About this bed and breakfast
Enjoy authentic Montana hospitality at the Cabin in the City. Steps from the university, you'll live like a local. The property comes with off-street parking spaces (a rarity this close to campus) and a warm atmosphere nestled in the University District, a leafy neighborhood of century-old bungalows, and views of the nearby mountains and river.
Completely renovated, the cabin features a full kitchen, living room, and bedroom. There is a queen-sized bed in the bedroom as well as a couch in the living room. This is a cozy property reminiscent of a small cabin in the woods, and the cedar paneling and warm atmosphere reflect that. Heat is provided by an electronic, automated gas stove, conveniently keeping the cabin toasty warm while imparting the ambiance of an old-fashioned wood stove. Air conditioning is also provided in the summer.
Guests can enjoy all the amenities of the university due to its location just down the street while also taking advantage of the dining, drinks, and attractions of the University District and Missoula. Just feet away is Liquid Planet Grille featuring locally-sourced breakfasts and lunches, an espresso bar, and a selection of beer, wine, and prepared meals for takeout.
The M trail is on the other side of campus and offers the quintessential local hike. Nights with nice weather bring Missoulians in droves to watch the sunsets. The Rattlesnake Wilderness trailhead is a 10 minute drive away, offering access to hundreds of miles of trails. The banks of the Clark Fork River are a few blocks north of the cabin.
House-trained dogs are welcome for a $75 fee per dog. Two dogs limit. Dog beds available. Please pick up after your dog. Poop bags provided. The apartment is located above the garage so you must be able to climb a set of stairs to access the unit.
We live in town just a few minutes away from the house if anything needs to be done during your stay. We are always available via text/phone to answer any questions that may come up. We love Missoula and would be happy to give our recommendations.
You will access the apartment through the coded front door. This means that check in can be more flexible, as you don't need to arrange a specific time for a key exchange. If you would like us to meet you at the house for check in, that can be arranged as well.

This was the perfect VRBO for our weekend stay! You could not ask for a better location in regards to the University and it was completely charming. The gas fire added to the charm of the house and we loved being able to walk to breakfast. The rental had everything that we needed and then some. We would highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back!!

We arrived at the property at around 5:30 pm and were unable to get the fireplace working, which is the only source of heat for the apartment. There were no instructions in the welcome book, and we tried everything we knew to get it working. I reached out to the host via email, as well as phone (which went directly to voice mail). We received no response until 12:30 pm. After texting back and forth the host said he would try to find someone to come out and fix it. We did not hear back until 1:30 am the next day, asking us how everything was going. No indication that they had made any effort to find a repair person.
Although the welcome book stated they were doing extra cleaning, the apartment surfaces were covered in a layer of dust, and there were cobwebs on the lamps. And the mattress was extremely uncomfortable.
I will end with a positive. It is a great location, very close to campus if that is where you want to be.

Very convenient

What a great spot so close to downtown! So nice to not have to use our car and we could walk and ride our bikes everywhere. Really nice cafe just a few steps away. Bed was comfy, the kitchen was well stocked for items for cooking and making coffee. The snacks offered were a really nice touch. Bathroom also super well stocked with soap shampoo and conditioner. Neighborhood super quiet at night to be able to sleep with the windows open. Would absolutely stay at this place again!

I needed a place in the University districy very close to campus with parking space. This quiet place on the second floor was positioned perfectly, had all the amenities needed in a kitchen, and easy parking in an area where space is at a premium. Enjoyed the stay very much, and would stay there again.

The location of the property and it’s rustic charm made this an ideal spot while visiting our daughter at U of M. Tom was an awesome host— very accommodating and responsive. Would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I loved this rental. It was the perfect amount of space for the two of us. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Plus, it was in a very central location to everything we wanted to to do. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cabin in the City. The unit is exactly as described...don't expect more space than what you see. The owners have done a great job of maximizing the space available and no amenities were lacking. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and dishes for those wishing to cook a few meals of their own. The property is very convenient for all things campus or downtown related. We were in town for a concert at the Adams Center and were able to walk to and from the venue. We highly recommend this property for an individual or couple looking for a get-a-way or game day experience in Missoula.

Great Turnkey place for parents visiting their UM students. My wife and I had everything we needed for our 3 night stay.

Could be cleaner and cheaper for what it is

Our fault... too small for 2 seniors + 2 small dogs. Our host was very friendly & helpful.
All appliances worked well. The a/c especially!
We just chose wrong. The location was excellent.
4.8
It is super close to UM. It is a tidy little cabin. Basically, all you need.
One minor nitpick: The bed and pillows were good, but not great.
Overall, highly recommend. I would stay there again.

Loved this spot! I was in town for a few days and really appreciated how this spot is nestled in a quiet neighborhood but a short walk/drive away from everything downtown. Place was super clean and cozy. Dog friendly too which was a huge plus!! The property manager was thoughtful enough to leave some snacks, which were very much appreciated. I would definitely come back if I’m ever in Missoula again!

My husband and I did a whirlwind 5 state 11 day 1742 mile road trip. This little gem was our last stop and absolutely our favorite! I could live here full time. It's adorable, well supplied and in a wonderful central location.

We really enjoyed this little apartment. It was in a quiet neighborhood with a very friendly neighbor who even gave me a vase of flowers after I commented on her garden. Two doors down is a delightful little cafe that we enjoyed a breakfast and a lunch at. We even took a nice long walk to enjoy the community and the campus of the University of Montana. We would definitely stay here again! My only negative with the experience is I would suggest room darkening shades in the bedroom as the streetlights come through and it looks like dawn all through the night.

A very nice apartment above the garage. Simple to access in the wonderful University district. Convenient location near the University and Liquid Planet. A very easy walk to the Hip Strip (Higgins), Rockin Rudy's, restaurants, and grocery store. Although it includes a parking spot, we did not have a car, so walkability was important to us. It was nice to come "home" to this cozy apartment at the end of the day.
