Isn't it wonderful to see the Lions rock straight from your balcony where you have freshly prepared very tasty breakfast. Add elephants, mongooses and monkeys and you couldn't imagine better place to stay. Not even mention an amazing service from your host Ashoka, who goes out of his way to accommodate your needs in any way possible.
The room is specious and spotlessly clean. Dinner (prepared by Ashoka's daughter) were delicious. We had dinner there twice and each time we had something different.
Would definitely recommend!
We loved the place and enjoyed the hospitality of our host Ashoka and meal prepared by his daughter so much, that we changed our itinerary and came back for extra night at the end of our trip.

Everything is very clean. We booked for one night but we decided to stay longer. Thank you so much for a wonderful time!

This homestay was one of our very best experiences in Sri Lanka. It is situated in a street with quite some other homestays, bars and restaurants. In total a really relaxed and vibrant area. The accommodation was great. You have a nice room overlooking a carefully maintained garden. The room has all you need and is sufficiently spacious. At the terrace you can enjoy home-cooked food from the mother of the house, with the father and the son taking care of the guests. Through our dinner I got introduced to the beautiful world of Sri Lanka’s curd, a very creamy Greek-style sort of yoghurt served with treacle. The breakfast was also extremely good with all the fruits, fruit juice and home made pancakes and roti. In the morning, at 5am, they even brought us to the foot of the Sigiriya Rock, one of the main local attractions when the tuktuk driver pulled a no show. Comes highly recommended!!!

Deserves it's great reviews online. Wonderful family run accommodation that was excellent value for the money. Very close to Sigiriya rock fortress, so easy to be there for sunrise opening, and return to property for shower and breakfast before heading to my next destination. Breakfast was so delicious I wish I'd had dinner there. Friendly owner. Would stay again and highly recommend.

1.the host is very kind and honest. The transportation he offered is with good price and good service. Recommend that you book the car and tuktuk with him and it is cheaper than the transport on the street.
2.the location is good for everywhere.
3.the breakfast is so generous and delicious that it can keep you full all day.
4.the room rate is affordable to solo traveller and the room has everything you need.(tea, hotpot, fridge,AC ...)
1.the neighbor's dogs are not quite friendly.
2.the room has some musty smell probably caused by continuous rain..
3.the host sometimes is too attentive that make guest feel lack of privacy, but his offers about the transportation and food are with fair price. No cheating.

This was definitely the best stay we had in Sri Lanka. Owner takes care of everything for you, his wife and daughter and the best cooks! they prepare every day different breakfast and different dinner. Next time we visit, we need to stay longer. the rooms has everything you need, like a hotel. when you sit on the terrace you can see monkey in the trees. the owner is always there to
make sure, they we enjoy them from fat and they don’t get too close :) amazing, amazing, amazing!!!!

New and very clean facilities, everything was very comfortable. Host goes out of his way to help you and gives great recommendations for excursions, drivers, etc. He even personally drove us to Sigiriya Rock for free at 5 am in the morning. Breakfast was also amazing and something to look forward to every morning (including good coffee, which is not the case everywhere). Thank you Ashoka!

The room was very clean and comfortable, far more than I expected. I couldn’t believe that I could stay this room with this reasonable price.
The owner was super kind and helped me quite a lot to do all what I wanted to do within the short time. The food was delicious and enjoyed peaceful time there. Definitely I would like to revisit it.

My recent stay at The Cattleya Guesthouse was truly memorable. The guesthouse is nestled in a beautiful location and is run by a kind and welcoming owner who made me feel right at home. The rooms are clean and spacious.
One of the highlights of my stay was the delicious homemade food that was served. The owner is an excellent cook and every meal (breakfast and we also ordered dinner) was great. I particularly enjoyed the traditional Sri Lankan dishes that were prepared with fresh and local ingredients.
Overall, I would highly recommend The Cattleya Guesthouse to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Sri Lanka.

Such a peaceful and pleasant place, with nice terrace to sit on and enjoy the birds, monkeys, and even sometimes elephants (at night only). Host and his family were so attentive and kind, and will arrange any activity for you. Food was very good and room was new new and very comfortable (4 pillows!) with good AC, fan, kettle and refrigerator, and refreshing rain shower. We liked walking in area from guest house in rural landscapes to nearby lake and town.
We stayed 4 nights and would have appreciated some shelves and hanging space to put clothes, as well as shear curtains in addition to dark curtains so you could enjoy light with a bit more privacy in daytime.

It is just a two room place. I think a little over priced.

The owner is super nice and the accommodation with 2 rooms small but nice. Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. I had additionally asked for a local dinner and it was freshly prepared for me and tasted extremely good - with dessert even :)

the hotel owner was beyond nice and helpful! he offered us delicious meals and beverages, helped in planning our trip and even was careful enough to bring us home from our lonely walk that may have ended with an elephant attack!
the hotel has only two guest rooms which makes it unique and very private! you can literally sit hours on a porch, enjoying the silence and the birds singing!
thank you very much for everything, keep going with this marvelous, calm place! lots of love!

Distance to sigirya and the effort of the stuff
The host is nice but to demanding. We would have loved not to be asked for dinner several times. We explained that we want privacy but this wasn't understood. Besides that they are very friendly. Also the room description is wrong, there is no mountain view. You will have to walk 25 m to barely see it.

Everything was great! The location is perfect to visit Lion’s Rock. You can see it from the bottom of the garden and the host gave us a free lift up to the entrance which was lovely. There’s also a few places to eat nearby if you walk along the road towards the town. One restaurant we particularly liked right next to the lake with the view of the rock and if you’re lucky a wild elephant. The room is perfect, nice big bed with mosquito net round, just like the pictures. Tea, coffee and kettle in the room. Good size bathroom with toiletries and a hairdryer. There was another small guest, a frog on the toilet seat which the host kindly got away for us, he came back though and lived behind the toilet haha. The outside seating area was nice, we had breakfast and dinner there. The breakfast was delicious with coconut pancakes, roti, hoppers, fruit and juice. The dinner was also very tasty, we had a mix of vegetable curries and rice. I thought the bugs would be bad sitting outside in the evening but there was a plug in which definitely helped because we weren’t bothered by them at all. The host also drove us to Pidirangala rock and Dumbulla for a small fee, even during these incredibly hard times with petrol etc for them.
Nothing.

The breakfast was outside our room, at the time that we requested. We wanted to go to sygiria before getting the train to Trinco. The kind owner prepared breakfast for us when we got back from Sygiria and took us to the station. Helping us to book our tickets. Really welcoming
