About this cottage rental
Torch Lake has long been one of the most sort after “Up North” destinations.
Our 1920 cottage has been loved by our family since 2004
The cottage has four bedrooms, arranged as 1 king and 3 queens comfortably sleeping 8 people.
The Carriage House sleeps up to 4 extra people
The 2 bedroom 1 bathroom Carriage House is available upon request if extra sleeping arrangements are needed and only available to the family renting the main cottage.
Each bedroom has 1 queen and 1 Twin bed. There is a kitchenette with a microwave/airfryer, fridge and dishwasher
The Carriage House would be an additional charge to the cottage and starts at $295-$495 per night depending on the season.
The cottage is on the east side facing west, therefore we enjoy amazing sunsets every evening. We have 180ft of lake frontage and a dock.
There is a buoy in front of our cottage for your boat if you decide to bring your own or rent one.
The lake has easy access for boating all around Torch and interconnecting Elk Lake and Lake Bellaire.
Shanty Creek is 15 minutes away and great for skiing, snowboarding and tubing.
Boyne Mountain Resort is 45 minutes away and is excellent for skiing in the winter, golf in the summer and Avalanche Bay water park.
Traverse City is about 35 minutes away with great shopping, bars and restaurants.
For those that prefer a more leisurely pace Alden is a short walk from our cottage down a private pathway into town, where there could be a great coffee waiting for you at the Muffin Tin, quaint antique and gift shops, the not to be missed Higgins Store famous for its ice creams and The Mill House which has all your kitchen spices needed for grilling at sunset on the cottage deck.
The cottage is available for weekly rental Saturday to Saturday in the summer months, long weekends and longer stays at other times all year round.
In the winter you could be snuggled in front of the fireplace watching a movie or talking about the fun you've had on the ski slopes
Or
In the summer you could find yourself sitting by the fire pit watching the sun go down over beautiful Torch Lake.

Beautiful place right on Torch Lake. Lots of space to just sit and relax and enjoy the lake. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Zoe was very responsive to communication.

We had a great time at the cabin and carriage house. The house offers spacious, comfortable stay and the carriage house is new and a great spot for additional guests. We enjoyed time on the lake, in town and just relaxing on the deck. It's really a great find and awesome place to get away with the family. Zoe was also very reponsjve and helpful with any questions we had. Highly recommend, Definitley plan to return!

Great 4 bedroom cottage directly on East side of Torch! Original feel is exactly what we were hoping for in our stay and it delivered! Zoe is a fantastic owner and provided everything we could need. The Blackstone griddle along with the charcoal grill were a perfect combo on the deck!!

Everything it was cracked up to be. Very relaxing stay getting away from it all and unplugging for a week.

Zoe was so helpful and responsive as well and even helped us connect with someone to help us rent a boat.

Our travel group of 8 adults enjoyed our 5 night stay this past week. Everything is there including kayaks, fire pit, outside griddle and a grill. The local pontoon rental place will deliver a pontoon right to the dock - we kept it for 2 days. Wonderful place to sit, relax and just breathe!

It is cozy and inviting, directly on the lake, between Alden and Bellaire. The perfect spot to kick back and soak up the sun and the lovely view. This is our second visit to this cottage, and we will be back.

Zoe was very easy to communicate with. Torch Lake is amazing and their lake frontage was spectacular. We enjoyed every minute of the vacation with our adult children and grand baby.

We had the best time at Zoe & Tony's place on Torch Lake! Everything was just perfect! They are both so kind and so easy to communicate with. Their place is super cute & cozy ... just what we were looking for when planning our vacation. The views are amazing! Nothing beats sitting on the deck in the morning with coffee and in the evenings with cocktails watching the sunset ... beautiful! We have already booked our summer 2023 vacation for next year and cannot wait to come back and experience their little slice of paradise on Torch. Thank you for such an amazing time! :)

What a fantastic place to stay and reconnect with family!
Everything was perfect, clean, kitchen had everything you needed, bathrooms were great as well. Beds were great for sleeping and gazing at the lake. The property was well maintained and fun to sit and relax. Hope we can go back next year.

Nice spot on the lake. Property is aged and not maintained adequately. Couches full of dog hair. Multiple wasp nests outside the house. Second floor bathroom is tiny and shower is impossible to use for grown adult. Floors upstairs are extremely noisy and will wake you up at night. House has no air conditioning and it gets really hot upstairs. Even with all the windows open and cool evenings it doesn’t cool off till the middle of the night. If you looking for a comfort this is not a place but the location on the lake is very nice.

We had a wonderful time at the house! It was so relaxing being on the water and the kids loved swimming, fishing and kayaking all along the shore. The house was completely charming and came equipped with absolutely everything we needed. The area is very quiet and we loved it's central location to other day trips including Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City. The owner Zoe is very responsible and quite helpful with any requests or questions. Thank you!

This is our second year at this rental and we loved it just as much this time around. The location is perfect and the cottage is quaint and cozy. The downstairs bath has been recently renovated and if the upstairs bath was renovated as well, this house would be literal perfection. We had a great time and hope to stay here again!

I have been traveling to Michigan with my husband and his family since 1993. Our children have grown up on Crystal Lake. We weren't able to go to the family cottage this Christmas. I found The Little Cottage on Torch Lake and was stunned at how at we immediately felt at home. In fact, the family decided they liked it even more than the family cottage and I NEVER expected to have those feelings. Zoe and Tony were wonderful! I hate to gush too much because I fear it won't be available for all the dates we plan to return. Couldn't have been any more pleased! If you are looking for thoroughly modern lodging, look elsewhere. If you want to experience an authentic Northern Michigan Cottage on the Lake experience with incomparable lake view/access, this place is perfection!

Planned a weekend golf-gathering with friends, all non-Michiganders, who've heard about the picturesque beauty of Torch Lake. "The Little House on Torch Lake" provided the perfect back-drop for rekindling, and making new, memories. This wonderfully kept property, well-appointed with four bedrooms and all the amenities needed for comfort, made for a great way to take-in Torch Lake.

This cottage is excellent and clean and feels like home. The cottage has a fantastic view of Torch Lake with a huge deck & yard. We were able to take many sunset pictures. The yard is large enough to play tag football or soccer with the kids. The cottage has a clean Weber grill for cook outs. There is a beautiful bonfire pit as well that we enjoyed and we cooked tons of s'mores under the beautiful stars at night. They even have a huge sand box for the kid’s right at the dock. There is a hammock that is hung right by the water for good naps during the day. The beds are #1 and all very comfortable. The view from the upstairs bedrooms of Torch Lake is amazing. My parents watched the fog roll in covering Torch Lake at 6am and by 9am when we were all awake they told us just how awesome the view was up there laying in bed and watching Mother Nature. There is cable TV & a DVD player. The kids would watch their shows while enjoying breakfast at the huge dinning room table that could seat all of us. There is a dishwasher & disposal. We celebrated my sons second birthday here. There is plenty of room to cook in the kitchen and we sure cooked! The bathrooms were very clean, the floors were just mopped when we arrived and super clean, the kitchen was clean, the outdoor grill was clean. Everything felt like a home rather than a cottage. We went to King Orchard Farm and picked raspberries and nectarines one afternoon. That was very fun for the family. We took a drive to Traverse City and ate pizza upstairs on a small little deck overlooking the water. We went to Brownwood and shopped at all of the stores and bought Sunday donoughts. We took a trip into Bellaire and shopped at the sidewalk sales. On the day we left we saved Alden for last & shopped all through the stores before driving back to Chicago. You can walk to Alden from this home on a small path. This cottage has nice new windows and a nice washer and dryer. There were RED bags for garbage. Go to Dockside for lucnh or dinner. They have excellent french fries. We loved this cottage so much and it is a part of us now. My little boy still says "bye bye cottage". He did not want to leave- none of us did. We can not wait to return. The owners of this home are super fantastic people. They really take care of their renters and keep you up to date on everything. There were plenty of lap blankets to use at night when it was cooler. We had one full week of SUN and blue skies! August 13th-August 20th 2011. THANK YOU

We recently (7/2011) stayed at this beautiful waterfront cottage and it definitely did not disappoint! The cottage was very clean, spacious, comfortable and comes very well equipped with many amenities to enjoy your stay. If you have children the large yard provides plenty of room to play and hangout! We were looking for a cottage atmosphere vs a home and this place was a perfect fit. The cottage is very rustic and cozy but yet elegant with tons charm and windows galore for amazing views! Great beds (Master BR was incredibly comfortable)!! One of the best things about this cottage is the large deck overlooking Torch Lake..we had amazing weather the week we stayed and spent many hours relaxing and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Torch Lake. Being on the east side the lake provides you with incredible sunsets! The location is also a big plus..cottage is 1 mile from Alden for shopping and ice cream (get there early) and if you are a boater there are 2 marina's within 5 miles of the cottage.
We are already looking at our vacation schedule for 2012!
I would definitely recommend this to anyone and would rent this place again in a heartbeat!
Enjoy!

My friend and I have rented more than 10 homes (with & without dads &/or kids) over the years and so far this is the only one we have gone back to. There is absolutely nothing missing. The word cottage is absolutely perfect. It's cozy, yet plenty large enough to be comfortable. It does not feel like many of the "rental" homes we have stayed at. It feels like a home someone lived in and loved and we were honored guests. The kids were swimming and collecting Petosky stones in the beautiful blue water every day. This year we brought our boat and spent hours on the amazing Torch Lake sand bar. The boat is for sale, so what a perfect last trip with it!

p.s. The upstairs beds were the most comfortable we have ever slept in!
