Stunning view from the room and the restaurant, fantastic staff: very helpful, professional and friendly. The dinner at the restaurant was superb, good breakfast.
Apparently in the area there is little or no connection for mobile phones so it could be difficult to make phone calls. The hotel provides an excellent WiFi service.

Great parking, great location, great food, great service. Ideal hotel for quality food and drink, great night sleep. Staff were very good from start to finish.
4.5
The staff, location and ambience of the place were excellent.
We were seated in the conservatory which was poorly decorated with modest furniture. The dinner menu selection and food were just OK considering the outlandish price they charge for a one stay.
2.0
the location
no heat (they came to room twice to attempt to fix, last call at 11:30PM!), cutlery was not delivered to the room with breakfast and we had go outside to notify the server, no refrigerator which was advertised, some food cold, no toilet tissue holders in both bathrooms, no soap in one bathroom, lack of chairs in living room space.

all round fantastic place. friendly and welcoming staff (to us and our dog) beautiful view. spacious room, clean and comfortable beds

The staff were lovely and we enjoyed both dining and breakfast. Our only regret is that we did not arrive sooner so we could enjoy the grounds.
Everything was as expected. It fit the description when booking so no disappointment at all.

I enjoyed the whole experience. The meals were excellent. The atmosphere was great. And the setting is splendid.
One minor issue was that the heating in the bedroom was on the oppressive side, with the radiator within a few feet of the bed. It might be worth letting guests in Room 16 know in advance that if they want to enjoy a cool sleep, to turn down the radiator before going to bed.

The staff all were amazing— engaging, accommodating, friendly, a knowledgeable. The lounge was lovely, the food was superb, the tea and scones were a dream come true.
The beds could’ve been more comfortable.

Breakfast each day was superb. The choice was huge and the quality truly great. We stayed four days; I had something different every day and enjoyed everything. The hotel was beautifully decorated and arriving in the dark to such a sight was very memorable! The staff are simply superb, making us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The lounge and dining room had fires lit day and night (there is nothing worse than a hotel where they don't light the fires!) and candles and music added to the festive atmosphere.
I was a little disappointed in the standard double room only because the tiny window didn't allow much of a view. As we were visiting in mid winter it probably didn't make much of a difference but I would have felt a bit closed in in the summer. If I return I will ask for a room with a bigger window. Housekeeping was meticulous and on the whole the room was very pleasant, plenty warm enough and cosy.

Amazing experience both staying overnight and dinning. The staff was just amazing.
Nothing to say.

All would be forgiven but not at £560 a night
- dental string & shaving packaging blowing about outside front door to lodge
- wallpaper peeling in bedroom
- electrical noise at night in bathroom led us to search for fuse box and switch off fuse to bathroom lights in aid of good nights sleep
- bare breezeblocks for landscape edging
etc
location lovely staff lovely but terrible value compared w other hotels in area for similar prices.

The attentive staff and boss dog Hamish made the stay seem personal and just lovely. The monthly presentation on Scottish history was an unexpected highlight of the trip! Highly recommend this property!

Good location with lovely views. Comfortable room with everything we needed for our one night stay. Good menu choice, good quality ingredients, beautifully prepared and presented. Good wine list. Excellent breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Good service.
Nothing to mention here. Wish we had stayed longer.

beautiful building, gorgeous house and rooms, very friendly staff
Service was good overall but for breakfast we waited forever, the service personnell tried their best but seemed overwhelmed. We waited forever for breakfast and were ignored / not attended as you would expect for the price you pay. Dinner we has was ok but compared to other dinners we had in scotland one of my least favourotes. Small portions with however big price tags. Food tasted good but we had eaten much better for less throughout our stay.

The view and location
A bit overpriced
4.5
The quality of service and comfort of the rooms.
3.5
Close to a beautiful, scenic waterfront. Stunning garden area and bery cozy interior.
as the building is old it is VERY noisy. could literally hear everything from other rooms around us. Extremely annoying drunk American woman (imagine that) screaming down the phone for 20 mins late into the night did not help matters but of course not the fault of the hotel to an extent.
