Great location, lovely restaurant with a really nice atmosphere (and food) friendly staff, good shower. We got a space in car park but it is very small.
At time of booking it said we got a free room upgrade. On arrival we were given a room at top of hotel up several flights of steep stairs. Room was small (and this was supposed to be an upgrade!) sloping ceiling so had to be careful not to bang head. Room overlooked car park. Window sills dirty. Coffee was really strong nespresso pods, no instant sachets and no biscuits!

Very pleasant staff
Lovely white fluffy towels
Comfy bed with nice fresh bedding
The restaurant and public areas desperately need a deep clean .. you could see the grim / dust on the glass at the bar , floors were sticky and walls needed a serious Jif to get rid of marks .
I understand this is an old building but these comments are nothing to do with an old building

My sister and I stayed at The Sheep for a long weekend and couldn't have been happier with our choice! The staff were exceptional, and nothing was too much trouble. They even helped us with our heavy suitcases with a smile :) We had both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were very happy with both the choice and quality of the food. The bar area was comfortable and again, the service excellent.
We wanted to stay somewhere that we wouldn't need to drive if we didn't want to, and The Sheep was perfectly situated for the restaurants, coffee shops, pubs and shops in town. Just step outside the front door!
We have recommended the Sheep to our family and friends.

The location was good, near restaurants and shops.
The tv didn’t work or the shower. The hot water tap in the basin didn’t work properly . receptionist wasn’t really interested when I was reporting these and there’s no one to check you in before 3 pm, we will t be staying there again!

Dinner in the restaurant was lovely, the location was great and the bed/room were comfortable - if a little small.
We had no hot water for our first 24 hours as the boiler had broken. Not ideal, as this meant we couldn't shower before the wedding we were attending.
What was more unprofessional was the staff's response to the situation. It took them some time to address the issue and they showed little to no concern until we chased them. When they finally did call someone, it meant we had a plumber entering and leaving the room whilst getting ready for the wedding.
Although they recognised the inconvenience, we never received a convincing apology and made out as if it was more of an inconvenience for them than us.
It's a shame because overall the place was nice but I'd expect a hotel of this value to have three things nailed down. A warm bed, a warm shower and friendly staff. Guess 1/3 isn't great.
