The pub is lovely and very large, was surprised how quiet it was for bank holiday. staff are freindly. the car park is a tight squeeze to say the least when full. we arrived at 3.30 and took the last space. the sunday dinner was beautiful ten out of ten. the room was ok, clean and did what it needed, bit dark but thats just the building i paid 144 for one night b and b which i do think was quite pricey really as it included breakfast but the cooked breakfast was poor. maybe worth around 114 - 124.
the breakfast was terrible :( which i hate to say as the sunday dinner was one of the best i have had, don't think it can of been the same chef. we waited over 40 minutes for our cooked breakfast and when it came they had run out of beans - the breakfast was presented badly and becuase of the lack of beans the sausgage poached egg and hasbrown had moved all over the plate so it looked shocking. we didn't eat it. there was toast and small croissants and greek yogurt with dried fruit as well as tea and cofffee which were nice though.

The hotel was a real 'Inn'. The room was clean, large and well-equipped and the staff were very friendly. They happily stored our luggage for us after we had checked out.
The hotel is a fair - but beautiful - walk from the University if one is staying there to visit the campus.
My only real complaint about the hotel was that I especially booked a room with a double bed and a sleeper couch for my daughter and I, but only the double bed was made up.

Central location.
Very slow service for evening meal.
The deal for a free drink as a reward for not changing towels etc was not fully honoured. There was no mention of having to hand in the card the night before the next day’s evening meal. The card simply said to hand it over before the mea.

Stephen.
Non smiling manager when we arrived who asked us to pay up front( first time that we have ever encountered this?) £467 bed and breakfast!
Tiny room with 4ft 6in bed with hard uncomfortable mattress.
Our evening meal on the first night was a total disaster. It took 1 hour 20 minutes to arrive after our order was placed and when it arrived it was cold?
Needless to say we ate out the 2nd night in Durham.
Thankfully when Stephen arrived and took control all changed and our trust was restored.
We ate in on our final night and all was well.

Very convenient for Railway Station, quietly situated next to a Nature Reserve. Felt like being right out in the countryside, yet a short walk into the city.
My single room was very comfortable - much more than the tiny cupboard that a lot of hotels offer as singles.
Extremely long wait to be served breakfast, which for the price was underwhelming.

great location, bar was good and staff friendly
bedroom felt dated and small, not the comfiest bed for the money.

It was near to the hospital where I had an appointment
My room was at the back outside the kitchen. It was noisy as the air conditioning for kitchen went until around 9pm. There was a light right outside the window and the TV didn't work
