About this house rental
Maison du Lac, located on picturesque Beaucaire Avenue, sits on a quiet, sunny section of magnificent Megunticook Lake. You can swim, boat or fish immediately off your own dock.
In winter, the house becomes a cozy ski cabin located only minutes from the Camden Snow Bowl. The house has a back-up generator in the event of power outages and sits peacefully on the waters edge surrounded only by nature.
The all-wood post and beam interior enjoys lake views from every room. A ground floor to rooftop fieldstone fireplace graces the living area and master bedroom. Relax in a luxurious, leather LLBean Lodge sofa or armchair after a fun day in or on the water, hiking up Maiden's Cliff, strolling through town along the harbor, or sailing on an historic windjammer out on Penobscot Bay, or a day of downhill skiing.
Maison du Lac was completely rebuilt in 2007 and is clean, fresh and modern, while maintaining the cozy charm of a lakefront cabin. The house is southwest facing and enjoys spectacular sunsets.
The property is only three miles from oceanfront downtown Camden and its many restaurants, shops, and attractions.
The location on Megunticook Lake is ideal, in a no-wake zone for boats, so swimming, kayaking or canoeing is safe and calm, and Beaucaire Avenue itself is a quiet, leafy road ideal for walking, biking or jogging. For enthusiastic boaters you have 1300 +/- acres of lake outside the no wake zone for high speed boating/tubing or waterskiing.
In winter, there is only the the lake, trees and nature as far as the eye can see, and the lake is transformed to a winter wonderland of outstanding beauty, ideal for cross country skiing, ice skating or ice fishing.
Megunticook lake is one of the finest lakes in the region with a maximum depth in places of up to 70 feet which keeps the water cool and fresh all summer long, and there is no problem with grass or weeds which plague many of the nearby smaller water bodies.
Ideally situated in the Mid-Coast region, neighboring towns such as Belfast, Rockport and Rockland also offer a thriving food, art, and shopping scene which, coupled with the area’s vast array of sporting and outdoor adventure opportunities, including fresh and salt water boating and swimming, fishing, island hopping, mountain hiking and biking, walking and so on make the region a superb vacation destination.
Maison did Lac is ideally situated in the midst of all that the area offers, and if you can bear to leave the lake at all you will have much choice of how to spend your time.
Included in your rental are all linens and towels, including swim towels. Post Covid all bedding is professionally laundered and wrapped. The house is comfortably stocked with essentials including soaps and detergents, toilet paper, paper towels, spices and various pantry items.
Inside are two flat screen Samsung TVs, 55” and 65”, high speed internet, Edifier blue tooth speakers, many books, board games, and a tuned piano for entertainment. All bedrooms now have window air conditioning installed.
We look forward to hosting you Summer 2024!

Jennifer is awesome! Super attentive and quick to respond. Beautiful lake, great fishing, close to beautiful Camden town, ocean, grocery, well supplied kitchen
House very close to road, set up of rooms funky but pictures online are honest
We had a lovely time and great weather, no AC so if it rained all week might be a bit balmy with linen and sofa, etc

The waterfront cabin is perfect for a family getaway. Close to town, the harbor, outstanding local restaurants and beautiful sites. It served as a great home base but also a serene location for kayaking, fishing, swimming and reading. Beautiful views of the lake from all rooms. The kitchen and large tables were perfect for family dinners, puzzles and game nights. The hosts were available and ensured we had a great stay!

Beautiful Lake Home Away from Home
The house, property, dock, and lake are all stunning and located in the perfect spot. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. The lake is beautiful, loads of hikes close by, minutes from main street Camden, and you feel like you’re away from it all.

Absolutely wonderful home and location!!!
We had a fabulous time enjoying this beautiful property!!! Nestled on the edge of the lake, this home included everything you need to have a wonderful vacation - canoe and kayak for enjoying the lake & hammock for afternoon nap. The fire place was also lovely on the cool evenings. The home has been updated, but keeps the original character of the home. Our family very much enjoyed this home and will be returning!!!

Excellent quick trip to Camden
My wife and I decided in the early evening on a Friday to try and book a last minute trip to Maine for the Labor Day holiday. Our hosts were wonderfully accommodating and very responsive - without which our whim of a trip never would have happened. On top of that, the house was perfect. Wonderfully finished, a beautiful setting , great views, easy access to town... Not much more to be asked for. Highly recommended.

Wonderful house on beautiful lake with great swimming, kayak, and canoe access
This house is all that it is advertised to be and more. It easily accommodated our extended family of eight with full cooking and laundry facilities. Fully furnished with comfortable living and bedroom furniture inside, and a convenient dock for swimming and boat access, along with a separate kayak and canoe launch outside. The sunsets over Lake Megunticook were spectacular and often complemented with the presence of loons.

Beautiful and relaxing location and a great week with friends!
What a fun week we had at this beautiful lake house! Our group was two families, one from Chicago IL and one from Portland OR. We were looking for relaxation, time together and the perfect location and this house was it. We knew from reading previous reviews it was a special place and they were right. The house was very comfortable, had everything we needed (our kids LOVED the record player!!), was quiet and private (despite being close to the road) and the lake views (especially at sunset) and swimming dock were perfect. We ventured out in the mornings, including walking at Fernald's Neck Preserve on the Lake, hiking Mt Battie (take the trailhead at Megunticook Street), and walks on Beaucaire and the surrounding streets. Afternoons were almost always spent on the dock - swimming, jumping, reading in the sun, kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding (we rented one through Maine Sports on Rt 1). It was, simply put, the perfect summer vacation. We also did a day trip to Acadia which was well worth it. Also highly recommend the Morning Haul on the "Lively Lady" of Camden Harbor Cruises. We all enjoyed watching them haul the traps and learning about lobsters. The kids got to toss the small lobsters back and bait the traps. Highly recommend Camden Cone for ice cream. It was delicious! We also did a catered dinner (lobster rolls, chowder, salads, cookies etc) through Laura Cabot Catering to celebrate an anniversary. It was very good and so nice to enjoy on the deck at sunset. Overall, we would go back to Megunticook Lake in a heartbeat and hope to be back at this very special place soon!

Great week!
WE loved our stay at the lake house. The inlet sheltered our swimming kids from rougher waters and felt like the kids had their own swimming hole. The house was so beautiful - a quaint cabin with all the comforts. Great week.

Authentic lakeside camp charm, thoroughly up-to-date convenience
Anyone who knows what an authentic lakeside camp from the old days feels like would fall in love with this thoroughly up-to-date and very well-equipped house, as we did during our recent stay (2 parents, 2 kids and 3 grandparents). We could not have been more comfortable, whether inside the intimate, well-appointed and warm rooms, or outside, on the elevated deck and floating dock. Beyond merely comfort, however, what we appreciated most was the charm of the house coupled with it's lovely setting on a quiet, rocky cove on the lake. Very well situated to Camden, as others have observed. While dock is in close proximity to those of neighbors, they could not have been more friendly. A most memorable stay. We would return without hesitation (and hope to). Thanks to Jim for answering all of our inquiries promptly and for making our visit so very enjoyable!

Perfect setting for a group vacation. Love the lake view and central location to area attractions.
Well-maintained home in a peaceful setting close to hiking, shopping and restaurants. The central location makes it ideal for day trips up and down the coast such as a whale watching out of Boothbay Harbor, hiking Monhegan Island, shopping in Camden, and exploring Acadia National Park. Listen for loons at night on the lake!

A Wonderful Week in Maine on Beaucaire Avenue!
My husband & I & several friends spent a wonderful week in the house on Beaucaire Ave. Our host met us on the evening of our arrival & showed us throughout the house & explained how everything worked - he was very friendly & welcoming. The house was delightful - spacious rooms with comfortable furnishing, great showers, a stove to die for, & even a washer & dryer. There was also a room with a wall full of books, & a stereo which included a turntable! The property was spotless & everything was in working order. With the house located right on Megunticook Lake, we were able to put our kayaks in & explore the lake. The view from the deck was fabulous, especially at sunset. We lingered on the deck for as long as possible to enjoy the wonderful sights overlooking the lake. We were also able to see & hear loons on the lake, which really makes it feel like Maine! Exercise options were readily available - my husband rode his bike, friends and I walked to Barrett's Cove & back - a picturesque trek down Beaucaire Avenue. Being located a short distance from Camden made it possible to run into town to stock up on food. We highly recommend French & Brawn Market Place (great muffins!) & Megunticook Market. I am also very partial to Stonewall Kitchen with their free tasting samples & wide variety of foods. Their Wild Maine Blueberry Jam is the best! We ate a wonderful lobster dinner at home with the lobsters supplied and cooked by Camden's Hannaford Supermarket. Activities in the area were plentiful: shopping & dining in Camden, wine tasting at the Cellar Door Winery in Lincolnville, kayaking at Barrett's Cove, sightseeing at Mt. Battie - we did them all! We also highly recommend Chez Michel Restaurant in Lincolnville Beach, a particular favorite of ours. Their food is spectacular! We hated to leave at the end of our week & hope to return next year. Thanks to Jim & Jennifer for sharing their lovely home! We would definitely recommend this property to all!

Wonderful lakefront home!
Beautiful well maintained home located in mid coast Maine. Easy day trips to Bar Harbor or Portland. Boating and fishing just steps from your back porch. The house is large enough to accommodate a family of eight. A visit to Mount Battie is a must see to enjoy spectacular views of the Camden area. Would definitely recommend this property to family and friends!
