You can't beat the location at the Redwood Retreat! Less than 3 minutes to Sunset Marina, this gorgeous lakehouse is located above the Obey River Campground, which is adjacent to Sunset Marina. Close to restaurants, grocery store, and gas stations. Did I mention the views? Views galore from every level in the house. With almost 4,000 sq. feet that can accommodate up to 13 people comfortably, it has plenty of places to gather after a day at the lake, but also having privacy in your own living areas. There is also 1,700 sq. feet of decking areas to enjoy the view.
Upon entering the home you will see the gorgeous views through our expansive windows, soaring 25 foot ceiling, as well as a 20 ft. stacked stone fireplace for those chilly summer nights. The great room has plenty of seating, with an open floor plan with a fabulous fully-equipped kitchen seating 12. Watch a movie or cook a great dinner. The master bedroom is on the main floor with a master bath and television. The laundry is also on the main level. All linens and towels, as well as paper goods are included. This home is equipped with WiFi and Directv. Did I mention that we also have a screened-in porch area off the kitchen that comes with an outdoor fireplace and outdoor t.v. ? This is a great place to play a game of cards, board game or just relax and check out the views. If you have some in your group that doesn't like stairs, this level is for them.
Our loft area is a great place to sit and read a book or check out the fabulous views. This top level has two large bedrooms, with the largest bedroom complete with a t.v. and gaming system. This level has a full bath.
The lower level has 9 1/2 ft. ceilings and is its own living area complete with two bedrooms, bathroom and a great recreational area. The main area has comfortable seating to check out a movie including a dvd player and lots of dvds, as well as a pool table. The best thing about the lower level is that it has its own full kitchen, complete with a fridge, stove, dishwasher and microwave. Plenty of places to gather but separation at the same time. The lower level has great views of the lake and has its own deck areas as well, which come with seating and a hot tub!
Not only is the house wonderful, but so is the courtyard. Complete with a great firepit! It has plenty of seating, chairs, and even a table for outdoor dining. The gas grill is great for bbqs and some corn hole after a day at the lake. This area has amazing views.
We have a 1 car attached garage that has a ping pong table. Parking is not allowed in the garage. We have two concrete driveways for plenty of parking. Please keep in mind that the house is situated next to a steep, gravel road. Vehicles travel the road all the time, but boat owners must park their boats and trailers at the marina or rent a temporary slip at the marina. You can now book boat slips in advance by phone at Sunset Marina.
*Please note that our 2 outdoor umbrellas are put in storage beginning Nov. 1st and are not put back out until Memorial Weekend.
****We are on "6 day" rentals during June, July, and most of August. Check-in on Saturday with check-out the following Friday.

After a number of years seeing this house posted, we finally were able to reserve a week at the Red Retreat! It was worth the wait! Location to Sunset, everything about the house (view, size, comfort, amenities, etc), communication with the owner, was spectacular!! Highly recommend and hoping to become a regular guest!

This is the fourth time we have stayed on this property and every time has been FABULOUS! There’s plenty of space for everyone, beautiful porches and patio, love having two kitchens! We feel like it is our home away from home and can’t wait to come back next year!

This was our second stay at Redwood Retreat. The first time was during the Christmas holiday which was wonderful, but this trip we were able to take full advantage of the outdoor space and lake. The home is absolutely wonderful. It is beautiful, always decorated for the season, very clean, and extremely well stocked. Julia is a pleasure to work with and is always readily available. This trip we enjoyed most days at the Obey beach area and on the lake. Sunset Marina was great for renting boats. We also took a quick hike at the Bumcombe cave and toured the little museum there. The Lakeside ice cream place was delicious and fun. We will definitely be back!!

Julia was a super hostess! From the beginning her communication was outstanding and very welcoming! Their home is stunning, views are perfect, location is quiet and close to a lot of activities, restaurants and groceries. Our family opted to boat and stay in because, we loved the house so much! We docked our boat at Sunset Marina for the week, which was just a convenient 3 mile drive! Our family vacation included 6 adults and two children under 5. There was plenty of space for all of us to gather together and space for alone time as well. The balconies, patios and screened-in porch were all perfect options for relaxing and spend quality time together as a family. We can’t wait to go back! Thank you Julia for being so thoughtful and obviously for caring and thinking about everything a family would need to enjoy time together. You are a delight.

This house is amazing and the Julia couldn't be any nicer or more helpful. The house didn't lack anything, from whatever you might need in the kitchen, to having a lot of towels, and paper products. Our family ages were 3 to 88, and we all were able to find things to do together or separately. The view from the deck to see the Aurora Borealis was awesome. There is so much to see and do there from boating, hiking, and so on. We would love to stay here again.

This was our first time staying at this cabin and now I know why all the reviews are 5 star. There is so much space with quality furniture and decor, both inside and out. The view is amazing, the owner is awesome, and you won’t find a cleaner rental. This was our all girls family trip with 3 generations from KY, TN, and MS and everyone was so impressed. We will definitely be back!!

This home is the perfect getaway to celebrate any of life’s milestones. The listing accurately describes what to expect. It is beautifully decorated and has options for seating on every level both inside or outside. The kitchen was well stocked with all the things needed for any type of meal. There are plenty of things to do right at the house from spending time outdoors, playing pool or ping pong, sitting by your choice of fireplaces, enjoying the hot tub, playing games, watching a movie and enjoying your time away. The house was immaculately clean and we didn’t have any concerns. Our host went above and beyond to communicate with us. We are already planning to make this a yearly getaway!

This house is beautiful, updated, and the cleanest VRBO we've ever stayed in. Anything we needed (and then some) was there, property description was completely accurate. Check in process and communication with Julia was flawless and she was so helpful and very communicative with every step, including being on the phone with us when we made a wrong turn. This spacious home has it all! We enjoyed all of the amenities, and the incredible deck areas. The kids are all begging to go back because they had so much fun. The host was easy to reach when we needed something, and we had everything we needed for our stay. Definitely will return one day!

We took our Friendsgiving on the road and this house was everything we could have hoped for and more! Julia, went above and beyond with the communication and all the accommodations in the house, the extras made it so much easier for our trip. We would recommend this house to everyone. Would love to see it again in the summer and in the fall with the amazing leaf colors!

Our fourth consecutive October trip to the Redwood Retreat! This place has quickly become a second home to us. As soon as we walk in the door, we feel right at home. We had a wonderful time at the house! It was very spacious, new, and everything was top notch! We even booked for next year while we were there. Easy access to Sunset marina. Only caveat: Pay attention to her directions to the house, if you go another way, the hills are very steep and it's a rock road, so it can be tricky!

Julia was a wonderful host who offered timely communication. The property was well stocked with dishes, pans, etc. Great supply of towels, trash bags etc. Beautiful property. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch. Fun trip for two families with four adults and five kids. The marina was right around the corner. We rented boats four days. The kids had a ball.

Julia, the homeowner, cares about the renter’s experience. She provides helpful information on the area, maintains a well stocked home and responds quickly to emails or texts. The lower level of the home provides a great space for the kids to hang out with a pool table, ping pong, games, Tv and a second kitchen. Bedrooms and bathrooms on all 3 levels. Several great outdoor spaces including a screened in porch and a large patio space with furniture, tables, grill and fire pit. You won’t regret staying here!

I cannot say enough good things about this property and the manager! The accommodations, inside and out, are well crafted, stocked, decorated, and absolutely beautiful! The manager answered all of our questions quickly and was a pleasure to work with. The view from the balcony is amazing. All I can say is that it's as good, or better than what you see in the photos. Our group of 4 adults and 9 children had a wonderful time at Julia's place on Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee. The house had the necessary tools that we needed in the kitchen (crockpot, pots and pans, utensils, etc) so that we could come in with our groceries and stay our entire tjme without having to leave.
The location is residential but the way the neighborhood is spaced out, and the location of the property, along with the trees surrounding the property, you feel completely isolated and private. We did struggle a few times getting up the hill to leave the property, however we do not have 4 wheel drive, and it was remedied by reversing and getting more of a start before hitting the steepest part of the hill. This would be completely remedied if/when the road becomes paved and we point no fault to the owner for this; the house itself was more than worth the extra efforts.
We spent our time at the house where the hot tub was used multiple times a day and the many lounging areas were utilized. We had brought out own board games but we're surprised to find that Julia had a huge selection available to us along with a pool table, bean bag boards and ping pong table. When we weren't enjoying our coffee by the outdoor fireplace on the screened in porch, we were walking the road around the property. The scenery was breathtaking as we descended down to Sunset Marina.
Communication with Julia was outstanding. We felt completely prepared before arriving and had all of our questions answered. Upon arrival, we let the host know we had arrived but then only heard from her if/when we reached out to her. She is an excellent communicator and very quick to answer questions or reply by text.
We made some amazing memories on Dale Hollow Estates Road and should we travel back to this area again, we will be reaching out to Julia to rent this beautiful, clean, well maintained home from her again.
