Loved the location, the view, the comfortable rooms, lovely food and friendly staff.

Such a beautiful location. The hotel is charming and we were looked after very well.

The location was amazing
The attitude of the majority of the staff

Location and views
Fact I paid for a superior double and end up with two singles pushed together.
4.3
The friendliness of the staff and the peacefulness of the whole hotel.
The food was not quite of the same standard as previously and the way the meals were presented suggested that it was designed to be easy for the kitchen to control.
4.3
Loved the atmosphere and the attentive seevice of some of the staff. Some let the others down, whichw as rather upsetting.
One member of staff was very condesending at the dinner time on my sisters birthday, we asked for a meal and was corrected quite rudely on how it was pronounced and laughed at us. We were quite upset and found that customer service not what we expected- as a previous customer at this hotel. It was quite shocking. As when i went with my husband all the staff couldnt do more for us. I think my sister was a little dissapointed- not sure she would go again. I will return howveer as i had a much better experience last time.

Tegan is a fab therepist in the spa , Andrew faced some delays bless on breakfast , but we were totally fine with it as . Very hard front of house and not their fault If back up failing from behind . He was great 👍
Nothing we love it , good ole fashion country hotel , does not need refurbish like some say on trip Advisor it’s an 1800 building 👍

Fantastic location right next to Lake Vyrnwy. Great view from our room. Excellent value breakfast.
Dinner Sunday night was disappointing. The restaurant was full and a long wait for our order to be taken. Food choices not available or ran out. Tables served out of order which is inconsiderate. Bedroom furniture was dusty. Staircase rails were sticky.

location was stunning.

Beautiful location with exceptional view. Woken by wonderful dawn chorus and distant first cuckoo this year.
Hotel in need of some maintenance mainly paint!

The views are jaw dropping, and the grounds are full of character, with peaceful glades and airy resting points at every turn. That's before you even go inside! Interior is full of character and charm, with quality soft furnishings and great facilities. Our room had a bath AND a shower, a very welcome full length mirror, a place to sit and do your make up and a little veranda - the bed was huge and comfy, and the room was spacious and full of charm. There were robes too !!
Maybe a more budget friendly menu for an evening meal - we absolutely loved our meal, but might be nice to also offer a less fancy menu for those who just want some simple hearty pub style food.

Fabulous welcome! The manager kindly showed us the facilities and gave us a brief history of this historic hotel and lake. All meals were delicious and the views nothing short of spectacular!
Like all beautiful older hotels there are no lifts, but we were knew this when we booked. The views more than make up for this though.

Nothing all was fantastic

One of our most pleasant stays.
Stunning location and view.
Old-world charm.
Restaurant layout with many tables having a great view down the lake.
Difficult to be at all critical but there was no fridge in our room which was non-lake facing - I think a number of better rooms may have fridges.

All the staff I spoke to were lovely. The food was amazing and the rooms were spotless with comfy beds!
Creaky floor boards outside the room which was a bit annoying in the morning with people walking past as it would make a loud noise

Fabulous hotel in beautiful surroundings

View excellent. Breakfast v good.
Toilet seat small and low.

Gorgeous location. Plenty of seating inside and out overlooking the view of the lake. Breakfast was amazing and plentiful and staff were lovely. Great selection .of tea /coffee in room as well as water and juice sachets.
Room was a bit dated and although it had a lovely double shower grout was falling out in places and black in parts so could do with a re grout to feel clean. Sink was really slow to drain away too.
4.3
Hotel location and dinner, breakfast was excellent
Staff too in your face and extremely old fashioned manor. Also the draught lager was awful.

Our room with a lake view had the most amazing outlook with an uninterrupted view of the lake surrounded by dramatic mountains. There was very little noise from the road throughout our stay and it was lovely to be woken in the mornings by the dawn chorus. The staff were charming, breakfasts were delicious, eggs perfectly cooked, and we even enjoyed a few hours in the hotel spa.
We’ll definitely come back 😊
The only thing we were a little disappointed to find was that the gym was out of action, but we’re told it was just a temporary state of affairs.

The location was excellent. The view from our room was an ever changing picture depending on the light and weather conditions. The daytime sounds from our balcony of springtime birds and distant lambs was delightful and the total silence at night was notable as was the nighttime sky showing so many stars.
We struggled to walk to and from our room with our elderly knees, though the staff were happy to help with luggage. I’m sure there would be other room options if we were to stay again. Accessibility to a small lift would have been a relief, or even somewhere to rest for a moment in the corridor would have helped.

First class hotel in wonderful location.

The view and location. Superb for walking right from the hotel onto the mountain. The dam and lake are fascinating.
