About this house rental
Turquoise water wraps around white sand at this private paradise that is a gift that keeps giving to all who experience it. Situated on Queensland's exclusive East Bedarra Island, this private paradise and its surrounds has been featured in International magazines Wallpaper and Vogue Living.
A romantic nook off the Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, this signature property is positioned on the water's edge of a private two-acre estate. Doorila Cove has long been favoured by prominent artists, photographers, and writers inspired by the beautiful beach on the island.
A functional interior designed by renowned architect Robert Davidov is a marvel of playful modernism. The open plan lounge and dining area expands outwards to a large deck, all of which enjoy a stunning view of ocean and distant islands. The backdrop competes for your affection with a striking gin and cognac bottle feature wall, stone fireplace, bamboo panelling, and a collection of original bamboo furniture items handmade by prominent 20th century Australian artist Noel Wood.
The villa features two large bedrooms, comfortably sleeping up to six guests between superior quality sheets. Connected via decking to a lower level, there is a separate King bedroom with an en-suite. An adjoined studio sleeps an additional two guests, while lovingly maintaining its almost century-old features. Additionally, an outdoor shower and toilet ensures that sand doesn't follow you home.
With no public access and only a small number of private homes on the island, guests can unwind without any day-trippers or camera-happy tourists. A place of seclusion, but not isolation, our caretakers await your arrival by boat and look after your every whim in this self-catered paradise.
What the Owners love
Wander barefoot to swim in the warm, clear waters of the Coral Sea where you will find hundreds of species of tropic fish native to the reef. The property is complete with kayaks, snorkelling gear, and fishing rods and reels to be used at your leisure throughout your stay.
What We love
The island has a strong ethos of sustainability, and Noel Wood's vision for the property has been born out by seamless integration of natural elements into its design. Set among 45 hectares of rainforest, this property is an express trip back to nature without skimping on any of life's luxuries.
What the Romantic loves
A honeymooners haven, this is the perfect place to celebrate new love or affirm lasting romance. Think long walks on the beach, where there are only two sets of footprints, lazy afternoons on the sunny daybeds, before wandering for dinner in the evening with fellow like-minded guests on the island.
Please note the 2x King bedrooms are located in the Villa with 1 bathroom and the separate pavilion has the king bedroom with en-suite and a queen sized day bed.
