The Clothiers is just a 5 minute walk into Stroud and close to the railway station, Cheltenham and Gloucester are within easy reach for eating out and shopping. Great canal walks in both directions and if you're feeling fit you can get to Stroud Brewery just 45 mins or so along the canal from the town.
The canal museum, sounds quite boring but the volunteer staff there are brilliant and have a wealth of knowledge about local walks and the history of the area.
Stroud like many small towns is now looking very tired despite its claims of lots of small independent shops.

The hosts were very friendly and keen to help. The location was perfect to walk to the town for shopping and restaurants.
Breakfast was really good.

All the furnishing in the room felt new and/or well maintained. The room was very clean. Though there's a lively pub downstairs and a lot of traffic around the location, the room was fairly quiet. We really enjoyed being greeted by friendly, professional and helpful staff upon arrival, at breakfast and at departure. The breakfast also far exceeded our expectation in terms of the quality of the ingredients and how it was cooked.
The duvet was the only part of the whole experience that we actually didn't like, it felt very plasticky and not breathable. And a hint for light sleepers, it is an old building, so there is the possibility of hearing your neighbours if there are other / louder guests staying there as well.

The location to the venue i was attending was very good . The accommodation had a car park which was excellent . The bar down stairs was very busy but did not hear anything in my room which was also a bonus if you wanted a drink and something to eat . My room was very clean and tidy and lovely and comfy and a good size . The room was lovely and warm all day and night even though it was very cold outside which was Excellent . The room also had a private patio outside which would be great in the warmer weather .

Lovely building, bar, food, staff. Yearly friendly and welcoming vibe. Generally the stay was great and the best part of that was the welcoming staff.
I was in the old part of the building. The arrangements for getting in and out when the bar is closed aren't great. The other slight issue was the room which was boiling hot when the heating was on but then got very cold through the night when it was off. I alsondidnt love the lack of an extractor fan in the bathroom.

Staff were very accommodating.
B/fast, first rate.
Room, homely.
Pub, good atmosphere.
Only stayed two days.

The breakfast was delicious and the lady who was on duty that morning was lovely.
There was a smell of dog in the room but we did enjoy the small patio. It could have used some plants or flowers though.

Clean room with good facilities and nice touches like biscuits and water. Lovely staff. Very good food both evening and breakfast.
Some areas in need of tlc. Our terrace to our room very tired.

Lovely home cooked style food

Average, asked for a vegetarian but they had run out of sausages, so just egg, toast, beans & mushrooms. My wife asked for a tea, which never came.
The road noise it was a hot evening and could not open the windows. Experienced something I had never done before, if you put your bare foot down on the floor, condensation would appear around it within seconds, making the floor slippery, this was in the bedroom and not after a shower. The bed was very uncomfortable. Bar shut at 10!!

Lovely welcome but unfortunately the accommodation was just not suitable for a disabled person who struggles with steps. Perhaps a good choice for others but not for us.
Not suitable for disabled persons because of the steps involved.

Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
I did n't have time to explore location.
Staff were pleasant and caring, particularly young man who welcomed me and took me to my room, and Debs on Saturday morning.
I really didn't find any faults.

they dont tell you before hand they do not start breakfast till 8am, EVERY where else i stay breakfast starts between 6/7 am as most people and contractors have to leave well before 8am. I was promised a pack up to go in the morning, on asking for it nothing had been prepared and they could not do anything as the "chef" was not there before 8
I left my name and number to be contacted for a refund, did not expect and have not received a call. diabolical service
the lies i was told about a breakfast
