Close to the city center, a quick break before going to Milford Sound
The place is old and smelly, surely the last time the carpet was cleaned was 200 years ago or something.
I booked 7 places throughout my stay in New Zealand and it is the only place thay makes me itchy to the point i had to take allergy medicine so i had to say the cleaning is terrible
3.3
Room was clean and comfortable
The Hotel overall was run down and poorly maintained.
Restaurant and bars were closed.
3.3
Basic but adequate and clean. Comfortable.
TV I think was old and tired. Wavy picture but was okay since we were busy with activities . Building old and smelt damp but room was modern and comfortable.

Location

Great location
Run down ,poor parking

It was very quiet (the hotel was nowhere near capacity), the room was lovely and warm, bathroom was clean and sparkly (that vanity!) and it was close to everything with the main road to the Fiordland National park a stones throw away. Super affordable, it was a very welcoming and friendly experience for a lone traveller.
The external of the property felt a little tired and rundown compared to the other hotels in the area.
3.3
The beds we’re comfortable and warm.
Phoned for more tea, coffee,no answer! No toaster or facilities to make breakfast, room and hallways very dated. Hardly any t v channels. Not enough chairs for the 4 people to sit in when room was booked for 4.Rec room was freezing so didn’t want to hang out in there where the only plates, knives forks ect were.
3.3
Staff were very nice and helpful and when we had an issue they addressed it immediately.
3.3
Clean well appointed room.
Shortage of staff meant no dining room open.

The 1st Unit we went to was not make up for guests. Not a good start. The whole complex is very run down. I would struggle to recommend it to my friends but it was cheap.
Cheap is not always the best. Very run down.
3.3
It was quiet
The place needed repairs and updating

This was a great value for money resting stop from a big day at Milford Sound. The price was very reasonable, and the room was exactly what we needed for a comfortable stay.
Not sure if anything can be done about this, but when people were passing by our room, we could hear everything they were saying so the doors are not particularly sound proof. Other than that, great stay.
3.3
Didn't have any
Tv and remote control did not match therefore tv didn't work which was unacceptable.

When we travel, we generally pick simple places that meet the following criteria - clean, good hot water supply, good wifi, the option to make tea and a basic breakfast in the morning, and ideally quiet. This motel met all of that, except the wifi was a little slow starting around 5pm once more people were back in their rooms. Streaming became difficult, so we watched random TV shows. There also wasn't a microwave in the room. Not a deal breaker, but we had them in other motels that were cheaper. Otherwise, it was an easy walk to town and of course is in a beautiful area.
Wifi consistency and no microwave

Friendly staff at reception.
Room itself was clean.
Price reflected the conditions of hotel
Hotel extremely run down.
TV 2 channels. Remote didn't even work
Not even a microwave.
Hotel would have been great in its day. Needs a lot of work to bring it up to standard. Very disappointing

a bit old fashioned, but clean, 15 min walk to town

Bed comfy, TV 1 channel rest fuzzy, no table or draws.
Advertised with 2 restaurants and a bar, all closed!!

The room was a reasonable size, clean and comfy bed. Close to town. Great having a washing machine and dryer available as we had been travelling a week. Staff were courteous and helpful.
3.3

The staff were helpful in locating a fan for our room when we asked. In terms of general amenities, the room came with most to be expected.
The temperature was incredibly warm both outdoors and indoors (note - no air conditioning). At times the temperature outside had cooled down but the room remained very warm. There were no fly screens on the windows so leaving the windows open the whole time risked insects coming in. We ended up being given a fan but it was really uncomfortable in the room due to the heat.
3.3
Not much
Fridge froze all our food, exterior not appealing, clean but very small and dated. Wasn't value for money. Quite disappointing
