Even though the staff was clearly poorly trained to serve at a “luxury”resort, they were nice in their interactions
Extremely misleading advertising of the resort on Booking. It lacks any luxury aspect nor does it ever mention that it is a wildlife sanctuary. It obviously can’t be considered something “negative”, but it needs to be properly communicated, as there as bats and all other forms of wildlife roaming around the resort. Some guests may not want to experience this during their so called “luxurious” stay
Villas by the beach are outdated and showing severe signs of wear and tear. Water pressure was nonexistent in the villa we initially moved in to, as well as having a creaky floor with a main door that was broken at the bottom.
We requested to be moved a more modern type of accommodation and we were first told that it wouldn’t be possible (even though the website clearly showed availability throughout our stay). After confronting the guest services team with this information, we were told that they could move us to a different room, but only for one night and thereafter we would have to switch rooms another 2 times due to constraints in room availability. Again, after more pressuring we were then told that indeed there would be a room available for the rest of our stay without the need to move. The question becomes why did we have such poor service when our ask could have been accommodated from the start? This new room type was 15% cheaper in total than our initial Vila, and after many conversations with staff and even asking for the manager, we were never compensated nor offered an adjustment.
The food at the restaurant was quite lackluster and expensive for Philippines standards, and at night the staff would try to enforce the “evening themed menu” instead of allowing us to order from the normal menu.
The common areas were quite dirty most of times, and the beach chairs spread across the resort were not cleaned not even once in the 3 nights we were there, with clear dirtiness built up over time coupled with animal feces that was already intertwined with the chairs.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Club Paradise! The beach and coral reefs are incredible and are the stand out this hotel. Another unexpected highlight of this stay was the huge monitor lizards all over the property - they even like to join you for breakfast 😆 Would recommend staying here if you’re ok with basic facilities and it not being in a luxury resort. Enjoy the beautiful surrounds and lap up the incredible sunset.
Here are some other key takeaways:
- Fantastic staff with a huge shout out to the F&B team of Grace, Shaun and Meriele (by the pool)
- Fantastic diving with the team at the resort
- Stayed in a new wing which was really nice
- Food/drinks are relatively cheap for an island resort
- Focus on sustainability and reef preservation
- Incredible wildlife in the reefs surrounding the hotel. Loved seeing turtles everyday 😍
- The garden room they put us in initially had black mould all around the ceiling. Having said that, they moved us as soon as we complained about it. It didn’t seem like an unknown issue to staff which was concerning
- Common areas and pathways around the resort are quite dated/tired but this is completely outweighed by the beauty of the natural environment.
- Staff around the pool are on island time re drink orders. Totally fine but something to be aware of

Highly disappointing experience.
We stayed 5 nights (far too long and a waste of money).
I am so confused that this hotel has won so many awards (apparently)...
Let's start with the positive:
- Stunning island, as highlighted by many other reviews. It is gorgeous and the nature around it is beautiful
- Aircon in our Garden Room was exceptional
- Food got better during the stay, day by day
- The lounges by the pool are comfortable
- Daily treats and snacks delivered to your room
- Management of the arrival/departure transfers was very good
------
What did not go well?
- The check in reception is absolutely terrible. The welcome drink, served by a miserable bar-lady, was warm and unappetizing
- The reception area is extremely hot and uncomfortable
- Our room was not ready, so we waited, and even after check in hour, it was still not ready until we made a fuss.
- Service is, overall, terrible! Yes, most of the staff are friendly once you interact with them, but it feels like this property is being run and managed by students who have zero training on customer experience or etiquette. There is no attention to you at all. Bar service at the pool is essentially non-existent, you have to wave someone down to order anything. Service at the restaurant is just as horrific. When eventually you flag someone down to take you order, they eventually bring it and disappear. No clearance of plates of glasses, no offering of additional drinks or desert - complete neglect for a hotel that seems to think they are of hight standard.
- The breakfast is mediocre. The egg station is a mess with one, sometimes two (if you are lucky) people trying to accommodate everyone's orders. They run out of water/juice glasses often. Tables are dirty, there is no welcome host, you navigate your way to try find an empty table....very 3* or less experience
- We booked two tours:
A) Island Hopping: Was beautiful nature and Noelle and team did a great job. But there was zero communication from reception on where to meet to start the tour, what was included etc. When we questioned the reception, they were clueless on how to manage us and advise accordingly
B) Sunset Cruise: Waste of money. Zero value - don't do this. The boat is not conducive to the experience
- Housekeeping is slow. Often our room was only cleaned after 2pm or 3pm in the afternoon
- Wifi is terrible or non-existent in the rooms. There is basically no cellphone reception on the island.
- The spa is basic, 3* standard.

Unique and luxury experience. Lovely island, amazing coral reefs just 10 meters from the beach. The bed was the biggest I’ve ever seen in a hotel.
Breakfasts are great. The restaurant is also mainly great, though some positions like pizza are much worse in quality and taste than other dishes.
Lots of things to do on an island and also several tours available.
Would definitely come back again and already recommended to many of our friends.
We never had a welcome foot wash after 3 reminders.

Highly recommend - very family friendly
We were with a 6 and 4 years old and everyone loved it there
Activities are a bit too pricy

Incredible island resort. Amazing location. Beautiful rooms. Perfect place for island relaxation holiday.
Food and drinks (cocktails) we’re a bit hit and miss.
4.3
great location, service is top notch, quiet, and brings you pretty close to nature. the island is beautiful with perfect emerald waters despite the sun not fully showing up! the villa is lux and we get to enjoy a free foot spa!
not like is a strong word, the food taste could be better. don't get me wrong it is still good

This is an incredible little piece of paradise. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would definitely recommend to family and friends and we will happily return and look forward to it. The snorkelling was so much fun and there was so much to see. The food was very tasty and the service was very friendly. We loved being able to relax and have lunch on the beech and Gerrick (definitely spelt incorrectly) was exceptional who worked at the Dugong bar. We also had room service one of the nights and that was also a great option and a nice touch. Overall we can’t fault our stay.
My only issue was with the time it took to return the deposit held on my card at the start of our stay. I was emailing them 3 weeks after to see when this money would be returned to my card. I think this needs to be improved as we have never stayed anywhere else where this wasn’t done immediately.

I went to Club Paradise for a quick getaway for my birthday and it doesn’t disappoint me, the place is indeed a paradise. I booked the sunset villa and it has 2 double beds and 1 super single bed and the room was nice and clean. I like the tranquility of the island, the cyan color of the water and white sand. All the staffs are nice and accomodating and the service is worth a 5 star, can’t wait to be back.

We were welcomed by staff as soon as we arrived at the airport. The shuttle bus was smooth (even on the rather bumpy dirt track), and the traditional boat led us down a beautiful river surrounded by mangroves before opening up to the sea. We were provided with a welcome bracelet, packet of cookies and some water. It truly was a special start to the trip!
When we arrived we were met with staff handing us cold towels by the beach and then again with welcome drinks by the check in desk. We were made to feel welcome immediately. We were swiftly checked in, and taken to our room. The Garden view rooms are lovely from the inside. The furnishings are very modern. They provide AC and a dehumidifier, which is very handy during monsoon season. The cleaners come every day and provide you with different local delicacies, which is such a nice touch.
The absolute best thing about the island is the beach! The sand is almost white and the water is crystal clear. It has an amazing house reef that is protected by flags and lifeguards that direct swimmers to a specified swimming spot so that they don’t damage the reef.
The Garden View room balcony’s are unpleasant. The smell from the body of water located directly opposite it comes and goes but it is awful. The amount of mosquitoes it harbours makes sitting outside impossible. Drying clothes outside it also not an option as it does not get any sun. If I returned, I would only book a sea view room in future.
The phone inside the room also did not work, so we had to rely on WhatsApp for communication with the front desk.
The price of food is rather high for the area. I understand it is a monopoly and that food needs to be transported from the mainland, but our food bill was as expensive as our room (a cost we didn’t expect coming into this holiday). Again, I understand why, but perhaps it needs to be made more clear to guests before they stay (a sample menu on the site would have been really helpful, for example). They could also really do with adding some bird repelling spikes onto the exposed beams. My partner was unfortunate enough to be sitting underneath a bird while it did its business during breakfast on our last day.
The biggest area for improvement would have to be the front desk. When we arrived we informed them that we would like to extend our stay for a night as our original flight had been cancelled, and they assured us that it wouldn’t be a problem and amended our booking form with ‘request for extension’. On the night before our original check out day, a member of staff came to our table to ask what time we were leaving the next day. We reminded her that we had requested an extension and that it should be on our booking form, but she seemed surprised by this. We heard nothing more after that, so we assumed it had been resolved. The next afternoon (about 5pm), my partner received a WhatsApp message requesting that we come to the front desk to confirm our extension. When we arrived they quoted us a rate that was 1/3 price more than what Booking.

Service was great
There was problem with the drainage. The bathrooms in the room and my the pool smelled bad (like pee) all the time

Do it, book this hotel (source: we've been to 100+ beach accomodations and this is among the top).
4.3
The hotel is AMAZING. the jurney from the moment we landed to the airport all the way to our room in this private island was superb. you have coral reefs, manaties, fish, turtles and all sorts of marine life just a couple of meters away from the beach. We took diving lessons there and it was amazing but you can also snorkel for free and it is totally worth it. one of the best experiences ever
the room was too small, our baggage didn’t fit and it made it uncomfortable but other than that, everything was top notch
4.3
Impeccable customer service and cleanliness and of course the serenity and relaxation that we experience just being in the island.
The breakfast buffet, was just OK. We expected more for the price that we paid for the whole stay.
4.3
the privacy it provided for our family to enjoy some peace and quiet
we had to wait for a very long time to be checked in. also, the rooms we paid for were not available. we were upgraded to a bigger room but it was very isolated, we had to walk to reach the beachfront and restaurant.
hence we chose a smaller villa just to be on the beach front
4.3
The location and clarity of water and the sunsets were amazing.
-Lack of water ams so we couldn't bathe after a day on the beach.
-Power outage for 3 hours everyday and hence sitting in the heat in midday sun with ac or fan
- the pool was not clean and hence we couldn't use it for our 5 day stay.
- the kids pool , whixh was the only pool in use, had hot water! So no cool pool to jump into in the heat
4.3
stunning island with an incredible beach and local wildlife. watching the fruit bat colony at sunset was amazing. staff work hard to look after guests. although the room was somewhat old fashioned, we found it to be very comfortable. resort transfers were excellent and it was great that no plastic bottles were seen anywhere on the island for drinking water - free water refill points around.
the food quality could be improved. breakfast buffet needs refilling more regularly as some items ran out at times.
4.3
all in one
no free transportation from the resort to the closest port at least.

Friendly staff, good to discharge from city life

We had an amazing experience, a few things we liked:
The island is stunning with lots of cool biodiversity
Amazing snorkeling just a few metres off the beach
Staff were lovely
Lots of free water everywhere (in glass bottles)!
Very affordable for an isolated island
The only niggle was the pre arrival comms was poor, kept sending the same generic email asking for details even though I sent them, and ignored my 4 attempts to ask for a transfer confirmation, had to call (and it was fine, they just didn't respond for some reason)
4.3
almost everything
floorings going to our room
4.3
The very attentive, very courteous staff. The beautiful island, which is not crowded. Eco friendliness.
We meet a rat in the restaurant.
4.3
Breakfast was ok
If they communicated well with their guest (us) and DO NOT HAVE ANY HIDDEN CHARGES then our overall stay could have been amazing. Can you imagine the embarrassment we have to go through when the boat turned around and demanded us to pay. We paid in FULL prior to our arrival. They HAVE my card info when we checked-in. They held us HOSTAGE and not let us leave the island if I don't pay the DECEPTIVE CHARGES they demanded.
4.3
Everything about this resort is special: the people, food, the location, diving experience, massage.
To see the fox bat's and the lizards so close was magical too.
Ed was also very friendly.
It's a must visit hotel resort.
4.3

nothing
4.3
the location, pristine beaches, corals, turn down service with creative towels and snacks.
the staff didn’t seem to know what they’re doing and did not communicate well. at the restaurant cutleries were not clean. in the room the cups were not clean. there was also a cockroach. molitor lizards and birds are disturbing the breakfast while staff stays idle. really not worth the high price we paid. we also were informed of a « mandatory » buffet dinner and didn’t know we could actually eat a la carte before dinner. overall very unsatisfactory on the hotel itself.
