About this cottage rental

This quiet lake front cottage built in 2021 located on Little Otter Lake in the Lake James Chain offers the best of both worlds. Little Otter Lake is great for fishing, kayaking and swimming. A fifteen minute boat ride through the Big Otter Lake channel connects you to skiing, tubing and more on Snow Lake, Lake James and Jimmerson Lake. A row boat is included in the rental, however you will need to provide your own speed boat or pontoon boat. Dock space is available upon request.

This single story, 800 square foot home, with 60 feet of lake frontage has all the amenities needed for a great vacation. The interior of the cottage is clean and inviting, with quartz counter-tops, stone fire place, hardwood heated floors and washer and dryer. There is one bedroom with a queen bed, one bathroom with walk-in shower, plenty of closet space and no steps. There is a 320 square foot deck overlooking Little Otter Lake that provides a great view with a retractable awning. Inside, the many windows allow for an outside feel with the comfort of the indoors. There is a private driveway with beautiful landscaping. This is a wonderful way to get away even during the fall and winter months.

Our Little Otter Retreat is located 1 mile from Pokagon State Park which offers tobogganing, hiking, and cross-country skiing. A public access boat ramp is located 1 mile from the cottage. Two local wineries and one brewery are within 5 miles as well as a variety of local and chain restaurants.

The cottage has both shaded and sunny areas while the beach is firm and great for swimming. Little Otter lake is known for great fishing and Tri-State Bait and Tackle is only 0.2 miles away. Potawatomi Snowmobile trails with 35 miles of trails, are 7 miles away.

every day was over 90 but cabin was cool and comfortable from fans and air conditioning , swimming right off the dock, very clean and well equipped, enjoyed our stay

The cottage was just perfect, easy to find, love the view and the lake. The Pannings are wonderful, and the bottle of wine was an extra special treat to help us celebrate our anniversary. Everything you need is at the cottage but there is also lots of local eateries and attractions nearby. Bring fishing poles lots of fish around the dock, bring a book or just enjoy the view. We definitely will be back for more stays. Perfect way to spend a few days to get away.

Quiet neighborhood and nice privacy at the cottage. Parking for 2 cars for the most part. Lakeshore is excellent for kayak launching and view. Floating dock out front too. Inside was very clean and nicely decorated. Kitchen is stocked pretty well and a nice island for 4 people if you need. Deck is great with lots of chairs and space. No hottub/spa tub that we saw (like the ad says) but we werent there for that anyway. Close to hiking trails and dining options. Hosts are very organized, generous, and attentive. Thank you.

We booked this for a 3 night birthday getaway and to explore this lake area. The State Park is really nice, Satek winery & Tom’s donuts are nice to visit. Little Otter Retreat is really nice and has everything to make it feel like home. We loved relaxing on the deck with a glass of wine.

This property is immaculate and has everything you need for a fun and relaxing stay. It has beautiful views, it’s close to all the local attractions, & the hosts are fantastic to work with. We will 100% book again and make this a frequent stop on our adventures!

This was a short getaway to relax and unwind. This place was amazing. From the first day I arrived you feel the serenity and everything was immaculate. The view of the lake is stunning. You won’t be disappointed if you book this beautiful retreat. There’s lots of great shopping and restaurants if you want to get out and explore.

This place was beautiful and clean, we enjoyed the oversized deck the best we could with the weather being cold. It was great to have the fireplace, to come in and warm up with. The hosts were very friendly and provided us with good information about the area. We hope to visit again when the weather is warmer.

If I could give more than 5 stars to the property and management I would! In many ways this place was the nicest VRBO I have stayed at by far and the property management was exceptional. I will be staying here next time I am in town.

From start to finish, our stay could not have been better. The owners are absolutely delightful and very attentive. The property is perfect! My husband, kids, and I played all day - on the rafts, row boat, kayak, and floating dock - and relaxed all evening sitting at the fire pit and watching the peaceful lake from the balcony. We simply didn't want to leave this amazing spot.

The Little Otter Retreat was great! We stayed here during a family reunion & enjoyed everyday! Weather was nice, lake was calm, & the amenities at the cottage were very useful. We enjoyed sitting by the lake, playing corn hole, seeing wild life inside the lake (turtles & fish were seen swimming), & a fire at night! We most definitely recommend & will stay here again! Thx for the memories!!

Our family enjoyed staying at this cozy,comfortable, and clean cottage on Little Otter Lake. We were a group ranging in ages from 20-84. Everyone appreciated the peaceful atmosphere of the lake and the view was lovely. The upper level deck and large windows allowed us to watch swans swimming by, boats cruising and beautiful clouds and sunsets. We swam, fished and kayaked to Snow Lake via the channels.. Everything we needed for a relaxing vacation was provided and we highly recommend this vrbo location. The owners are kind, considerate and quick to respond to questions.

Visiting family for Christmas, we enjoyed a cozy, relaxing stay. Close to Pokagon, shopping, Satek Winery, good food, and the highway. The owners had great hospitality and were very warm and welcoming. Loved sitting comfy wrapped in a blanket and slippers looking out the window at the lake drinking our morning coffee. Definitely a retreat for us.

We loved our stay here. Everything is cute and clean. It is nice being able to walk right out to the lake and the bonfire pit. Wood and roasting utensils are provided, which is very nice. My favorite part is sitting on the upper deck outside the bedroom in the morning while the kids are still sleeping. The lake is so calm and peaceful. Then, when the sun is shining it is great to kayak and swim in the lake. The weed trimmer keeps the water looking beautiful and scenic. There are also a lot of movies and games for inside activities. We definitely want to return.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage! David & Tammy greeted us, showed us around and left us with some wine and chocolates - very welcoming. The cottage is clean, comfortable and cozy, especially for a couple looking for some peace and quiet. The things we liked most were the many turtles swimming within sight; the fire pit right on the water; the free wood; the new swim raft; the clean water; and the canoeing (we brought our own). The upper deck is nice for morning coffee; and the views from all points are lovely. Little Otter Retreat is just that - a wonderful retreat and a little piece of heaven! So obviously, we would highly recommend it for peaceful vacation. Thanks David & Tammy!

Great place and people at Little Otter Retreat

My husband and our two teen kids had a wonderful vacation filled with great memories thanks to Dave and Tammy sharing their Little Otter lake home with us. We enjoyed being right on the water and looking out the windows while eating. It was also a great place to sit back with some coffee and a book to unwind and relax. The fire pit by the lake with all the colorful, fun outdoor chairs to sit in was a hit. We also enjoyed playing croquet and corn hole, and are very thankful they shared those with us. Another great feature that we appreciated was being able to store the tubes and rafts in the garage in the evening and having our boat right out front. That was nice so we didn't have to worry about the water toys blowing away. The cottage was clean and inviting. We'd love to come back and were sad to leave. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a nice lake vacation. Dave and Tammy are great people to work with.

Perfect week!!

Perfect week!!

My 4 children and I had a WONDERFUL week at the Little Otter Retreat! It is a perfect lake house for a family vacation. Dave and Tammy are wonderful to work with as well. The home is very clean and well stocked with anything you would need. Before we even left my children asked if we could come back next year! Hoping to be a yearly vacation to create many fonds family memories!
