About this cottage rental
Retreat to a rare Lake Junaluska find, boasting an unobstructed, expansive Lake and Mountain View. With a location just off of North Lakeside Drive, this is the perfect spot for a retreat, a long weekend, or an extended vacation in the Blue Ridge Mountains. You have easy access to all of the Junaluska amenities, and an unbeatable view from the oversized windows. This relaxing mountain home overlooks the Lake, the Rose Walk, and historic Stuart Spring.
Come enjoy all that the mountains of Western North Carolina have to offer in this conveniently located lakeside gem. The home has solid wood craftsmanship throughout, with vaulted and beamed ceilings, and a wood burning fire place. The open floor plan allows for hours of quality time with friends and family, while enjoying the stunning lake view.
This well maintained historic (1953) home is clean and well stocked with the items that we find essential when we travel. The Kitchen is equipped with modern appliances for your use. Several original and antique furniture pieces remain in the home, along with updated beds, three flat screen TVs, and WiFi access.
The home has 3 bedrooms on the main level. Two of which are accessible just off of the living room, and flank the upstairs full bath. The Master bedroom has an amazing lake view, and a half-bath.
At the bottom of the stairs, you will find a converted garage space which leads to the downstairs/basement bedroom. This bedroom has the most privacy and a full bath; although it is located below grade.
NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW:
Our home is steps away from the community pool (seasonal/fee), boat rentals (seasonal/fee), lake access, putt-putt golf, tennis courts, and playground. We have putt-putt supplies for your use, so play as much as you want, when you want. Two adult bicycles are also available with the property.
Take the short walk to Corneille Bryan Native Garden, or enjoy access to the 5-miles of community maintained walking trails that surround the lake. The Golf Course is a quick drive across the street from the main Junaluska community entrance.
We are located 30 minutes from Asheville and Historic Dillsboro; and 35 minutes from the Asheville Airport. Waynesville and Maggie Valley, as well as the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance at Balsam Gap, are less than 10 minutes away. From the Parkway, drive along the scenic 26 mile route to the Cherokee Reservation. You can be at the Cataloochee Ski Area in 20 minutes (Cataloochee snow tubing is only 10 minutes from the house). Ingles Grocery Store and Walmart Supercenter are easily accessible within 10 minutes.

This was the third time our family stayed here. It is the perfect location for those wanting to enjoy all that Lake Junaluska has to offer. It is so close to the tennis courts, playground, and pool. We love the views of the lake from the dining and living rooms! It’s just as pictured and meets the needs of our family perfectly. We have loved making family memories in this house.

Overall - excellent! Loved the view and the location. Slight hazard at the top of the stairs at the kitchen - easy to not realize there are steps there and potentially step off unintentionally. Otherwise - great place to rent! Thank you!

This property was absolutely perfect for us. We loved the rustic interior. It had plenty of room for the six of us. The view out the large windows was outstanding. The property was well stocked with everything we needed. The owners were very communicative. I am already looking at the calendar to figure out when we can come back.

Second Time Staying Here!
Can’t emphasize enough how great the location of this cottage is, especially if you have children that want to use the amenities. This is the second time my family has stayed here and both times were a pleasure! We fit 11 people comfortably. This location has everything you need for a great stay.

The hosts went above and beyond to make us feel at home and make the renting process accessible and smooth. Would recommend to anyone looking for amazing location (walk to put put & playground with kids, kayak rentals, walking trail, two on-site adult bikes, nature trail in the neighborhood, 5 min driving to Publix / restaurants... I could keep going). Will stay again. Zero red flags or complaints. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

This rental was just what the doctor ordered. Fantastic views and location. We had the best of both worlds. It was sunny and pleasant one day and beautiful snow the next. We cooked, fished, rode bikes around the lake, drove to Cherokee which was a short distance away and just relaxed. We had everything we needed except more time here. All the bedrooms are very comfortable. It got really cold the night it snowed and we had plenty of good heat and extra blankets. The huge windows in the living room and master bdroom were such a delightful plus! We enjoyed awesome sunrises right from bed. I also loved the downstairs area as there are plenty of games to play and extra space. My feisty chihuahuas enjoyed meeting fellow canines strolling by. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful home. We'll be back!

We spent a month at this delightful rustic home with large open windows showcasing the lake and just a few steps to the Rose Garden. The amenities are first class and plentiful; Enjoyed cooking with the Cuisinart cookware and having lunch and dinner on the front walk listening to the geese and cicada. while moon watching. Couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you Leah and Brian for your gracious hospitiality.

Enjoy family fun in the perfect location here!!
This home was a prefect fit for us! We had multiple generations of our family meet at Lake Junaluska for a week (like we used to when we were kids). We had 3 families stay here, and it was perfect because the bedrooms are kind of divided into 3 sections. The huge master bedroom right off the kitchen and dining room was great for one little family. The biggest family split the other two upstairs bedrooms which you access in a little hallway behind the living room. My crew was down in the basement bedroom. This setup worked perfectly for us because we were able to enjoy being together in the spacious kitchen/living/dining area, but we also could have some quiet if we needed it. The little playroom in the basement was a great surprise for our kids. They also loved walking the path behind the house to the side yard. They called it the “secret passage” because of the beautiful ivy that is there. We spent a lot of time in the side yard watching over all the activity of the lake. The huge windows in the living and dining room also give you a gorgeous view of the lake. This house is also about as close as you can get to the playground, pool, putt putt, tennis, canoe rental, etc. It is on a loop/one way street which was nice and safe for the kids. Our kids had the best time together this week, and my generation of cousins got to see why our parents/grandparents made our trips to Lake Junaluska as frequent as possible. Enjoy some good old fashioned family fun in this super clean, well stocked, and well kept house. You won’t regret it! We will most definitely rent this house again, but we will have to beat out my cousins for it. They were super jealous of our find!

Our family had a fantastic visit to The Gingko Cottage. We were very impressed with the cleanliness, furnishings, comfort, and location of the house. Leah and Brian have taken great care to provide lots of extra touches like coffee, toiletries, and chocolate treats. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were very clean. The kitchen is well-appointed with all the necessities. The home is surrounded by beauty on all sides and we loved relaxing and unwinding each day to the sounds of nature and the peacefulness of the lake view. It's is in a perfect location for just hanging out at Lake Junaluska and nearby downtown Waynesville or for a base spot for venturing farther afield. We enjoyed trips to nearby Maggie Valley and Cherokee to see Soco Falls, Pisgah National Forest for a few short hikes, and Asheville for shopping and dining. A few local spots that our family really liked were The Buttered Biscuit, Frog Level Brewing, Waynesville Pizza, and Lakeside Bistro. And, of course, morning walks around the lake each day were not to be missed! We loved our trip to Lake Junaluska and our teens are already asking to go back soon!
