Skip the traffic to Duck and enjoy our private oasis in the trees on the ocean side of Hwy 12 in Southern Shores. Only 10 minutes from the Wright Memorial Bridge and two lots back from the beach, Willems Beach Club @ Southern Shores is an ideal vacation destination for those looking to relax in a private "treehouse" like setting. Enjoy ocean views, two levels of wrap around decks overlooking the pool, and plenty of space for the entire family to relax. Go for a bike ride or try surfing, kayaking or paddleboarding - lots of beach toys are included. Our home sits at the end of a cul-de-sac and is surrounded by tree canopy to create privacy from nearby homes while still allowing panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean from the deck. The private beach path is right beside our house, making it an easy 3 minute walk to the beach. All 5 bedrooms are spacious and have sliding glass doors opening out to two levels of wrap-around decks. We allow one well behaved dog over one year old to join you on vacation with our prior approval and pet fee (no exceptions!).
Major renovations inspired by HGTV were completed in May 2017, a new pool was installed in 2018, a new upper deck was built in 2022, and new siding was completed in 2023. You will love our coastal decor and fully stocked kitchen! Renovations include updated flooring throughout, light fixtures, paint, furniture and decor, gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, quartz counters, and a farm sink. We also added a bathroom to create 3 Master Suites w/King beds. Our home also offers 1 Queen bedroom and a Pyramid Bunk (full over twin) bedroom that share a bath, a game room, an outdoor shower, a charcoal grill, a laundry room, flatscreen tvs and free secured wifi. Our guests can also enjoy the Southern Shores Civic Association amenities including tennis/pickleball courts, a marina, playground, and Soundfront park and beach.
Conveniently located 5 minutes from both Kitty Hawk and Duck, you can easily get to all of the OBX towns to enjoy the restaurants, shops, and local attractions such as Wright Memorial, Jockey's Ridge, NC Aquarium, The Lost Colony, H2OBX waterpark, movie theater, outlet shops, etc. There is a paved bike path through Southern Shores and Duck so you can walk or ride bikes from the end of our street into Duck for shopping, dinner or to visit the original Duck Donuts!

This may have been the best rental I have ever stayed in! Our family loved the home and it had everything we needed. We like to cook and the kitchen was stocked with everything. The pool was a wonderful respite from the heat on the beach. Everything was clean and the rooms were tastefully decorated. Communication with the owner was A++++

The house was comfortable and updated! The location was perfection. Close enough to conveniences, while still feeling tucked away and close to Duck! The constant breeze, ocean views, and sunsets made this home magical. Oh, and the Myrtle Oaks that surround the house and beach path are beautiful and add privacy. Dreamy.
Our son was married at the Kitty Hawk PierHouse, and this was only a couple of miles away!
Our grandkids loved the pool!

We had a lovely vacation with family to this property. Weather was great, rooms were adequate for our group size, kitchen was well stocked with gadgets, some spices left over which helped, the pool and hot tub were perfect and adequate beach supplies so you don’t have to rent more stuff. Great location and private beach access was perfect. Lots of deck and table space for accommodating groups.
Wasn’t prepared to rent towels (first time having to do that as we haven’t rented on the east coast before!) and at this expense it would have been one less thing for us to worry about, but we figured it out. It would also be nice if there were some youth life jackets available, but we were able to buy some locally.
We loved Duck Doughnuts, the donut ice cream shop, the boardwalk in town, and we even snuck out to play Pickleball twice! Highly recommend “chasing crabs” at dusk, the kids loved that. We spent most of our time in and around the home!

Spacious house with a great location; close to beach, yet secluded. Nice access to beach path. Ample living area and kitchen space. Pool and hot tub were both clean and in good condition. Host was kind, communicative, and quick to respond to questions.

We enjoyed staying here very much! Our family stayed here for our family vacation, we had my immediate family of 3 and 1 family of 4 and then our parents(grandparents) there was more than enough room for everyone to have their own space. The pool was great and the hot tub was really nice too! It wasn't a far walk to the beach either which was very nice

We loved everything about this home- it’s proximity to the beach and shopping, the privacy of the backyard and pool, and the house itself- beautifully decorated, spacious kitchen great for preparing family meals, bedrooms with their own private baths, and beautiful decks w/ lovely views to enjoy with the nighttime breeze. Our family loved every minute!

This was our family's first trip to the Outer Banks all together. We found this house a year ago and couldn't wait to go. Check in was super easy. Kitchen fully stocked. Suggestion-bring some drink ice to get you started and then just fill the trays. We needed a cocktail!! Seating was great-so many places to eat inside and out. So much space for everyone to relax. Hammock was perfect for relaxing. Wifi worked great.
Pool was perfect. Trees made it so private. SOOOOOO many pool toys! All the beach toys, bikes, boards, etc you would ever need. The wagon was a huge help. Kids LOVED the game room and they could play without anyone else hearing the noise.
Location was perfect. 3 miles south of Duck (covered bike paths great for biking, walking and running) and maybe a mile (not even) north of the 158/12 split off. Such a great location for getting to all parts of the Banks.
Miranda was a super host. Very helpful and responsive. We loved it so much, we are going back next year!

This is a great property for a family vacation. The house is located on a quiet, secluded street just a few minutes easy walk to the beach. We had bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone, and the pool is a welcome respite from the beach at times. We highly recommend it.

This was our families first time renting this home.
We had plenty of room to spread out. Enough bedrooms and baths for the 7 of us to stay. Lots of outdoor deck areas to enjoy. Loved having the hot tub and pool for the times the weather wasn’t great to go to the beach. Very convenient short walk to the beach. The Kitchen had all the supplies you would need if you decide to cook. We had a very nice time, and we would consider staying again in the future.

Our stay was wonderful! The house was just as advertised and much more. Plenty of room for all of us and very clean. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. Easy walk to the beach and lots to keep kids entertained. The owner was wonderful to work with! We will for sure be back to the OBX!

This was our families first visit to OBX, and it was fantastic. Miranda was an excellent host- super responsive and helpful with all of our questions. The house fit our family with lots of room to spare, and was perfectly located a short walk to the beach, a quick ride to the convenient stores in Kitty Hawk, and close to duck’s quaint downtown. We would definitely stay here again, and look forward to our next visit to OBX! Thank you for hosting us Miranda!

House was beautiful with a quick walk to the beach! All all the necessary kitchen items for great family dinners. A bathroom for each bedroom was a nice rough as well! Owners were very accommodating and created a great home away from home!

The house was beautiful, exceeded all expectations! Loved sitting on the upper deck in the morning sun. Walk to the beach was easy! Will definitely return! One call out for others - the house has a lot of stairs so may not be the best for those with mobility issues. And watch out if you bring your dog, our little guys kept stepping on little burs/prickers that were all over the pathways. And they are sharp! But we loved the house and the location!

This was one of our most favorite OBX rentals ever. The house was just beautiful -- very well appointed, comfortable in every way. Beds, furniture, layout, seating options... all added to a very enjoyable vacation. Lots of items in the kitchen, which is great for us since we do a lot of our own cooking one vacation. (However, we did enjoy a few dinners in Duck and caught some incredible sunsets while dining!) Super convenient and easy walk to the beach, and we enjoyed the pool and hot tub afterward. We've bookmarked this house and would love to come back.

Family trip. We had a great time both at the beach and hanging out by the pool and jacuzzi. Wry clean and had everything we needed. Very private location, off the main road, but still close to the beach and shops. Miranda (the owner) was great. We loved it!

First the good : great upper deck, great pool, good kitchen, good great room, quiet neighborhood with deer and rabbits, easy to get out onto NC 12
Now the bad : the closets are small, bath has no place to store shampoo etc, poor flooring installation with stair treads being trip hazard, ahrubberry is overhrown making house hard to find on first visit, priced 20 - 25 % too high, covered porch is not screened but still good to get out of sun, gate on top deck is too heavy for hinges and is sagging
I would not rent again.

Excellent house and excellent location. Tons of space for 10 people with plenty of house/decks to spread out. On my watch I timed the walk to the beach, from stepping off of the patio to cresting the dunes took 3m and 3s and that was with kids, 7 beach chairs and cooler in tow so the walk is short. There’s a secluded path for half the walk then you walk on a road and then on a poured walkway up to the dunes of which there is a very nice set of stairs up and over the dunes. The road is not at all busy as we might have been passed by 4 cars while walking on that road for the entire week. The bikes provided with the house have been eaten alive by the salt; 3 were in decent/working condition; the rest ranged from buckets of rust to inoperable. This is the best set of dishes/pots/pans/cooking appliances we’ve had while staying at a rental. With 10 people, “normal” sized pans/bowls won’t do. The mixing bowls/pots/pans were all oversized and in excellent shape. The place was great and would definitely stay here again.

Home Away From Home, Only Better at the Beach!
We had an awesome stay at Willem's Beach House! With all of the amenities and literally a fully stocked kitchen, it was truly like being in your own home. The house, which is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac, is only a short walk from the beach. It was great to have the pool after a hot day on the beach. Having an ensuite bathroom for each of the bedrooms was key and much appreciated by our family. We very much enjoyed our time together in this beautiful house!

All bedrooms open up to the decks which are surrounded by trees and each have a bathroom (hooray for that!!!). The house offers privacy outside and so much space inside as well that the 4 adults and 3 teenagers in our group could easily be alone when we wanted.
The walk to the beach is about 3 minutes. The beach… it is private so there is a lot of space right over the dune entry point. People are pretty spread out so you could not hear those nearest to you talking, which was my first time experiencing that and it was amazing. Early mornings and evenings were also a great time to pop over to the beach with just me and my dog (leashed dogs allowed before 9am and after 6pm) - so peaceful and serene. And don’t forget to go surf fishing! And eat at Steamers - great food and service!
The pool, the hot tub, outdoor shower… everything about this place was perfect for us. I can’t think of one negative except I wish I had booked a longer stay. Do yourself a favor - experience something beautiful and scoop up this OBX gem!
