Cleanliness, friendly host and nice location

The location was perfect for getting the esplanade & the rooms were homy, clean, and comfortable. The staff are absolutely wonderful and are extremely helpful, not to mention kind and conversational. The breakfast was phenomenal!
We stayed for eight days and don’t have any complaints! The stairs going up to the rooms may be a concern for some, but they’re manageable for sure.

The beach is only a short walk from "The Avenue" Shops, Bars and restaurants are situated locally too. "The Avenue" is run by a Father and his Son team. Both are very pleasant, good listeners and always available to assist you if any thing is needed. Price includes a breakfast. There is a buffet of breakfast for a starter if you like, followed by the main event a cooked English Breakfast. Which is to die for. The scrambled eggs are amazing and the sausages are full of flavour and very juicy. The quality and taste was consistent and beautiful every day. This was large and will keep you going all day if needed. There is a honesty bar where you help yourself and leave your room number with the items taken, consumed. There is also limited free parking on site.
I have no complaints regarding my stay at "The Avenue", except that our break came to an end and we had too leave!

The proprietors were excellent. They provided us with helpful information. Keen for us to enjoy our stay.
The Breakfast was excellent, must say one of the Best ever Full English I’ve ever tasted. Really good quality food, no rubbish, plus a lovely fresh fruit salad that wasn’t out of a tin !!
If I had a little moan, the only thing was the shower a tad small , not a lot of room to move in however overall I would definitely recommend this B&B.
The shower could have been a little bigger, more room needed for certain people. Apart from that it was all fine.

Stayed here for 4 nights whilst visiting Isle of Wight - great hotel with very welcoming hosts (father and son team, Simon and Jonathan). They made sure that our stay was as comfortable as possible. The English breakfast they made was delicious and they provided vegetarian sausages as well as a variety of different milk options for coffee. Great location too - a quiet street not too far from the sea front. They also have a large driveway that can accommodate 5 cars.

The hosts were very friendly and informative. The room was clean and the tea and coffee sachets were replenished daily. The breakfast was excellent, I do recommend the poach eggs, perfect.

The Room was clean, nicely decorated and adequate for our needs. The bathroom was quite up to date and the shower worked well. Bed was comfortable too.
Only negative is that the walls are rather thin and you can sometimes hear the other guests.

Our second visit to The Avenue but a full weeks stay this time. We loved every minute of our stay. Simon makes the most amazing breakfasts and Jonathan is a fantastic people person managing breakfast service and billing. A great team who cannot do enough for you during your stay. The honesty bar is a lovely space and we enjoyed the biltong too.
Nothing we did not like

This is the second time we chose to stay that The Avenue because it’s a really lovely B&B. The staff (Father and Son) can’t do enough for you. They are so polite and friendly. They always cater to our vegan diet on request. There is a well stocked honesty bar. Location is good and facilities are clean and tidy!
Nothing not to like. Would be good to have a little fridge in the room but they were happy to put our bits in their fridge ☺️

First time we have taken a holiday in the uk for 30 years and were very happy with our choice . Simon and Jonathan are perfect hosts taking time to chat and engage with their guests. Our room was bright and airy with a lovely big bathroom and the linen clean and of good quality. Breakfast was excellent with a full range of choice . There is an honesty bar which is well stocked and a comfortable lounge with a TV. We would like to thank Simon and Jonathan for an excellent experience and hope to stay again sometime in the future.

The staff were exceptional. Very seldom does one find service like this in a guesthouse. Simon and his son Jonathan are to be commended as hosts of this lovely place. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and nothing was too much trouble for them.

Simon and Johnathan were both very welcoming and friendly! The hotel was very clean, modern and homely. Our room was decorated lovely and had a nice big shower, the bed was also extremely comfortable and we both slept very well both nights!! Breakfast was delicious both mornings and definitely the best scrambled eggs i have ever tasted!! Honesty bar was a really nice touch! If we ever returned to the Isle of Wight, we would not hesitate to book here again! Thanks so much :)) x

Close to the Beach, 10 mins downhill and buses and Shanklin train station both literally 5 mins round the corner
Friendly well informed Father and Son who run the place
Superb three course Breakfast included, freshly made fruit cocktail to start, poached eggs and the very best coffee, Simon is a great cook and takes pride in the food he serves which makes for a scrummy breakie!
Good value for money due to the breakfast, has a very clean bathroom, loved the power shower
Pretty Conservatory and spacious dining area
The honesty bar...I rediscovered Amurula ;))
A decent Chinese takeaway is also close as no evening meals are served at The Avenue - the King Prawns are amazing, huge portions too!
This was a superb three day break just what I needed having had to cancel my holidays abroad due to Covid. Just do it book it!!
