About this apartment rental
Stresa is a beautiful and elegant town on Lake Maggiore, at the foot of the Italian Alps.
The apartment "Vista Lago" has stunning views of virtually the whole lake and is very romantic. From the front terrace you can see Isola Bella and Isola Madre and Stresa old town and from the other side, you can see Laveno and the eastern side of the lake. This side also overlooks a wonderful sub-tropical garden filled with palms and flowering plants and the sound of birdsong. The terrace is large (30m2) and fully furnished with table and chairs and sunloungers and is partly shaded.
Secure garage available for one car but you do not need a car with this rental.
The apartment is stylishly but comfortably furnished and spacious (110m2) and is very well-equipped. There is parquet flooring throughout. The location is both very quiet and leafy, but is under a 5-minute walk from both the lake and the historic centre of Stresa with all its restaurants and shops.
It was recently renovated and finished to a high standard and has all the mod cons. Each room has a lake view and a view of 'Isola Bella'.
Free Wi-Fi Internet, air-conditioning and central heating and is available all year round.
It is located on the 1st floor in a purpose-built residence with lift.
The apartment comfortably accommodates up 4 people in one double bedroom and one twin-bedded (or double) room. 2 bathrooms - one with shower and bidet and one with large corner bath for 2 people + shower attachment and bidet. I have another apartment in the same residence with lake view which sleeps up to 6 people.
The living room has lovely views on the lake and leads to the terrace. It has a dining area for 6 people and a decorative fireplace. The kitchen is separate and well-equipped with dishwasher, electric oven and gas hob, washing machine, microwave, Gaggia electric Espresso/cappuccino machine, mini-oven, electric filter coffee machine, toaster and kettle. It also has a small table with 2 chairs.
The bedlinen and towels are changed at the end of the first week and the apartment is cleaned (no extra charge).
Milan Malpensa Airport is less than an hour's drive (31km) and 85 km from Milan itself. From the end of March to the end of September there is a bus service (Alibus) which takes you directly from Malpensa airport to the apartment in under an hour. It stops at the church on the lake, 5 minutes' walk from the apartment.
The bus-stop for the lakeside towns of Verbania and Arona is very near.
Stresa makes a perfect base from which to explore the wonders of Lago Maggiore: hop on any ferry to discover the magic of the Borromean Islands, the fascinating villas along the shore, the Piedmont towns of Arona and Intra and the picturesque towns on the other side of the lake in Lombardy. You can even take a full-day boat tour all the way up the lake to Switzerland (Ascona and Locarno). Stresa's railway station which is a 15-20 minute walk connects you easily with Milan (in under and hour), where you can shop, sightsee, or simply sip a coffee and watch the world go by in the famous Piazza del Duomo.

There are really no negatives about this apartment. A perfect place to stay. The walk down to the town is quite easy even for us as an older couple. The satellite TV was not working but we managed to stream the Olympics so that wasn't a problem. The kitchen was well equipped and Giuliano was always on hand to sort out some minor issues. The ferry queues can get quite high late morning onwards so it pays to get an early ferry to visit the islands. We ate at Lo Stornello restaurant which was excellent.

The views are amazing! The place was clean, convenient, comfortable and has everything you need for your stay.
Chantal was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Giuliano was friendly and helpful and available for any needs. Thanks for a great experience.

We enjoyed our stay at Vista Lago on Lake Maggiore.
Chantal Rowley was very responsive and provided comprehensive info on the condo and Stresa which was was appreciated. The condo is in a perfect location -- an easy walk to the town square, shops and restaurants. A small car is recommended given the narrow streets and garage. The condo is well equipped and clean. Everything was as stated. We enjoyed our stay at Vista Lago on Lake Maggiore!

This apartment is not the cheapest but is worth every penny. The apartment itself is spacious and well decorated. The terrace catches the sun most of the day, although there is also plenty of shade. The view over the lake and Stresa is spectacular. Lake Maggiore is beautiful. The perfect place to relax, chill and enjoy the dolce vita!

Chantal and Giuliano were both very helpful and responsive. The view of the lake and mountains is spectacular! Spacious apartment.

A stunning, luxurious, well-appointed, immaculate condo in a gorgeous setting. We felt that we were privileged houseguests in the home of a refined lady who was out-of-town for a few days, not merely transient renters in a condo where maximizing profit was the goal -- which is usually the feeling that we have in Vrbo rentals. The kitchen was exceptionally well-equipped, although we used only the refrigerator and the microwave. Chantal Rowley, assistant Giuliano, and taxi driver Mario could not have been any more pleasant to communicate with. We had an unforgettable stay at Vista Lago and would love to return!

This is a large, modern, clean & well equipped apartment. Both bathrooms are large with plumbing fixtures worthy of a 5 star hotel. Double sinks and a large tub in one bath and a large walk-in shower in the second full bathroom. Both open to the main hallway. 2 big bedrooms with lots of storage space & big windows with stunning views of the city and lake. Plenty of elec outlets. kitchen is a long galley with a big refrigerator/freezer (large by EU standards). The big kitchen window opens to the city and the Alps of Switzerland beyond. The kitchen has all the tools you will need for all but the most ambitious, sophisticated menu. The largest room is the dining-living room with its high (9 foot?) ceilings and wall-o’windows opening to the full lake view north to Lucarno. The room ends at large patio doors opening onto the massive covered, wraparound patio. The patio runs East West and receives lots of sun from morning to sunset. There is always a little shade to be found but lower one of the four roller awnings and the shaded area expands massively. Our late August required the western awning from 2-7pm to meet our shade requirements and it made the comfortable difference. The 4 place patio table was our go to spot for all meals. That view cannot be ignored. The patio seating includes a large cushioned couch and two chairs also 4 chaise loungers. Yes there is a mini-split air conditioner in the living room and it cools the entire apartment effectively on hot, still days. The immediate neighborhood is entirely residential and quiet. Shops and full grocery stories are 10-12 minute walk down the hill and through the pleasant charming old town streets. Old Stresa is charming and not overrun with tourists. There are no noise issues at night from discos or restaurants. It takes 30 minutes to walk from the apartment down to the lake through Stresa and along the lakeside promenade to its northern conclusion at the next village: Carciano. Thats not far and it’s a beautiful walk past the grand hotels and beach clubs. Swimming? We are swimmers and struggled to find a great beach. They exist so don’t despair Bring water shoes! it’s rocky not sandy. We walked 10 minutes down and east to the Minigolf-private club-public beach area. There is a sidewalk the entire walk. The Agent was excellent, easy to reach and always gracious and helpful. Parking is secure in the bldg’s garage. The streets to the apt are narrow and confusing so seek his help in advance.

Beautiful Stresa
We stayed 2 nights during Europe’s blazing heat wave. And they were the most comfortable nights of our trip. The apartment is great; the deck is magical. Excellent check in and support from hosts.

Would definitely stay here again!
If you want it all stay here! It has a magnificent view, clean bathrooms, comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. There is a garage but you do not need your car since it is a 5 minute walk to town. To visit the beautiful islands, the ferry is also within 5 minutes walking distance. I liked the small details of extra towels and bathroom essentials. Both Chantal and Giuliano responded quickly to my inquires. I highly recommend this place. Thank you.

This apartment was our home away from home. It fitted perfectly for a group of four, very comfortable, classy furniture, is well equipped, clean and has an amazing lake view from every room. Believe it or not, the view from the terrace is even better than on the pictures. Check-in was easy, during our whole stay Giuliano was 5/5! He welcomed us to the apartment and has been available and friendly whenever we needed him. Internet connectivity is excellent, working from there with video-calls worked perfectly. The whole property is located just steps away from the centre of Stresa, close to restaurants, supermarket etc. but is still very quiet. We would recommend any person to stay here and were sad that we had to leave...we will be back!

Wonderful stay!
What a fabulous property.
We have really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment.
The whole apartment is immaculate. The beds are really comfortable with good quality bedding. Plenty of towels provided.
The views are amazing over the lake and the balcony is huge, we sat out every evening enjoying a glass of wine, very peaceful too, no noise.
The neighbours were also friendly and let on when we saw them.
Plenty to watch on the satellite tv, WiFi was very good.
Everything you could possibly need was provided for you in this property.
You are a five minute walk to all the bars and restaurants.
Chantal was so helpful, she even organised a taxi to collect us from the airport and take us straight to the apartment. Nothing was too much trouble. Communication with Chantal was excellent.
I will definitely be recommending this property to my friends and family.
We would most certainly return and stay here again.
Thank you Chantal for contributing in making our stay in Stresa a wonderful experience.

Spotless apartment, amazing views!!!
Vista Lago is a fully equipped, modern 2 bedroom apartment right in the centre of Stresa. Check-in and out was simple and quick thanks to Giuliano, and communication with Chantal was very easy and pleasant. The apartment is very comfortable and clean, and most importantly, the view is spectacular. We spent lots of time on the huge balcony just enjoying beautiful Lago Maggiore. I highly recommend this property! We plan on returning again ourselves.

What a view!
Great apartment in a really good location with an easy short walk into Stresa with the ferry terminal and loads of restaurants, ice cream shops and supermarket. We miss that view of the lake from every room, but especially on the terrace. Highly recommend and we would go back again.

We had a very unseasonably extremely hot 9 days in Stresa. The apartment was very comfortable and well appointed- we were extremely grateful for the fans that Giuliano provided. The view of the lake is lovely and we watched the ‘ toings’ and ‘ froings’ of all the boats with great interest. The whole process of getting to the apartment and leaving was extremely easy- taxi arranged by Chantal, to collect us from the station and take us to the apartment where we were met by Giuliano. Giuliano was a great asset during our stay and when we left kindly held our luggage till we got the bus to the airport. All in all- a highly recommended place to stay. Chantal was so helpful and made the process very simple. Stresa is a lovely wee town with plenty places to keep you fed and watered. As with every town around the Italian Lakes, there are hills to be climbed but the way back to the apartment was manageable- even in the extreme heat.A big thank you to Chantal and to Giuliano for helping with our holiday.

Magical!
Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood and a little up the hillside, Vista Lago is absolutely magical. The photos barely do justice to the view of the lake and mountains from the covered terrace--and, of course, the view changes with the weather and time of day. We loved to sit in the dawn or at dusk and watch the lights go on or off at Isola Bella and the sun outline the mountains, sometimes there were church bells. The flat is very comfortable (the beds exceptionally comfortable!) and Chantal thoughtfully provided everything we could possibly need--plenty of clean towels, linens, a well-equipped kitchen, all open, spacious for two couples, and modern. Chantal herself was not on-site but Guiliano, her representative who lives in the building was instantly available and always helpful. Taxis were easy to access and the nice driver, Mario, took us to the airport at the end in a timely way.
Stresa was a great base for exporing the area in April. The ferry is right there and gives easy access to the islands, and all the other towns and sights. My feeling was that high summer would be jammed with visitors and a lot less fun. April was perfect. Stresa has some good restaurants and carry-outs and a welll-stocked grocery. Nice little shops, too. One thing older people should be aware of is that the last part of the walking journey home to Vista Lago from downtown Stresa gets a bit steep. Pace yourself!
It was a perfectly lovely, relaxing week in a dreamy, gorgeous place.

Really excellent
The reviews of this apartment and the photos on the website in some ways do not do it justice - it is superb, with wonderful views over the town and the lake from the lounge and main bedroom and especially from the terrace. It was also spotlessly clean inside and out and equipped with everything necessary for a short or longer stay. (The only thing that my wife missed was a 'grab rail' in the shower.)
As some other reviewers have mentioned, the manager Giuliano is an angel - nothing is too much trouble (including when we arrived parking our hire car for us in the 'parking box' (as he quaintly termed it) as my wife - the driver - did not feel comfortable doing so after a very tiring day travelling. She was able to get the car in and out the following day after a good sleep but it is quite tight (as is one point on the route to the apartment - fold in your wing-mirrors and inhale sharply!).
Also as some other reviewers have mentioned, the apartment is uphill from the town. For anyone reasonably fit and if you intend to keep to the local area a car is probably not necessary (local taxis are available) but if you have mobility issues (as my wife does) or if you want to get out into the countryside (as we like to, including a drive we made up into Switzerland, to Locarno) I would recommend a car. There is also a very steep walk from the garage level to the apartment building itself (a sloped drive to a 'drop-off' point but no parking, or 30 steps) but there is a lift once you reach the building.

Great apartment within walking distance of the town center and had spectacular views!
We had a great overall stay at Chantal’s home. She was very easy to organize details with and even made transportation to the apartment a breeze. The apartment itself was clean, provided everything we needed and was in a great location! You can not beat the terrace and the views! I would definitely stay there again!

We would love to stay at Vista Lago again!
We had such a lovely time! Vista Lago exceeded our expectations. The large terrace with its sweeping view of the lake and the mountains beyond was breathtaking at first encounter, heartwarming forever after. At night, the views--even from the apartment windows--were enchanting, magical. There was a lightning show on our last night which impelled one grandson to video!
The description and photos of the listing were so attractive (and accurate, indeed), the location so convenient, we were determined to stay at Vista Lago. No other listing would do!
Luckily, our travel plans were flexible enough to match its availability.
We especially enjoyed visiting Isola Bella and Isola Madre.
We also did the one-day excursion Lake Maggiore Express with a train ride into Switzerland and a long ferry trip from Locarno to Stresa. In Stresa, some of us enjoyed the Friday market day, where Jim splurged on artisanal cookies!
We all enjoyed two restaurants in Stresa: La Botte (Via Mazzini) and Il Vicoletto ( Vicolo del Pocivo).
A great pleasure of our stay in Vista Lago was meeting Mr. Giuliano Guardini who was amazingly and wonderfully helpful, literally going extra miles for/with us. He is a gem!
Grazie mille, Giuliano!
Thanks so much for everything, Chantal!
Tanti auguri,
Jim and Portia

Lovely Apartment with Stunning Views
We had a wonderful week in Stresa made even more enjoyable by our accommodation at Vista Lago, an absolutely lovely apartment with superb uninterrupted views over Lake Maggiore. Vista Lago is a lovely spacious two bedroom/two bathroom apartment that has everything the facilities list on the web-site said it has. A great feature is its expansive balcony - an ideal place in which to start each day with breakfast at 8am (whilst the church bells in the distance chime The Angelus) and then in the evening to relax with a nightcap or two after getting back from dinner in the town square below. Through quaint and colourful little winding narrow streets, it is a short walk down to the waterfront and also to the town with its village atmosphere and many restaurants, patisseries, ice-cream, and other shops. Lake Maggiore also offers many attractions for visitors. Ferry trips to the nearby islands are regular as are the longer ferry services to other lakeside towns and to Locarno in Switzerland. Isola dei Pescatori (or Fisherman's Island), just off-shore from Stresa, has some very good restaurants with local seafood from the Lake as specialties and with free boat transport from the mainland.
The owner, Chantal was always helpful to us and responded quickly to our questions and communications during the booking process. Her local Stresa manager, Giuliano was just a great guy and a wonderful help throughout our stay. Nothing was a bother to him. On a couple of occasions when a taxi was not readily available, Giuliano took us to our destination. Chantal has a taxi owner friend, Mario, who was also a great help during our visit. Walking back up to VIsta Lago from the town square is a climb which can be a little daunting to older persons. This was not a problem as Mario and his taxi were almost always available to us at short notice - day and night. Chantal has fitted out Vista Lago for everybody's comfort. It has quality linen and towels, nice furnishings and little touches that make it feel like home. The memories of our time in Stresa and VIsta Lago are vivid and happy ones and our photos will always remind us of just how wonderful the views were from the balcony at Vista Lago. It's a lovely apartment from which to enjoy a great vacation. Ian and Trish McAndrew - Sydney Australia

Idyllic location overlooking the town of Stresa with magnificent lake views!
There are so many great things to say about Vista Lago. The pictures posted on VRBO are beautiful but do not capture the full spaciousness, comfort and remarkable views of this property.
The bedrooms, each with an individual adjacent bathroom, are large, with great closets and extremely comfortable beds. The kitchen and living/dining room are outfitted with all the necessities (and many perks, some like an espresso machine) to make your stay feel like you are in your own home. All rooms have large windows with stunning views.
However these views don't compare to those found on the large terrace with a 180 degree vista of Stresa, the Borromeo Bay of Lago Maggiore and its three islands. Extremely comfortable and moveable deck furniture allowed you to position yourself in sun or shade and/or a view to your liking.
The price you pay for this view is walking up and down via al Castello. But we found that this provided sufficient exercise to prevent any weight gain from the great meals we had in town.
The property owner and the local property manager, Giuliano, were available for any of our concerns, which were none. Our airport transfers were arranged with a local driver, Mario, who was wonderful and available for local or day trips. On our return airport trip he made a detour through the town of Arona where we stopped briefly to see the statue of San Carlo Borromeo. It was like a blessing for our return flight and and beautiful ending to a fabulous two week stay at Vista Lago.

Spacious and comfortable
Great apartment with incredible views. Close to city center. Has everything one may Need for comfortable stay. Probably not suitable for people with limited mobility, otherwise highly recommended. Many thanks to the property manager, Giuliano, who went out of his way to pick us up from the hotel where we stayed the first night, and drove our rental car through some narrow streets leading to apartment. What a perfect gentleman ! All in all we would stay in this apartment again in a heartbeat

Excellent location and views.
This two bedroom, two bathroom apartment is located within walking distance of the ferries which run on the lake as well as the downtown area of Stresa. Therefore you can walk anywhere you wish. It is not too far from the train station as we walked there as well. Apartment was clean and well stocked. And the views of both sunrise and sunset were excellent.

The best apartment in Stresa with a view you will never forget!
Everything about Vista Lago was wonderful. The view of Lago Maggiore from the large and comfortably furnished terrace is amazing! We stayed one month and found the apartment very comfortable, attractively furnished, and easy to live in.The linens and towels were very nice and changed weekly, the choices of various coffee pots (from espresso machine to filter coffee) amazing, and everything very clean and tidy. All appliances worked perfectly. The property manager, Giuliano, is an absolute sweetheart and helped us with several small things, including arranging our transportation back to Milan. His English is excellent. The owner is also very kind and helpful with advice about favorite restaurants etc. Spending a month in Stresa without a car was easy---we bought the reduced rate one week passes for the ferry so we could travel anywhere on the ferry system as much as we wanted. We went to many other small, charming towns on the lake as well as the 3 Borromean Islands. We took several viator tours (Zermatt and the Matterhorn was amazing!) and were picked up at the Tomasucchi Travel agency--5 minute walk from the apartment. Walking into Stresa "downtown" takes about 10 minutes with many restaurants, small produce and prosciutto shops, bakery, pastry shops, pharmacies and a nice Carrefour supermarket. Our favorite restaurants were Osteria degli Amici, the Piemontese and La Piazetta where the pizzas are the best in town. But our best memories will always be having a glass of the wonderful local wines, olives, local cheese etc on the terrace looking out at beautiful Lago Maggiore.

The apartment was ideally located near shopping, restaurants and the lake. We didn't need to use our car at all.

Fantastic apartment in beautiful location
We had a wonderful family holiday at Vista Lago - the apartment is fantastic, spotlessly clean, and excellently equipped and finished. The highlight is the amazing view from every room, and of course the balcony - ideal to relax on and watch the boats on the lake, and the sun setting behind the mountains. Stresa itself is beautiful, and a short stroll downhill from the apartment - with lovely restaurants and enotecas, and plenty of gelato options! Lots to do out and about in the area. A great place to stay in a lovely part of the world. The owner and property manager could not have been more helpful and welcoming too. Highly recommended.

Comfortable and luxurious Maggiore apartment
The apartment is comfortable and luxurious, but the main attraction has to be the views from the wonderful terrace. Sitting outside with a glass of wine and watching the evening boat traffic and the sun going down over the mountains was incredible. The owner is wonderful to work with and the on site manager very responsive to the couple of small issues we had. The apartment has everything you could possibly need from satellite TV to three different coffee makers! We had a brilliant week sampling the local restaurants and doing some amazing mountain hikes.

Lovely Apartment
This was a lovely apartment-very clean and comfortable. Views off the porch are outstanding. Convenient to all. A bit of an uphill walk but well worth it. Owner very responsive to all our needs as well as the apartment manager. Recommended many wonderful restaurants. Hope to return someday.
