About this house rental
With over 3000 square feet on three levels, The “Harbor View Grand” lives up to its name both literally and figuratively. The concert grand piano, the sauna, and the huge 480 gallon Jacuzzi brand hot tub are just part of what make it so enjoyable. This spacious architect-designed residence was custom built to maximize the incredible 180 degree panoramic view from this property. And does it ever!
The entire east side of the main level is primarily a wall of windows. From the kitchen, dining room, and living room you can enjoy a spectacular view that spans from Mt. Baker to Mr. Rainer. You will see the Cascade mountains, the city of Oak Harbor, the harbor itself, a good portion of Puget Sound, Saratoga Passage, and Penn Cove. Maylor’s Point, Camano Island, and much of South Whidbey Island are also on display. At night, the view is just as stellar. The city of Oak Harbor and all the neighboring territory from Camano Island to south Whidbey put on a sparkling light show for free, to say nothing of the moon as it appears in the sky and glimmers across the water. With such a magnificent view of the water, mountains, city, and neighboring territory, the view here is grand—day and night!
While you will never tire of the view, you will want to enjoy the rest of our home. Hungry? On the main level is a gourmet kitchen full of dishes, pots, pans, cooking utensils, and newer appliances. There is a convection oven, smooth top stove, large side by side refrigerator/freezer, built-in microwave, and a quiet-as-can-be dishwasher. A comfortable breakfast bar seats 2-3 people should anybody just want to sit and have a quick bite.
The nearby living room has a huge, vaulted open beam ceiling with exposed tongue and groove wood that serves the 7’ Baldwin concert grand piano extremely well. (What a great room for music!) We are the original owners of this incredibly powerful yet delicately nuanced instrument and have kept it tuned, regulated, and maintained religiously. This piano is worthy of the best pianists among us. Can’t play the piano? There is an outstanding stereo system that highlights a classic audiophile set of M&K speakers with matching subwoofer that sound incredible!
The lower level has a large family/TV room complete with a wet bar, small fridge, pellet stove, and 50” cable TV which is hooked into another great stereo system. Lots of CDs and DVD’s are also available. This room has a newer sleeper sofa. The lower level also has a 4 person Nordic cedar sauna which can be operated wet (steam) or dry.
Outside on the covered patio is a huge 480 gallon J-375 Jacuzzi hot tub that accommodates 6 people, including one in a full chase-type lounge seat. This deluxe model has a built in radio and many lighting options, a waterfall, and comfortable built in head-rests, and easy opening cover lift that one person can open and close in a jiffy. Talk about relaxing, the 46 jets can be adjusted to just the perfect strength to provide a rejuvenating, relaxing, and pro-quality massage. Jacuzzi engineers even made sure to include jets for a foot massage! We leave the Jacuzzi in operation all 365 days of the year, but no matter when you use it, when you are done you will come out relaxed~
The top level contains the master bedroom/bathroom and the “peak” bedroom. The master bedroom has a king Tempurpedic bed and high vaulted ceiling with a bank of floor to ceiling windows that provide a great view to the north that includes Mt. Baker. The master bath has both a shower and a jetted tub. The peak bedroom with its large vaulted ceiling looks out over the world from the highest point in our home. This room has two beds and is the favorite bedroom for anyone who likes to climb a ladder. Across from the single bed near the base of another bank of windows is a ladder that leads to the loft. Here you will find a cozy and comfortable double mattress bed on the carpet. This bed is the clear choice of younger family members, although a younger couple will find it as romantic as can be! The city lights are in full view when looking out the windows while tucked in bed.
In addition to the gourmet kitchen, elegant living room, and a dining area which has six leather chairs and large travertine dining table, the main level has two well appointed bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a double bed. Both of these rooms have their own flat screen TV’s and DVD players. The laundry room and full bath complete with double sinks are located on this level. There are also extra folding tables that can be set up if 10 or 11 people want to dine at once. (We would put a folding table at the end of the travertine table and could seat 10 comfortably all at once. You can seat 11 but you might need to set up one or both of the folding tables separate from the dining table, or a couple of people can eat in the kitchen.)
Outside the main level on the east side of the house is a large deck with 8 chairs. At the end of the deck is a large round table for six and area suitable for dining should the weather be warm. The view from the deck is truly magnificent and eating in the open air makes the food taste just a little better.
No matter the time of year, the Harbor View Grand is an exceptional place to stay. There are no curtains, just windows galore which makes this home bright and airy no matter the weather outside. A good storm is an event not to be missed when looking out our main windows, the high vaulted ceilings allow you to hear the soothing sound of the rain as it pitterpats away on the roof.
The Harbor View Grand is centrally located high atop a hill in Oak Harbor just minutes from restaurants, shopping, public beaches, a wonderful public indoor swimming pool, Deception Pass State Park, and Deception Pass Bridge. Just 12 minutes from the Harbor View Grand, the Deception Pass park and bridge are scenic beyond words (its the most visited state park in Washington State) and a person can spend hours walking the beach and the wooded trails along the ocean. Five minutes away is NAS Whidbey Island. From our home you can drive to the San Juan Islands ferry in 30 minutes and to the Olympic Peninsula ferry in just 20 minutes. When based at the Harbor View Grand, you can explore all of Whidbey Island—its many parks, beaches, shopping, and dining—and never be more than an hour away. It makes a great central base for exploring the San Juan Islands, the Olympic Peninsula, and the mainland from Seattle to Vancouver, British Columbia which is only 2 hour drive.
The Harbor View Grand makes for a great getaway for a family, a wonderful rendezvous location for a group of friends, or a restful planning retreat for business or religious groups. If you do not know it already, we love this home and are confident you will, too.

The home was in a lovely neighborhood with amazing views ontop a hill. Kitchen was very well equipped and hot tub was very large! Living room was lovely with a full wall of windows to enjoy the view. Wonderful sound system upstairs and down. We would definitely comeback!

The views from the house are gorgeous and really make the place feel special.
The house is spacious and open, perfect for our family of tall adults!
The hot tub was also amazing with all of the bells and whistles that you could ask for!

Great places for family to visit our relatives in Oak Harbor. Nice views, plenty of room to spread out, and peaceful setting.

This home is in a convenient location if you are interested in outdoor activities. There are a number of parks around. You can see much of the natural beauty from driving around but there are various lengths of trails available. The house provides enough conveniences that you could be cozy even during a spill of bad weather.Large home that could easily provide individual privacy or room for a large group.

The house was in a great location for us - less than 10 minutes to our wedding venue. The house could accommodate our family so everyone had a bedroom and bathroom. We did have an issue with the hot tub for several days and were not able to use it, which was tough because that was one of the things we were all looking forward to.

We are a group of friends who have know each other since elementary school and grew up in Oak Harbor. It was wonderful to gather everyone together in a fabulous home with an amazing view to share memories, laughs and life experiences.

We enjoyed our stay very much! We were five couples and it was roomy enough to make our gathering very comfortable. A full bathroom on each of the three floors was excellent. The best thing was there were enough chairs to seat us all comfortably around the table where we shared meals together, had hours-long deep conversations and played games. The long deck fit all of us in a front row seat of the gorgeous view. Mt. Baker was splendid in all its glory! The house was clean and beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied for cooking our meals. The grand piano was a huge bonus as a few of us are musicians and we made good use of it!

Felt Like Home
The listing accurately described the house. Better view than our home but other than that it felt like home. Kitchen is well organized and they had every thing we needed.
The living room is beautiful and comfortable. If you like music then you will really enjoy the house. The house has lots of windows and more light than most homes. The light is good for one's attitude.
There were two things that bothered us a bit: 1. No window covering to block out the morning light and give us the level of privacy we wanted; 2. the carpet is white and beautiful but we felt uncomfortable eating in the dinning room for fear of staining the carpet via an accident. As to the privacy, the bedrooms are secluded from neighbors but still we were not comfortable knowing who might be outside looking in.
The location is as good as you can ask for. Shopping is just down the road, connecting to major roads are easy to get to, the neighborhood is very nice and the views are great.
Should we return to this area, we would seek to stay here again.

Beautiful and luxurious
This home is gorgeous and has everything you may need for your visit. The master bed is very comfortable (I didn’t use the others, so can’t speak for them), and I slept better than I do at home. There are not curtains in the large, beautiful windows in that room. It didn’t bother me, I’m an early riser so I enjoyed being able to see part of the sunrise from bed. But, I’ll mention it as some may like to know that ahead of time. Really, though, everything was wonderful and I really enjoyed my stay.

Great house with a fabulous view!
This was a great place to stay for a large family gathering. The house is very clean, and has plenty of room for everyone to be together, or to spread out when they’ve had too much togetherness. The location is very convenient to Oak Harbor, and the view is amazing!

Relaxing stay with a view!
We had a lovely relaxing weekend enjoying the views and all the amenities. It's a beautiful house in a great location. We enjoyed walking down to Windjammer park and getting breakfast & coffee at Whidbey Coffee. We did several hikes in the area and then came back and enjoyed a time of rest, playing music and some games. Our family would definitely stay here again.

Classy house with a great view
Very classy house featuring inspiring views of the water, cascades and Mount Baker. Very well stocked kitchen in terms of implements, we were able to find everything we needed. Enjoyed playing the piano and sitting in the hot tub. The bedroom with the loft was a lot of fun for our 10-year old. The upstairs bedrooms have a lot of windows, but no curtains, so be prepared for that, especially if you visit during the summer. Rec room downstairs was well laid-out.
We had some discrepancies in the check-in instructions we received - we had the wrong code for the front door at first - but the property manager was easy to reach and helped us get in without much delay. We had trouble figuring out how to use the entertainment center downstairs, I wish there had been clear instructions available for how to play CDs for example.
Overall a nice place, especially for those looking for a posh getaway with a few grown-up friends.

Place was awesome. Really can’t wait to rent it again. It really had everything and was such an amazing escape.

Beautiful location and comfortable stay
Such an amazing view! We really loved the big open livingroom and how it looked over the waterfront. It has a big kitchen with lots of supplies and enough for our group of 10 to be able to cook meals all weekend. Lots of chairs, extra card tables, tons of pots and pans, lots of sheets and blankets and a whole closet of towels made it comfortable for a group.
The hot tub and sauna are amazing. The hot tub has seats for 8 people and is clean and easy. The sauna fits four comfortably and is such a treat to have on a cold weekend. We also loved having three full bathrooms, one on each floor, so no one was waiting for showers.
The only thing we wished for was more regular beds. There is a king and two queens in their own rooms, so it's great for three couples. The fourth bedroom has a single and the loft queen that isn't made up with sheets and is tough to get in and out of. The other beds are fold out couches in the basement without any curtains to give it privacy from the hot tub. I'd love to see them put a queen bed in the loft room and a real queen in the basement to make it more comfortable for groups of adults. That said, we still would book this place again.

Short but beautiful 3 night stay!!
Property was absolutely beautiful! Scenery was breathtaking!
Very close within walking distance to various stores. Plenty of room with hot tub, sauna, cable and internet service. The owner was very gracious. We really enjoyed our short stay!

Beautiful home with incredible views and fantastic location!
This is a gorgeous property on Whidbey Island near Oak Harbor. There are plenty of shops within walking distance and there was plenty of space for our large group.
Check-in and check-out are both smooth processes and the owner is easy to keep in contact with, should any issues arise. Our group was very happy during our stay - there are even board games to play in the basement, which kept us very entertained after our long days out exploring the island. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Great for big gatherings
Well stocked house for multigenerational gatherings. Plenty of space with two full living rooms (although the main living room off the kitchen and dining room with the great view does not have a TV. So if you want to watch sports or a movie need to go downstairs). A little weird that there’s a huge TV downstairs and flat panels in the bedrooms but no HDTV, just fuzzy standard def.
Everyone wanted to be in the kitchen which has a great view and a little seating area at the counter for breakfast-only seats 2 . Big table with great view just outside the kitchen in the dining room. Main living room has a nice 6’ grand piano if anyone in your group plays, a big plus.
The house is close to everything in town. Safeway (grocery) and WalMart (everything) are just a 2-3 minute drive away. Hwy 20, only way on/off the island is just a min away. Great views from the living room and upstairs bedrooms. Nifty loft but best left to teenagers/twenty-somethings to go up and down the ladder.
Bring your own soap and shampoo, nothing in the bathrooms.
No shoes in the house and lots of other notes around directing you.

Great house for a large group!
3 couples and 3 young adult children were all able to stay comfortably here. Good location in town. Beautiful view of the bay, we can only imagine how much better it could have been-as unfortunately we were on Whidbey during a time of very low visibility due to wildfire smoke.

Lovely home with lots of room and beautiful surroundings.
We had a family reunion/ birthday celebration for our 95 year old mother. The piano was the draw and beautiful location. We will cherish the memories singing and catching up with one another.

The home was very comfortable, clean and inviting! Beds were comfortable, kitchen and bathrooms well stocked. Easy access to shops and restaurants. Wonderful water and city views from a bank of windows across the living room. Would love to return.

Great location for groups traveling together!
We totally enjoyed staying in this lovely home. The views were SO NICE and the huge windows throughout the home make you feel totally attached to the great outdoors. Wonderful long deck with chairs for lounging, plus a table for 6 if you're going alfresco. The floor plan allowed our adult children to have bedrooms of their own with a shared bath (main floor). The master bed/bath are on the upper level and so is an additional bdrm with a fantastic loft/sleeping space for additional guests/kids. The home is carpeted so it's very quiet regardless of how many people are sharing the space. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals and was spacious enough for multiple cooks. The combination living/dining area includes a large table suitable for 6-8, but there's also a bar with seating for two in the kitchen. Open the sliding glass doors and you're instantly connected to the deck and additional eating space...or open another set of doors that will connect you to the bbq area with picnic table. We all enjoyed the spa tub located off of the lower level and the additional living area on that level is a huge bonus for groups who might need private time now and then. If you're traveling with another family you will LOVE the extra lower- level space which also has a full bathroom and sauna. The neighborhood is lovely and has access to everything you could need within 5-10 minutes. Highly recommended and we will definitely rent this home again.
