The whole experience from start to finish was exactly what we were looking for. Such an authentic and unique experience.

Extraordinary historical hotel

Breakfast was phenomenal. Toured the hotel and loved learning its history. Staff know you and are ready to help in any way. Plenty to see as soon as you walk out the door but also a pleasure to spend time in the room.
When you come in after a few hours out and are sweating like crazy, you want to take a dip. The pool is nothing special and small and the only disappointment.

The breakfast was so good!

Beautiful, lovely staff, excellent service
Tour groups could be a bit intrusive
4.5
Unique and relaxt atmosphere.
The noice early evening from the food market.

The history behind the house and the man who built it. The guided tour by Terry was entertaining, insightful and help to connect our stay more meaningful with the man who built it. Good water pressure. A super king size bed - the biggest I have had for a mattress.
Manual big heavy key is hard to lock the room door as you need to insert rightly and turn rightly before it can be locked.

Excellent team at the hotel and Indigo restaurant. The bar to have a cocktail or coffee is good too. Food at the restaurant is great with lots of options. The mansion itself is magical with many beautiful details and very cozy. Breakfast is also recommendable.
You miss a window in the room but not a big deal

Great location. Beautiful building, friendly staff. Real cultural delight.
Pool is small and not many loungers but it's not really a place for sunbathing much

Probably the coolest place I've ever stayed. We stayed in the Zhang Townhouse, which isn't actually at the mansion (about a 10 minute walk), but we thought the townhouse location was better, and the room (over 2 floors) was enormous.
They supplied a very good cot for our 1 year old, and she enjoyed exploring the room. We also made use of the kitchenette to make her food.
We stayed three nights in the townhouse and then one night at the mansion to finish our stay with the hotel. Overall, we preferred the townhouse, but also thought it was fun to get both experiences.
Breakfast was also quite good, I especially liked the roti canai and pancakes.
Just a note on the townhouse, only the bedroom / lounge room area is air conditioned, the other areas use good ceiling fans. We had no problem with this at all, but someone might find that helpful.

Location, staff and the building itself. Perfect.

Staying here is a most original experience especially if you are treating yourself and do not often stay in high end hotels. You are given discreet and polite attention by the staff, the facilities are very good indeed and the cultural and historic ambience of the hotel gives it a special charm.
The room was spacious and quite beautiful, the breakfast was very good indeed. The lady at the gift shop should be promoted to general manager: she makes you feel so welcome and special.
At times you feel like you have slipped back 100 years and are walking the corridors in a more genteel era. If' like myself, you are giving yourself or your partner a special treat, then you can rely on the Blue Mansion to leave you with a cache of good memories.
Only that I had made my stay longer.

It far exceeded my expectations - the mansion has so much history and is gorgeous. The room is spacious, air conditioned, attractive. The staff bring you an amazing little edible surprise at night in a bamboo steamer with a message inscribed on a leaf. Would stay here in a heartbeat.
The breakfast was good but not great there are so many amazing breakfast options in the area - dim sum, idlis, et ) that after the second day, we had coffee and juice for breakfast and then went somewhere with less touristy food for breakfast.

Fantastic place to stay. Great ambience, friendly and helpful staff and stunning architecture.

Wonderful ambience makes for a great way to spend your time. The authenticity of the place made for a delightful stay as well as a unique experience. Being surrounded by great architecture and jaw dropping interiors ensure you great memories. The staff were beyond delightful in an easy manner guaranteed to make you comfortable.
Room sizes are impressive and are maintained and replenished regularly. Attention to small details add so much to your visit - dressing gowns and sarongs, really good range of toiletries, ear plugs, coffee machine, ironing board, pool towels changed every day and steamed sweets are brought to your room (with personal message) on your return in the afternoon. Breakfasts are good and include a Western style buffet, set menu and a full Asian buffet set around the central indoor courtyard.
Depending where your room is, then you need to be out or under cover when the guided tours take place. These provide much needed finance to maintain this historic building. However, it fails to stop the tourists stepping over no entry signs and gawping at you as they take their photos.

UNESCO site with lots of history. I liked the space.
some folks were running upstairs and could be heard downstairs

The location was fantastic. The property was spotless and staff couldn’t be more helpful if they tried. Loved the complimentary biscuits afternoon sweets delivered to the room
The pool area is a little small if you like to relax by the pool. I couldn’t only 5 sun loungers. The pool itself is more for paddling than swimming.

The ambience, feels like I'm staying in 1800. The mansion was gorgeous. The room was perfect and when I check in the mansion, it was pretty hot day outside and they made the room super cosy and cool. We even had a nyonya kueh delivered to our room!! Thanks CFT team..Excellent service and memorable for us. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Breakfast could be better. Orange juice poor. Need choice of jams, cheese etc. Pool area not great.

Good breakfast with nice service.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful.
3.5
Rare and unusual.
It needs some capital improvements, the staff are overworked, and it’s very loud.
The toilet in our suite was leaking. The building in crumbling/paint-chipped on outside. The pool is dingy and next to a loud bus transfer station that fills the area with diesel fuel smell.
The bar tender was overworked and pissed off.
it was loud with tours and the tiger food market next door.

There is absolutely nothing not to like about our stay at the Blue Mansion!
Two friends and I enjoyed a truly excellent stay in 2 Ming Rooms (Lean Hwa and Escoy) for 1 night on the ground floor with individual access to the garden and pool. (Escoy has a lavish, intricate gold-painted wooden screen behind the bed which features in the Ming Room promotional photography.) The rooms are as beautiful as advertised. Elegant & tasteful decor, spacious, quiet, and with thoughtful & thorough room service, all within a stunning and unique setting of the historic mansion.
Check-in was smooth, friendly and professional in the front hall. At reception we were served chilled nutmeg juice - a welcome refreshment in the high January heat, and pleasant greeting gesture.
The lap pool provides a decent if small place to cool down in the Penang heat. It is set on a raised dias in the secluded walled side garden. Due to its design and size, it can feel crowded with a mere three guests poolside. However as we didn't book our stay to spend much time at the pool, this was not a big disappointment for us.
The bar was headed by the excellent Ali - an affable, professional & a talented mixologist. We very much enjoyed the bar's calm & intimate setting for happy hour cocktails and wine. Adding to the ambiance in the central courtyard was the moving live music of a skilled Guzheng player - an unique experience perfectly suited to the beautiful environs of the mansion.
Breakfast was likewise an intimate and well-provisioned experience, with a continental & local buffet, plus a fine selection of a la carte dishes, European-style coffee and teas.
Check-out was easy, with the welcome addition of our being able to leave our luggage, ticketed and secure, for collection later in the day. Reception staff are efficient, accommodating and polite.

It is a historic heritage site itself, conformable, clean and welcoming. And it is also whitin the walking distance to the old town center.

Beautiful old property. Lots of history. Big rooms. Excellent staff.
Wish there was more variety for breakfast, which was good.
4.5
The buffet breakfast!!!!! The AMBIANCE. OMG THE JACUZZI IN THE ROOM.
The room tv only had 11 CHANNELS like seriously??? - no english news channel at all too.
