Gemakkelijk te bereiken . Veilig parkeren ! Vriendelijk onthaal met voldoende uitleg .
Aangename kamer met terras . Uitstekend ontbijt . Rustige omgeving en toch in het centrum van deze mooie stad ;
Aangenaam wandelen in de mooie groene tuin . Stille omgeving, dus rustige nachten .

The unique atmosphere of the convent made it enjoyable to explore the building which was an old convent with lots of original features. So there were lots of areas to walk around, sit in or even play table tennis inside a big room.
The bedroom was large and had a balcony. It's situation next to the palace was excellent for walking around the town.
The bed was rather firm but large. We would have liked a kettle in the room to make a cup of tea.

This historical convent was turned into a hotel in the 1990's. The building, with its architecture, murals and courtyards, is charming. However the hotel needs to be updated... new mattresses and modernized bathrooms would be a plus.
Customer service was greatly lacking. To begin, when the young woman at the desk staff offered to help us with our bags, she took us up one floor in the lift and said, "Your room is that way," indicating the direction. We walked along a long stretch of an inner courtyard, turned the corner and found our room number 104 inside an alcove. There were 15 very steep steps in a darkened stairwell up to our room. Help with the bags should have included going up these steps. The room was a suite...nowhere in the description was it mention that ALL suites at this hotel are on the top of steep stairways. My husband, with difficulty, went up to see the suite; he said it was lovely but unheated. Due to mobility issues, I immediately went to the front desk and asked for another room. The same young woman showed me a room on the first floor that was easy to access, but said there was a price difference. According to Booking, the suite I had booked was 100 euro more per night. I asked for a price adjustment, sighting that the suite's location was not conducive to senior citizens AND, again, that the stairs had not been mentioned in the description. She said she would give us a discount.
The next day, at checkout, with another young woman at the desk, I saw that our "discount' was 5%; they were still charging us the price of a suite. As we had not paid for the suite ahead of time, this wasn't an issue of a refund...they could have charged us fairly for the room that we did use. Expressing my displeasure, the price of the room was lowered, yet it was still higher than the listed price on Booking for that weekend. The young woman at our checkout was very apologetic and of all the staff we encountered, she was the most professional.
Regardless of our reservation, expecting us to pay the price of a suite when we used a regular room was unethical. The fact that we had to bring this to their attention leaves us with an unpleasant memory of this hotel.

Right next door to the Palace, free parking inside and outside the Pousada grounds, excellent WiFi speed (considering the thick walls)
Very spacious rooms, separate wardrobe and armchairs corners, plenty of English speaking channels on the TV, central heating in the room worked well. Entire hotel was warm with fireplaces in the several lounges. Complimentary bottle of water daily.
Easy walk into town centre and good choice of restaurants that were opened despite middle of winter. Close excess to the Armoury & Hunting museums (very impressive) and Castle.
As usual for me, the beds were too hard and on the first night, the shower temperature was only warm.
Eggs & bacon at breakfast was only warm (disappointing) despite good choice of cold cuts, local breads and fruits. Nespresso coffee machine saved the breakfast!!

The building is bountiful with a lot of history.
The bed not very comfortable

Exquisitely decorated rooms with quiet ambience. Perfect for a restful family holiday.
The room temperature somehow always felt to be very hot.

The room was comfortable enough if a little dated. The shower was very good. The long and public rooms were nice as was the dining room
I think they were short staffed so service was a little slow at reception and checking out took more than 30 minutes although they were not busy. We couldn't eat at the restaurant which was a shame as there were tables available so I suspect they didn't have the staff again.

It's our third stay at this hotel, and improvements still take place. The story behind the walls has not been forgotten, and is only surpassed by the pleasentry of the staff.

We last stayed at this lovely Pousada five years ago, and Covid forced postponement in 2020 and 2021. It is a beautiful old building, a rabbit warren of fascinating rooms, the lounges and breakfast rooms are especially attractive. We did notice that a lot of the attractive flower arrangements etc were no longer there, and though the rooms internally are in good condition the external walls are not as bright and clean as when we last visited. Breakfast continued to be of a very high quality but we dined elsewhere. The location of the hotel adjacent to the Royal Palace and Square is quite wonderful.
Our superior room, on the third floor, was spacious but badly lit and poorly set out. The rwo most comfortable chairs had no natural light or electric light. Reception did manage to provide a table lamp but it was still a struggle to read a book whilst sitting in the chairs.

It is always enjoyable staying in beautiful historical buildings and the location is very good, parking was no problem. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Great location!
Poor lights in the rooms. The hotel is not prepared for people who bring more than one piece of luggage.
The lunch area staff is not nice.

My husband and I require some extra help. The entire staff members went out of their way to help us when necessary.

Beautiful pousada in nice small town. Very friendly staff. Lovely areas to relax and eat or have a drink, nice courtyard set up for breakfast which was good. Excellent parking.
Dinner menu printed on plastic and very limited. Seemed short staffed as one lovely lady seemed to be doing most of the service, bar, pool, waiting on at dinner etc but delivered excellent service with a smile.

Stunning estate and historic building, beautiful pool area, good breakfast,
The hotel lacked a bit atmosphere. Grant rooms that are empty most of the time, also in high season.
Not the most accessible with baby stroller

The location, right beside the royal palace was amazing. it is a beautiful building and was very comfortable. It is right in town and an easy walk to the square, restaurants and the castle. The staff were very helpful and we could park our car privately at the back.
it was all lovely. only one criticism for our stay was that some other guests had a dog with them that barked a lot and disturbed the peace of the setting.

First rate stay. Ambience, room, food all excellent.
Juvenile pair at check in kept giggling at us which was somewhat insulting.

Comfortable and very large room with private terrace. Pet-friendly hotel, and our dog was made very welcome. The hotel kindly arranged for us to have breakfast outside so our dog could be with us. Great location in the center of Vila Vicosa. Easy walking to good restaurants.
Shower pressure was a little low.

Stunningly kept historical gem, with modern comforts and facilities.
A bird, maybe a peacock, started calling at 5am to its chums some way away.
