYOND any of our dreams! I surprised my mom and daughter with a Mother's Day weekend! Daughter is 8, mom is over 70. We ALL had the best time! Very clean (and I'm very OCD about this). Fun in the hot tub. Beautiful area. Unique barn style home! Loved it and can't wait to visit another of their locations!

It was a perfect location where we got to enjoy everything St. Charles has to offer with only a few steps from our door.
We went into St. Louis to do some tourist stuff and that was an easy commute in and out.
Overall it was an amazing trip. I have already texted the link of the listing to my friends in the Midwest and I hope they book the place.
We will be back!

Our family of 5 had a cozy stay in the little red barn! We loved eating and shopping on Main Street! The home was decorated so cute and the kids loved the room upstairs. We enjoyed the hot tub and playing the yard games in the back yard. It was so nice to stay somewhere that had a backyard to enjoy. The home was clean and well stocked. We will for sure stay again!
