Location and style/decor of the property
V noisy location and no secondary glazing - also no milk or water in room

Really lovely interiors. The staff were lovely and really helpful!
The noise outside of the hotel when it was kicking out time. It might have been just bad luck but there were police and a meat wagon trying to sort out an altercation that wouldn’t die down. Not the hotels fault at all!

Rooms and staff excellent
The Breakfast was not up to expectation, the options were not explained to me, I had a cup of coffee then a cooked breakfast totalling £26.00 so that coffee cost me £8.95 (the cost of a continental breakfast) But a coffee is complimentary in your room.

We only had continental breakfast and eat dinner out. We liked the room, it had just what you needed except for the bathroom mirror was too high up, there could have been some shelves for shoes and clothes.
We are two people and like two chairs in the room. But this is a common practice in hotels.

This hotel has a great location - right by the station in Stroud.
Maybe some of the rooms are in a better condition, but ours was extremely shabby, stifingly hot, with a view over a fire escape and the car park, and a window that is screwed shut. The room was directly above the bar which had a TV showing the football - you could hear every word of the commentary all through the evening (and our TV wasn't working properly). No towels until we asked. The staff did their best, but this stay was shockingly poor value and far below expectations.

Location and the quality of room (ambiance, furnishings etc) was really nice
Unfortunately I was woken at 545pm by a very noisy beer barrel delivery which went on for about an hour. Ruined what was a great hotel experience otherwise
4.1
The rooms are well decorated and spacious. The location is right in the middle of Stroud and there's parking right outside.
Staff were friendly and helpful and they provided a dog bed and water bowl for our dog.
Staff were also very accommodating about us changing rooms and a partial refund.
We had to change rooms after our first night in the hotel. I paid a little extra for a suite and the actual room was lovely. Really spacious and well decorated. However, it was a fairly warm summer day and the room was very warm. In addition, the single-glazed sash windows open on to the back of the hotel above the restaurant extractor system. This meant that a very loud industrial fan noise was audible until about 1AM. We couldn't sleep due to the heat and the noise. There is no air conditioning or even fans in the rooms.
A minor additional point, but the TV in that room (25) wasn't connected to anything. There was no channels and no internet to it. Not a major thing as I wasn't planning on watching TV but just something that could probably be easily fixed.
We had a very poor nights sleep and asked to move rooms the next day. The new room was just a standard double room (7) and was miles better. On the front of the property there was a bit of noise from the bar but nothing bad at all. Plus, the room was much cooler being on a lower floor and getting a bit more breeze.
The hotel did refund the difference in cost between the two rooms and waived the fee for having our dog stay. This is very much appreciated and our second night was actually really good, no issues at all. I'm writing this review mainly to encourage the hotel to consider some adjustments to the rooms on the restaurant extractor side of the building. I heard another guest complaining about the noise during my stay and I think this will be a recurring issue during warmer days when guests can't sleep with the windows shut. It especially felt bad to have paid extra for a 'nicer' room but not be able to sleep at all.

A welcoming, well presented and comfortable hotel. Friendly staff throughout, with an excellent restaurant / bar area.
Bonus points for a very good Sunday roast.
The family room that we booked was a very good size with joined rooms.
Minor points, the hotel car park was full on our arrival but cleared later on. Alternative paid parking near by. The TV struggled to load programs.

The property was clean and modern and the staff were helpful and friendly.
Although modern and fresh feeling it didn’t feel like much thought had gone into the design of the rooms, the bathrooms in particular. Nothing major but small inconveniences which add up, for example no hooks at all in the bathroom or room so nowhere to hang towels to dry (no bathroom radiator either) or to hang coats etc. The bathroom mirror was too high so unless you’re about 6 foot you could only see the top of your head. The shower was very difficult to get into as it was above the bath and then tucked into a sort of alcove, there was no handle and I was worried I would fall. It was also extremely noisy outside on a Saturday night, not really the hotels fault but i couldn’t sleep until about 1 where the revellers dispersed.

Great staff and everything I needed
