Perfect spot to enjoy rural Dorset. Watch out for tractors!

A traditional English country hotel with garden of glorious flowers, pond and mature trees. Reception was efficient at check in and check out. Bar service was particularly good, with nice cocktails. Lots of comfy sofas downstairs to relax with a book, and seating outside to enjoy the summer. You are in the heart of the country with a quiet Dorset village with post office and pub just a few steps outside the side entrance. Highlight was a lovely walk through fields and around the grounds of Melbury House and Estate.

We enjoyed using the swimming pool which was a reasonable size and well heated within an attractive glass conservatory. The limited exercise equipment within a small space overlooking the pool was the right equipment and adequate. But the area around the pool, and around the decorative water feature was in need of someone to scrupulously oversee cleanliness.

Very professional and attentive service. Lovely quiet location. Food at the Acorn Inn was exceptional. Lovely spa.

A great relaxing and comfortable 5* stay.

It’s beautiful, classical architecture, with an extension designed by ‘the’ Thomas Hardy, an Architect by profession. Lovely grounds and indoor heated Pool area. A very comfortable room. Lovely food. Friendly helpful staff. Very good.

Minor but the shower screen was rather in effective and allowed water onto the bathroom floor, slippy and too much so we had to mop it with our towels.

Beautiful place to stay, room was enormous and very clean.

Staff incredibly attentive, very accommodating and room upgraded when we arrived. Grounds are beautiful and fitness centre was small but well equipped.

Bit expensive on the food front, (cream tea £17)

the is the best hotel I've ever stayed at; they couldn't have done more to make us feel important

it was out of the way in a beautiful village; there is a deer park a walk away. the service was exceptional - you felt like the only guest. a wonderful wine list and really great a la carte menu for breakfast and dinner. the room was fantastic with great views of the gardens which are well tended and lovely

I can't think of anything negative - very much a 5 star location

Beautiful surroundings, attentive but not intrusive staff, professional at all times and so nice to see they were also smartly dressed befitting this type of establishment. Welcoming on arrival, tasty Sunday lunch, comfortable room, clean and relaxing spa facilities. Superb breakfast! We are fortunate to live locally and this is always our go to destination for that something special! We will return, hopefully soon!

A luxurious afternoon tea and overnight stay.

It was in a quiet location, not too far from the main roads. The room was luxurious and very comfortable.

Parking was a bit tight when we arrived, but we found somewhere.,

Beautiful hotel

The rooms are in little cottages in beautiful grounds. Spotlessly clean, warm and huge bathroom. Bar, lounge and dining room all very comfortable and very pretty decorations as it’s Xmas. Grounds all lit up for Xmas. It must be even nicer in the summer.

A gem of a hotel. wish we had booked for longer

The room was cosy and beautifully decorated. Generous treats in the room including a cafetière , so much nicer than a machine…. The staff were superb , so professional and helpful.

This was a perfect venue for a multi generational stay including a celebration dinner

The breakfast was delicious. We were a party of 15 and everyone ordered items from the full English Breakfast Menu and all were cooked to perfection. We loved the garden, the relaxed English style and the amazing attention to detail. The food, bedrooms and spa were all of the highest standard.
