- personal top
- location top
- breakfast amazing
- service top
- room in a original cave
- parking service
45€ for parking (24h) is expensive but you have free taxi transfer from the parking to hotel, transfer is very flexibel. I think it’s a good choice to take this service.

The staff were friendly and knowledgable, the room was just perfect. The view from the room was superb. The highlight of our stay was Dinner. Absolutely amazing food, fabulous service, knowledgeable and efficient waiting staff. Will definitely be back.
The property was perfect. The parking staff and process was painful. Car park attendant was rude and dismissive. Didn’t explain what we had to do and tutted and sighed while we were unpacking the car. Not a nice first experience.

The staff was very accommodating, professional and friendly. They provided us with an overview and history of MATERA and made many great recommendations for food and scenic spots.
One of the rooms was not as expected (upstairs/downstairs sleeping areas) and neither offered a balcony nor a view which were the two main reasons we booked this hotel. The one room had a glass walled bathroom which offered no privacy. We in turn had to pay for an additional room as we were not traveling as a couple and wanted our (somewhat) private spaces.

Rooms were obviously so unique, ours was inside the cave and huge. Sleeping here was such a unique experience, I loved it. The location and view from the hotel was amazing as well. Breakfast was EXCELLENT- plenty of selections, good quality food and the view on the outdoor patio was breathtaking. I didn't want to get up from the breakfast table. The pizza restaurant right beside the hotel was also so so so good. If you're in Matera, pizzeraia "Piu Sud" is a must.
4.5
Location, staff, decor, design, food were all fantastic. Such a beautiful experience.
Parking was expensive and a bit of an operation (the staff was very organized and helpful though!)
3.5
Beautiful views and location. Clean rooms with decent breakfast buffet.
We actually paid a bit extra for junior suite but did not initially receive anything like what was in the photos on Booking.com (we were put in a cave room with a bit of a dated bathroom with no bathtub). After making a point of this we were eventually moved but lucky that 1 of the rooms in the photos was available.
Also, no iron is available for guests to use - you must use their ironing service which is minimum €8 per item!

The room is very dark and the bathroom is not very private

The location of the hotel is beyond perfect - you walk outside and are immediately in the Sassi Caveoso and can truly walk anywhere you want. We could see the church of Saint Peter right outside our hotel window. The rooms were comfortable and beautiful, the staff so kind and attentive.

2.5
The location was perfect and the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. very comfortable bed.
The shower and bathroom were small. No comfortable seating inside or outside room.
Breakfast setting was beautiful but staff was indifferent. Had to remind several times to receive morning coffee.
Welcome drink coupon was not successful since location nor staff were welcoming. We were basically ignored.

The staff were exceptionally friendly & helpful. Our room had amazing views and was extremely comfortable.
The person at the garage was very grumpy & unpleasant. He worked for the parking garage not the hotel.

the location was perfect, not too close up the hussle and bussle. view was incredible
Woken up around 7am each morning with banging coming from next door, several stories relayed to us apologising for neighbour who was not part of the complex, another story was that it was workmen, not sure what the real reason was.

Location . Site of James Bond movie car chase scene.
Very unique hotel, in that it’s built in a cave.
Breakfast was average.
Off season, not many options for dinner.
1) The main purpose of selecting the hotel was to tour the caves and Sassi. The entire area was shut down due to a movie production and they didn’t allow us to take photographs of the central main area in a city whose purpose s tourism. Hotel didn’t communicate this until we were there.
2) Glass doors in bathroom, not good when traveling with children!

We couldn´t choose any better place for our stay in Matera. Everything was just perfect since we arrived. The parking lot is located outside of Matera but they have a shuttle service for their guests which works great. The hotel itself is just incredible!! It´s very unique and it has a soul what I personally really appreciate. Our cave suite was spacy with clean bathroom, comfy king bed and our private patio from where we had absolutely fabulous views. We also enjoyed breakfast which is served as a buffet and they have everything you could wish to start your day. The breakfast terrace has amazing views.
