About this cabin rental
Loon Lodge was purchased in the spring of 2016 and renovated to be family friendly, open, and comfortable! We hope you enjoy sharing our Maine getaway! You can see some of the renovation and lake photos on Instagram @LoonLodgeMaine
House: There are 3 bedrooms on the upper floor (master with queen bed, guest room with full bed, and guest bedroom with two twin beds), 3 bathrooms, and a bonus room downstairs with a pullout couch for extra sleeping. Bedrooms also have plenty of room for a pack and play (available), air mattress, etc. Living & dining room have huge windows that overlook the lake as well as a new rustic dining table and huge sectional couch. There is a full kitchen with an eat-in breakfast area and desk. The house has a small deck, 3-season porch, fire pit, and a charcoal grill.. Also, if you're coming with little ones, there is plenty of baby/toddler gear available if needed (bed rails, high chair, toddler dining chair, pack and play, books, games, kids plates/cups/bowls/etc).
Lakefront and Lake Description: Stairs lead from the house down the hill to a private beach area with 4 sections of dock, canoe, paddle boat and kayak available for use (included). Norcross Pond is one mile long with camps and homes along one side only – keeping the lake quiet. Water is clear and the lake has a sandy bottom for great swimming. Speed boats, pontoon boats, and jet skis are allowed, but since the lake is small you don't gets boats out all day. A boat ramp is available if you want to bring your own boat (note, the boat ramp is dirt and steep). The lake is full of bass, perch, and stocked with trout, so bring your fishing rods. There are also nearby places for blueberry picking, hiking, movies, ice cream, restaurants, etc. Fall is wonderful for walking around the lake, hiking at nearby mountains, kayaking, canoeing, and viewing foliage. Winter is perfect for ice fishing (stocked with trout), snowmobiling (trails are next to the lake to get you throughout the Maine trail system), ice skating, and skiing at an array of ski areas within an hour.
Local Things to Do: blueberry/strawberry/apple picking, movie theater, ice cream, lobsters, restaurants, markets, festivals, antique shops, biking, breakfast at the Post Office Café (a must!), and more.
Nearby Excursions: Farmington, Belgrade Lakes, Mount Blue, multiple ski mountains, Sandy River Railroad, DEW Animal Farm, Norlands Living History Center, Golf (Turner Highlands, Sandy River, Wilson Lake, and others), U Maine Farmington events, and more. Lots of excursions (hiking, skiing, ocean, and more) within 1-2 hours.

First stop on our week long Maine honeymoon from Michigan. The lodge was the perfect spot to relax and recharge for a few days. Took so many pictures of the beautiful area but nothing beats enjoying it in real life. Thanks for a vacation we'll talk about for many years!

The Loon Lodge is very nice. Everything was in good order and comfortable. There was plenty of stocked items that are not usually found in rented properties. Plenty of towels and linens for a larger group. I would definitly recommend staying here for anyone that want a good experoence in Maine.

Overall, very clean home right on the lake. The house came with everything we needed,(even though we brought our own). Will definitely recommend to friends/ family.

The house was very well equipped, especially the kitchen. We enjoyed the lovely view of the lake, we slept well, we were able to use it as a base to visit other places in Maine.
We found the steps down to the lake hard for us because between us we have 2 knee replacements and 2 hip replacements. If the weather had been warmer I don't think I would have minded, but it was cool out and the lake water was cold so.
The beds were very comfortable. We were surprised at the amount of traffic on the small road in front of the house, but there was enough room to walk our dog on the side of the road.
We had a very enjoyable week at Loon Lodge.

Perfect get-away to reconnect with spouses and friends! Loon Lodge is spacious, clean and well-maintained. Thoroughly enjoyed perfectly sized and quiet Norcross Pond for the kayak, canoe, raft (provided) and paddle board (we brought). Regardless of the weather, it’s still a great place to stay! Looking forward to renting again next year!

This was a last-minute vacation, and we were fortunate to find such a well-appointed home. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked. Having the kayak, canoe and paddle boat available was a terrific bonus. The owners were responsive and a pleasure to work with. Thanks for a wonderful week!

Lion Lodge was homey and comfortable. It was a great place for kids with thoughtful toys, books and drawing supplies. The kitchen was also well equipped with all we needed. We enjoyed the float and the various boats. Great tv and movie access, too.

Property is well maintained. Cottage had anything you could have wanted and needed. We enjoyed our days swimming and floating, nights were spent by the campfire
and playing games. Very fun week for all.

My family used to rent from this same family in the 60’s & we’ve always wanted to go back. The house is lovely with a great view of Norcross Pond. It’s a graded trail down to the lake. Super dock & beach! Three baths here, and really 2 living room areas. Great kitchen, comfy beds and a huge dining table. Can’t wait to get back to the call of the loons!

Couldn't have asked for a better spot for the price - we had plenty of room for the kids to run around, 2 couples to have their space. Beach has wadable water without a drop off; great for kids. The kids loved fishing off the dock or from the paddle boat.

Amazing Fathers Day weekend!
Laurie and Ian have the best property! Communication with Laurie was easy, fast and helpful. We rented the property for a short get away and fell in love with the beautiful house and the views. Can’t wait to rent again and enjoy the lake more. The property was fully equipped with everything we needed! 100/10, my family definitely recommends staying here. We got to meet Laurie and her mother and thoroughly enjoyed our small chat with them and their dogs. We felt very comfortable and at peace where we stayed.

Great lake house in a quiet area
I rent lake houses all over the north east and this is one I will definitely be coming back to. It is a well maintained home with a lot of space and the hosts literally though of everything. It was exactly as described, in fact I feel they are being humble and it was nicer than expected based off their description. Though I did not bring the family, it would be an excellent choice for a family get away. Everying was clean, the host was very easy to work with and again, I do this fairly frequently and this is one of the good ones that I hope to revisit soon. Rent here with confidence.

What a lovely respite
Loon Lodge is really lovely. You walk into the main dining/living room with that view of the lake and it is stunning! Kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, the beds are super comfortable, the wifi worked fine, and most of all - it was super quiet! Sadly, I only got to hear the loons for the first few days, then they were out of there (but that is all about timing!). Very reasonable price for all the space. The location is about 15 minutes from anything - which is fine - especially if you are like me and want a little isolation. But the neighbors were friendly when we met walking the dogs. The owners were also really super to work with - very responsive and helpful. Really - you can't go wrong with Loon Lodge.

Family friendly getaway spot
We had a lovely time at Loon Lodge! We traveled with another couple who had a 3 month old and enjoyed a week of lazing by the water, cooking great meals and playing board games in the spacious living room. Having the canoe, kayak and paddle boat was such a treat - we went out on the water every single day. We'll be back for sure.

Perfect family get away!
We had such an amazing week at Loon Lodge. From the moment we pulled in to the driveway, the pond just drew you in. The house was just as welcoming, with the amazing views from the living area and master bedroom. The house was clean and had just about everything we could think of: plenty of books & games for the restful times (in addition to Netflix and dvds), and the kayak, canoe and paddle boat were enjoyed by all of us. Plenty of room for us all to be together, but also have a little space with the lower level area. And hanging out on the dock fishing was so great, both my boys caught their first fish, adding to the magic of the week. Looking forward to when we can visit again!

Beautiful Lake House
We had an amazing time at Loon Lodge. The house is much bigger and nicer than the photos show.
House is well stocked with bedding, blankets, pillows, cleaning products, games, pots and pans and so on. Furniture is new and comfortable (beds, couches, tv, dinning table). The fire pit area is so much fun. We roasted marshmallow every night. The location is perfect. Quiet neighborhood. The lake is great for kayaking, canoeing and swimming. Laurie and Ian have all the gear we needed to enjoy our stay. We will plan to be back next year!! Thank you Laurie for sharing this beautiful house with us!

Mainer loves this pristine Maine lakeside treehouse
Ok it’s not really a treehouse...but it is a beautiful three story lakeside four season cabin. My best friend and I just got to break in our new kayaks on the lovely pond, and the husband and adventurous teen could join us with couple of nice boats provided. We fished, watched sunsets, and had several awesome campfires with s’mores and sparklers and the stars, moon and the hollow, ethereal calls of the loons over the lake.
This house is beautifully and tastefully equipped for comfy get-togethers with friends and family; we have teens but I do remember how much stuff you need for babies and wee ones. This house has everything from feeding to bedding to tons of toys and books.
Loved it here and hope to come back someday to make more lakeside memories.

Lovely house, perfect spot on the lake
We enjoyed our stay! The listing was accurate -- the house was very comfortable and we had access to everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. I appreciated the ability to borrow some baby and kid gear as well as access to the canoe. Some other listings mention the proximity to a fast road - I wouldn't let that deter you. The house is landscaped to create some separation from the road; I was never worried about kids or dogs wandering too close so long as I was present. We enjoyed all of our meals out in the picnic area and around the firepit. Really was a lovely stay and I would absolutely consider coming back again.

Lovely family getaway
Our family truly had a fun family vacation. House. We paddle boated, canoed, we swam almost everyday and we brought our own boat and went tubing and wakeboarding and fishing. Campfires with smores every night. Lauries home is welcoming and the amenities for children is very nice, crayons,, books, candy land board game, bouncers etc was a treat for our little ones.

Nice laid back environment! Owners easy to work with
Laurie and her family are wonderful to deal with! Her dad helped us plan/navigate our snowmobile outings. IF you are considering taking a snowmobile trip there are some things you should know. I don't see many/if any reviews that include help on this matter so here's mine:
You need to get with some locals (or Laurie's dad) to help navigate the trail systems. Once you get the hang of it and what trails to be on you'll have nice rides. There is hardly anywhere to go/stop except a random gas station about every 50 miles. There really isn't a place to stop, get warm, have lunch, take a break. We are used to bars and restaurants in NY outside of town limits etc. If you want to put miles on...maine is the place. If you want to have a ride, meet people, rest, have lunch, move on...a casual day...Maine is not the type riding for you. The trails are well groomed and maintained and signage is the best we've ever encountered in any state. I am geographically challenged and would be hard for even me to get lost!
I took off a star only because I feel this house would greatly benefit from a water filtration system. The water is very strong sulfur and can be quite the turn off doing dishes, showering etc. It does funky things to your hair and skin. Other than that it was a great house! Dog friendly but not a ton of running room for them. Thankfully the lake was frozen and they had a blast running around the vast expanse of the iced lake. The general store 3 miles away actually has great pizza and even delivered to us because we were in for the night and had a couple of drinks. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Rangeley is about an hour away but is very popular for snowmobilers so my advice (just like any trail system) is to avoid weekends and if you have to ride on a weekend go EARLY. Very early.
Around this house/area snowmobile traffic was a minimum. We sadly didn't see any moose but on our last day of riding we got stopped by DEC and guess what?!?!?! It was MacCabe from North Woods Law!!! He stated that they film in that area quite a bit. Was the highlight of our trip and thankfully he wasn't opposed to a photo op!!!
