About this house rental
PADDLE BOARD & HOT TUB All Included ENJOY Private WATERFRONT Beach House
Share in our blessing at the Westview House. We're Chris & Carolyn Mortensen and we're new to renting our spot, but we're excited for you to experience the place that we love so much. We bought this, our dream home in 2016 with great plans to enjoy the beach daily rain or shine, to play with our growing son Kaiden on the tidal sandbar late into the warm summer evenings and to dream big and plan upcoming adventures together on cool autumn nights over wine in the hot tub.
Well were we ever surprised when within a year of our new house purchase we both began to feel the call on our hearts to go and serve at a Young Life Camp in Princeton BC.
What'd we do? We moved!!! We're so excited to see where this big adventure will lead.
One day we'll be back on the Sunshine Coast as it truly does capture our hearts but for now we're making our dream home available for rent to special couples looking to refocus themselves and invest in their relationship.
You'll walk in the front door and first be struck by the amazing waterfront view. It kind of looks like you're on a boat because all you see is water. We are renting the main level of the house, during your stay you will have sole private access to the upper deck, lower patio, hot tub and beach access. The remainder of the house will NOT be occupied during your stay. Just a little time by the fire with a book or a paddle in our kayak on the still waters is all it will take to have you hooked.
The Sunshine Coast has a pace and charm all its own and our house is perfectly situated to make the most of your visit. It is situated a 4min drive from the Sechelt (see-sh-elt) town centre which can also be accessed by foot along the waterfront.
Make yourself at home and enjoy the cozy amenities that include full kitchen, full bathroom, master bedroom & living room with gas fireplace, TV, Netflix, Wifi, wireless music system. We also offer gas BBQ, Hot Tub, free Stand Up Paddle Board, sun chaises, patio dining w/sun shade umbrellas and many more daily necessities.
When our family does manage to make it back for some personal R&R time, we have a number of favourite coastal activities that we enjoy doing together. If it happens to be on days of extreme tides, we will make sure to walk down the bay to the huge sand bar that is exposed at low tide. We explore the tidal pools, sink ourselves down into the "quicksand" and swing on the rope swing for sure! If its winter time we can be up on the groomed snowshoe & cross country ski trail at Dakota ridge in 30min. It's also just a fun place to sled and explore the coastal back country.
We hit the Basted Baker for our morning cup of joe along with a fresh pastry and stroll along the path to Snicket park to just chill on the tide sculpted rocks in the morning sun.
If we happen to be staying over on a Friday night we're often tempted by the kitchy "Mexican Night" dinner at Pebbles Restaurant. Far from authentic but good food and $5 fruity drinks are always hard to pass up:)
Ok. ok. I digress... back to the house. So, its really light and bright with open south west exposure and tons of daylight flooding in. What seemed at first to be a downfall of the house is that the sunset in the summer happens just out of sight from our living room. Bummer right? Well not really because what this does is forces us to fill our wine glass and head down to the water where the full and lingering sunset can taken in from water level with the reflections dancing off the waves. See!? Way better than watching from the living room.

The property as well as the location are really enjoyable. Chris and Carolyn are great hosts. Unfortunately the hot tub was underperforming when we were there, but all other factors were well in line with our expectations.
Thanks Guys. You have a peaceful location on the coast.

So relaxing to sit outside and enjoy the view. Lovely inside, exactly as the photos show. Well equipped, very clean and comfy beds. We didn't want to leave!!!!!

Loved this cute place with a big deck and hot tub, well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. We walked into town on Saturday for the arts market and scones. Easy access to the ferry. Can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful view as soon as you walk in the door. Everything you need for a weekend. Hot tub was nice. Close to shops and restaurants. Good location. Very busy road. Driveway is a little tight. A little on the pricy side of things.
I booked on VRBO.CA and I was charged in foreign currency. Not sure why that is.

This home has everything you need for a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday. Very well equipped, cozy, and a beautiful view no matter what the weather. Communication with the host was quick and efficient.

As soon as you step into the house, you're greeted by a tranquil expanse of water, sunsets, equal many I've experienced in the tropics. I spent a lot of time training my camera on the horizon and shooting multiple time lapse shots. On my arrival in chilly December, I instinctively turned on the fireplace, mesmerized by the serene view outside. The hot tub, exceptionally clean and spacious enough for six, was a luxurious retreat I enjoyed solo. The kitchen, well-equipped and boasting ample counter space, inspired my culinary creativity. Located near Selma Park, the house offers the convenience of proximity to town for easy shopping. It features two peaceful bedrooms; despite the road's proximity at the property's top, nights are surprisingly quiet. Parking is a breeze, located right at the entrance, making unloading effortless. After a rejuvenating 4 and a half days, I'm already planning my return, having found the perfect spot for a much-needed recharge.

We lucked out finding this place. Great setting and amenities, quiet and looking out on the water, with direct access. When needed, the host was responsive and made himself available. We'd thoroughly recommend this property!!

Everything was as described, and perfect for two couples! Feel very lucky to have found this wonderful accommodation, it was exactly what we were hoping for. The uncluttered nature of the rooms belies the fact that every small detail for comfort is provided. Condiments, body and dish soaps, a lending library, games, even a good playable guitar and binoculars are among many numerous small comforts. Most importantly, do you love to be right on the ocean, or watch wildlife and water?
The view and location can’t be beat. The hot tub was a big bonus, and the hosts even arranged for wonderful sunny days and spectacular sunsets every night! 😉 (ok, maybe that was just serendipitous!)
Thank you, Chris and Carolyn, for sharing your lovely home. We look forward to returning one day!

Cannot recommend enough!! Stunning views - gorgeous sunsets!! Stars at night!! Cozy fireplace!! Hot tub Time Machine!! 😜 The hosts were amazing and incredibly accommodating. Close to amenities - dining - groceries - wine - etc. Sechelt was close with beautiful seaside strolls and cute little shops. Lovely beach access - sea lions, cranes and all manner of flora and fauna!! Incredible experience that we’ll cherish forever!

The property was beautiful and well maintained with the most spectacular sea views from the balcony or the lower deck. Communication was great and we always got really speedy replies. Just a few minutes drive to everything Sechelt has to offer. The bed in the main bedroom was incredibly comfy. We didn't try the other one as our daughter slept in a travel cot in that room. The house is just off the main highway which can get busy at certain times of day but you don't notice this from the beach side of the house.

We will miss the sound of the ocean and truly amazing sunsets appreciated from the hot tub. A great place to get away or search out all the Sechelt area has to offer!

Don't stay here if you need to work from home.....the view, the hot tub and the proximity to water sports, hiking and good food are too much of a distraction. Fortunately, we came to relax, hike and paddle. The house was clean, the kitchen well furnished with appliances, a book of well written instructions is available. We were especially impressed by the communication with Chris, the owner, always responsive.
As other renters have mentioned the access to the property is off a main arterial and a bit tight turning into the driveway but there is a fish mobile hanging along the fence to identify the driveway. And there is plenty of room to turnaround in the driveway so you are not backing out into traffic.
We enjoyed watching the cruise ships passing by Vancouver Island, even saw Orcas in Davis Bay.
We would not hesitate to recommend this property.

Great location - enjoyed the hot tub - hiking/jogging Porpoise Bay trails, went sea kayaking and also enjoyed the paddle boards. We hope to visit again.

Stayed here with my teenage daughter for a short getaway. Beautiful view, great kitchen and the starry skies from the hot tub were memorable.
The parking situation could be better indicated onsite. We weren’t sure where the driveway was and unfortunately needed some help from BCAA to get out of the unused boat launch drive right next to the property.

Incredible views from this comfortable, well appointed property! Hot tub was a bonus for relaxing. Close to town and some great restaurants but the kitchen was nicely stocked for when we wanted to cook our own meals. Would definitely stay again.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this property. It was super clean, great location and spectacular view. We had an amazing Christmas break here and caught some sunsets while relaxing in the jacuzzi. Chris was a fantastic host and the communication was great. We will definitely be returning.

The location on the water was absolutely lovely! Hot tub view was spectacular.
A few corrections for some of the reviews I read...
...there are blinds on all bedroom windows. Although the unit is close to neighbours, I never felt uncomfortable about privacy.
...the walk down to the beach is steep but it is on a cement boat ramp so it's not so difficult to navigate
Very much enjoyed our stay! Will come again in the future.

Nice home with a great view.
When we checked in at 9pm all the windows were sealed up. It must have been 50 degrees inside. Took hours for house to cool off. Made for a hot sleep.
Otherwise a good stay.

the location is hard to beat and the view is breathtaking. your view of the bay anywhere from the common living areas is absolutely stunning. the home was clean and comfortable. during low tide, you have access to what amounts to a private beach in your back yard. the access way is steep so it may be difficult for seniors and you have to walk past a strip of rocks along the shoreline to access a larger sand beach. We really enjoyed taking the SUP boards out almost daily. The water is very clean and comfortable on a warm summers day. you're 2 minutes from Sechelt, 3 mins to David bay beach, no more than 10 mins to the Canadian tire/IGA.
Pluses:
- beach towels are provided
- Netflix is provided
- two high quality stand up paddle boards
- hot tub on the back patio
Minuses:
- couldn't really think of any real minuses. Could have used some kid friendly plates/cups and utensils.

Better in person
The view from the deck is better than I could have imagined. The place was comfortable and great but the best part was sitting out on the deck and enjoying the view. Will definitely stay here again.

Awesome View
This was our second visit to this lovely property and we were not disappointed. We were worried about how the newly constructed house on the south side would effect the view, but that owner had been considerate of others and built there house very low on property, so you just saw the tops of their flat roofs and still had unobstructed views of the ocean. We were last here 3 summers ago, and the property has been very well kept up (appeared to have a fresh coat of paint inside). The kitchen is still well stocked for cooking ware. It was lovely to snuggle up to the gas fireplace on the colder/rainy days. Definitely plan on going back!

We felt right at home here. Loved the view of the shipping lane, even saw a whale come in close to shoreline
Hosts were very responsive . We loved that we were so close to town and great boutique shops, coffee bar but also easy access to great hiking trails

Beautiful home, spectacular views!
This is a beautiful, warm and welcoming home. Very well appointed, you won't need to bring anything extra! The view is stunning and the hot tub is a wonderful way to end a busy day of hiking. The owner is excellent with communication and made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend Westview house to anyone looking for a relaxing and beautiful Sunshine Coast getaway.

Views, views, views!
We had a wonderful weekend at Chris and Carolyn's place, the view is front and centre when you walk in the door, looking out at the water and across to Vancouver Island. The house is a cozy, clean and welcoming space with a kitchen/living room area that is centred on the fantastic view. We were able to walk right down to the beach, soak in the hot tub and enjoy the close access to Robert's Creek and Sechelt. It was a fabulous stay and we'd love to come back again someday.

Beds (and couch) were super comfy, hot tub was clean and relaxing with the beautiful ocean view. Super quiet neighbourhood. Highly recommend 🙂

Our stay was beautiful at Selma Park. Gorgeous view and the hot tub was awesome. Absolutely stunning apartment. Only 2 things we weren't expecting was: How close we would be to the neighbours. They could see us in the tub, and through all the windows in the apartment, as there are no window coverings at all other than the bedrooms. It really wasn't a big deal for us, but a lot closer than we were expecting by looking at the photos in the ad and not as private. So I thought to mention it for others here who were looking for more privacy at this price. Also, we were warned about the chemicals in the hot tub, but it actually ruined my bathing suit, discoloring it completely and our skin was extremely dry and irritated for quite a few days after, regardless of showering and moisturizing after use. However, we had been warned about it. The communication was good with the caretakers. But again, the chemicals were harsher than expected and I'm out a bathing suit now.Otherwise, it was an absolutely gorgeous spot. The ocean was so calming, the kitchen was fun to cook in and the stars from the tub were absolutely stunning. When the tide is out, I highly recommend a walk along the beach and its very close to town to access stores and groceries.

Incredible Stay
The house is just as described, it’s super comfortable, clean, and has all the necessities of home. What isn’t describable is just how stunning the views are from the deck. The sunsets are spectacular, especially while enjoying the hot tub! Chris and Leah were so kind and accommodating. This place was the most perfect spot for our relaxing getaway. Would return in a heartbeat!

Great Location no kayaks
The location was beautiful. Part of the reason why I rented this place was for the kayak which I found out once we had arrived was apparently broken. It was too cold to go paddle boarding with my son. We were a little disappointed in this. Overall the place was very clean. I honestly found it a little overpriced - there are a lot of fees added in addition. Not sure if we would return.
