My husband and I, along with our 3 young adult/teenage children thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brookside Chalet. Our family makes the trip to Timberline Mtn every year to ski/snowboard and this was the perfect house for us. The home is well appointed with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms - two of which have been completely renovated with nice finishes. The open floorplan of the kitchen/dining/living room are had a great flow and we did not feel cramped. The updated kitchen has new appliances and tons of counterspace. The kitchen is well-stocked with items for cooking and plenty of dishes for a crowd. Dining area had plenty of seating for us for meals and card games. We also appreciated the home being pet friendly as it was nice to bring our dog along with us. We enjoyed 3 days of skiing at Timberline Mtn - and with it being just around the corner, we could come back to the house for some downtime and quickly head back for more mountain fun. The house had plenty of beds - some more comfortable than others - and the rooms were spacious and each had a TV. The hot tub was a favorite after a long day of skiing and snowboarding. The Wi-Fi was strong enough for us to work a bit. We also enjoyed seeing many deer in the backyard from time to time. Daniel was a wonderful host and was quick to respond to any questions. We will definitely be back!

Location is close to slopes. House is clean with all the amenities you need for an enjoyable ski trip. Hot tub was a nice touch after a long day on the mountain. Manager of property was great to work with. Will rent again.

This house was absolutely perfect. Super cute and extremely convenient to the slopes. The conditions were amazing. I think we got 24 inches during our stay. House is absolutely adorable. Kitchen is well stocked. Bathrooms are great beds were comfy. Family room was extremely comfortable for hanging out after a day of skiing.

This was our 2nd year staying at this FABULOUS place!! The place has new bathrooms and updated kitchen and flooring. It’s the PERFECT place if you’re skiing Timberline or surrounding ski areas. The hot tub on the back deck is the finishing touch to a long day on the slopes.
Can’t wait for next year!!!

Took are kids for a mid week ski trip. Property was close to ski slopes which made it so convenient to go back for lunch or take a rest after skiing all day. Property is outdated but clean, roomy and for the price we would absolutely rent again. We had a great time no complaints. Property manager stayed in touch, WiFi worked just fine for us, jacuzzi was clean. Hope to make it back next year!

The cabin was clean, warm, and the perfect location to walk over to Timberline Resort to ski. We enjoyed the hot tub which looks out to the backyard with a beautiful stream. Kitchen was well stocked. Check-in was a breeze. I would stay again!

I booked this rental as a Christmas present for my husband who skis. (I don't ski.)
The close proximity to Timberline and lot make this a 5 star property. There is plenty of parking. There is a creek you can see from the rear of the property, which is all wooded and feels very private. The neighborhood is well kept with many nice homes.
The interior space feels large with room to spread out. However, the interior needs a complete makeover. There is carpeting practically everywhere (including on the main level beds and in the upstairs bathroom), which should be removed and some broken furniture.
Communication with the property owner was good and the hot tub is a very nice feature. The baseboard heat worked great.
My husband would definitely stay at this property again, but I need something cleaner and updated.

I booked this property for a long weekend ski trip with my son. We stayed 3 nights and had an absolute blast.
The pros:
Super easy access to Timberline Ski Resort and Canaan Valley Ski Resort. The house was quite large with plenty of space. It was clean and cozy, even though the fireplace was off limits due to a recent issue that hadn’t been repaired. ( I was told this by the owner). The outside Jacuzzi was SWEET and so relaxing after a long day on the slopes.
TV’s in all bedrooms, gaming console in main living room and plenty of bathrooms. Washer and dryer worked accordingly. Coffee pot, microwave, fridge and stove all worked accordingly.
Cons:
Living room furniture was outdated and needs replaced soon. Fireplace was off limits as I mentioned. 1974 blender was there for usage but I didn’t even attempt it.
Pots, pans, silverware and knives need updated.
My son had a BLAST and loved the place. I had fun and it’s was relaxing and super quiet.
I give this place an overall B+. Get some new furniture and carpet and update the cookware and utensils, fix the fireplace and this place is MONEY!!!
We WILL be back!!

Everything was really great! A little outdated but nothing you can't deal with. We weren't able to use the fireplace because of a crack, great communication from the property owners though. The hot tub wasn't working at first, but after flipping some breakers we got it running. Lots of dishes were dirty and the hot tube was dirty. But nothing we couldn't have fixed.

This home desperately needs TLC. The address and lot number are different so that was a bit confusing trying to find it. The location is wonderful for skiing, but that is the only plus. Our trip was over the Christmas holiday with frigid temperatures. The fireplace was not working and this was not disclosed in advance. The home is extremely dusty. The mattresses and broken sofa need to be replaced since they are very old and uncomfortable. The main bathroom is bizarre with a dehumidifier attached to the wall and sink. The dishwasher leaks and the BBQ does not work. The area around the jacuzzi was littered with trash and beer cans. Sad to say, there just is not much pride of ownership.

Great accommodation, better internet signal boost. We hardly had internet service.

Great location and fun loft space for kids. Hot tub was working well and in pleasant earshot of a mountain brooke. Note the fireplace is a little smoky.

Everything was as advertised and we had a relaxing weekend. Only thing was we couldn't follow the checkout procedures with the trash because we couldn't access the garage as instructed.

Stayed during our summer vacation. Sadly the property needs some tlc. There are water stains in many places, the carpet is very worn. It is also very dark interior with little lighting. ( bulbs burned out)
We did like the size. The fireplace is beautiful and would be very inviting in winter. The towels were nice. Due to rain, we didn't get to use the outside space but it was beautiful. However, we couldn't get the grill to light. We also felt it weird that garage door stood open at all times.

Mouse droppings in utensils, dish clothes, spiders, broken door screen, no ac, over grown grass, not real clean, very hard to find, not correct or now shown house number, and the list goes on. Area itself was nice.

Had a great time. The only thing was no wi fi and my son had study to do.
Great time. Great skiing at Timerline. It was nice to see them fixing up the ski resort.

No WIFI
The property itself is great. The service is slim to none which is why we made sure to rent a cabin with WIFI. Of course it did not work all weekend even after contacting the owner multiple times. The garage was also full of 10-15 bags of trash with boxes and other trash and smelled awful. They expect you to do the laundry for them and clean the entire cabin for them which we did not mind, but for over $200 a day they could clean up the very little mess we left. Overall a beautiful area and close to all the sights.

Great time at the Brookside Chalet!
We were pleasantly surprised by the rusticity and comfort of the Brookside Chalet! It was exactly what we expected and wanted for a reasonably-priced holiday weekend getaway. It feels like you're "out in the woods" even though it's situated at the base of a ski resort mountain neighborhood with lots of other dwellings nearby. The large, clean hot tub and extra-wide back porch were some definite highlights. Sure, the cabin's interior decor was kinda dusty and dated, and could use some wall paneling upgrades, but that just added to its charm for myself and my family. And, it was very dog-friendly for a couple of older, low-key pooches with lots of plush carpeting everywhere, complete with a large back yard for dog walks. An easy suggestion to brighten up the dimness of the evening/nighttime interior of the chalet would be to replace the light fixtures' bulbs with brighter (say, LED) bulbs, but that's nit-picking (I always travel with plenty of illumination tools). We wouldn't hesitate to return to this property; really enjoyed our stay! We weren't going for luxurious accommodations, just comfort, and it more than met our needs. Thanks for having us!

Very nice house. Everything worked well and was clean. The location is wonderful and the brook in the back made a wonderful sound with your morning coffee and reading. We saw deer in the field and other wild life. Great place to stay. The only thing I recommend is to add AC and heating system for the house, because the upstairs loft gets warm during the day and stays warm most of the night.

So nice perfect home

Shabby, seventies ski shack
Poorly maintained: non-functioning receptacle in master bath, loud dehumidifier in other bath, with no air conditioning all windows need to be operational, poorly operating sliding doors, exterior rot on trim and siding and filthy, aged carpet. Not a single, comfortable chair in the place. I expected a lot more for my money than I got.

Nice and relaxing!
We received all the information to enter through messaging. The WiFi worked wonderfully but we were only able to get satellite in one bedroom. The hot tub was phenomenal and was enjoyed by all. The kitchen was well equipped except for measuring cups and grilling tools. Was disappointed that we pulled out dishes that were dirty, but we just made sure to wash everything before using. All in all a very good experience.

Overall a good place but needs updating
Our stay at Brookside Chalet was very good. We had sufficient beds, linens, cookware, etc. and There were enough beds to go around. The stream behind the house was really nice for the kids to play and splash in. The hot tub was great. Inside was clean but the outdoor space could use a bit of attention. We found broken glass on the porch. The wrap around benches are bowed and need replaced. The grill was virtually unusable due to the dirty and rusty grill plates. We didn’t use it at all. Also, it gets very, very hot in the loft. Overall, it worked for what we needed.

Comfy home, no guarantees
Home was comfy for the Fall and Winter stay, no A/C probably not a great place for Summer. Very low water pressure and Jacuzzi didn’t work so if depending on that for R&R good chance that’s not going to happen, Company looking after property could care less about your stay however after contacting owner he did his very best to get things fixed.

We enjoyed our stay. Very quite and peaceful. The house numbering system was confusing and not well explained well. It might make it easier if it were explained better.

Weekend Getaway
We really liked the location and the layout of the house - it was easy to get to and worked really well for the 4 of us. I'ts in a pretty setting with a brook in the yard. The instructions were very clear for the hot tub, fireplace and other features. The water pressure was really low - especially when you were using multiple faucets/running the dishwasher. The loft can get warm during the day because of the light from the skylights, but by the evening, it cooled down and there were standing fans at the house that we used. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals.

Needs some TLC
This house has a lot of potential, however it was a little rundown and very musty smelling. Took a couple days to air out which helped a little and had to purchase some candles and air fresheners. Some things around that needed fixing and the old carpet everywhere was a little much, even on the bed frames and bathroom floors. But, you can’t beat the scenery anywhere in Canaan Valley! The creek in the backyard was a plus.

Great Home and really is walkable to the ski slopes
We had a lovely stay at Brookside. I've parked farther away than this home is from the slopes. Timberline is a bit old school but it was NOT crowded, even on Saturday. I highly recommend the ski-school program they were great.
Home was large, comfortable and with a well stocked kitchen. Fireplace was great. We look forward to staying again.

Great time hiking Dolly Sods!
We used Brookside Chalet as our base for 4 days of hiking in the Dolly Sods. The house was well furnished and comfortable, the location was perfect - only a 20 minute car ride to the Western trail heads. We would have a leisurely start, drive 20 minutes, hike for 5-6 hours, then come back and regroup. A soak in the hot tub before cooking dinner was the start of a relaxing evening.

The inside has a very musty smell.
The house was clean with a well equipped kitchen. During the winter months when there is heat inside the house, the house probably doesn't have the musty odor. The smell was very strong the first night. We bought candles to burn and left doors and windows on, which helped. The walls at the floor actually had water stains. The house would probably benefit from a dehumidifier.
