Pleasant
The sorroundings, the garden, the room view.
The smell and the quality of the room. Wanting to preserve authenticity does not mean not maintaining or making cheap repairs. Very expensive for what they offer.

Doesn’t look like 5 star hotel
Location
Not well maintained rooms (doors not working properly), very poor breakfast, no swimming pool, the restaurant works 3 days a week

great location but not worth the price.
location was superb. room was spacious with modern style bathroom
furnishings were tired, although in keeping with the style of the building. the bar and restaurant were separate from the main building and closed. limited choice at breakfast with rationed amounts of cheese and meats and juice. no decaf option for coffee.

really really really really really dissapointing.
it looks nice from the outside but looks are deceiving !
No 5 star hotel i have ever been in didnt have a bar. Didnt have a mini bar either. I asked where could i have a drink and I was shown some garden furniture outside reception. I asked for a local draught beer, hardly a demanding request really in a five star hotel but no, they only do bottles. ok so no great shakes what do you ? oh we have Corona and we have Desperados. So what else? We dont have anything else. At this point i found the entire Basil Fawlty thing come over me. So i am in a wonderful looking French Chateau in a great part of France and the best and only two beers they can come up with are those two ? seriously? It is no more than a house in one place with rooms in it and you breakfast in the shared reception room and the restaraunt is another building totally. Good luck if it is raining. There was no toilet in the main hotel lower lobby we were told to go over the road to the restaraunt. The duvet was full of lumps and had to be changed. The toilet hadnt been cleaned properly and had "hairs" in it. Yuk! I was tired after a long journey and really needed sleep but the guy wouldnt give me the key and i asked three times. He insisted on coming up to the room to show us how a light switch worked. I think the biggest lie is the distance from Town. The 10 minute i was repeatedly told and sold on turned out to be 20 minutes to the edge and 25 into the centre and i dont walk slowly either. This is NO 5 Star hotel by any stretch of the imagination, i cant work out how it can say it is.

Our stay in Honfleur
The hotel is set in a lovely location. Beautiful rooms and the restaurant area very pleasant. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the lady at breakfast on the last day gave us a tip about visiting the church in the woods above the hotel which we enjoyed seeing.
It really is a lovely hotel. Not really a question of what we didn't like but a couple of comments. One thing when we got back each night was that there was a lovely fire going in the sitting room but nobody was on reception to ask for an evening drink. We might have also found it helpful to have a little information about what to do or see in the area.
