Lovely building with lots of character. Rooms are in keeping with the style of the building but are modern and the facilities were really good. the service was absolutely first class. Best place I’ve stayed in a long time.

on arrival we were welcomed to the property by Alex. nothing was to much travel and made us feel very relaxed.
the bar area is fantastic with a welcome warming log fire and the quality of ales/cocktails on offer were excellent especially the Negroni 🤪
the best was yet to come as we had booked into the restaurant for the evening on recommendation from friends. the chef must be kept under lock and key so that he doesn’t get poached away to other high flying restaurants suffice to say he’s skills in the kitchen were stunning the food was some of the best I’ve had and I travel a lot.
we will definitely be back very soon .
a big thank you to Alex and his team.

Absolutely nothing
4.1
The room quiet and comfortable
The breakfast was very disappointing the bacon was dry tasteless my partner had the full english and never ate much of the food
The Sunday lunch choice considering the weather was very limited
Considering the costs of the accommodation certainly not value for money and could have stayed in a top hotel in Cambridge for similar money

Large bed and quiet setting
The pub wasn’t open and there was nobody to greet me when I arrived. Instead I walked around the building to see if there was another door/reception and on arriving back at the front door I noticed a homemade/stapled pieces of paper envelope on the floor outside that contained my key. On the paper was writing with my name spelt incorrectly and informing me which room I was in (separate buildings) which I then had to find myself.
The pub was closed which I assumed was just for food prior to arrival as they’d informed me they were short staffed and closed for dining on Tuesdays so I was unsure what to do for breakfast, or I’d even get any as the guest services book in the room stated they were closed for breakfast on Wednesday’s.
At 9:20pm Tues night (night of stay) I received a text asking what time I would like breakfast, from 7:30am but the later the better as the team would appreciate it. I had to leave by 8 so said 7:30.
The toilet had to be flushed twice after every use to stop it filling and the shower took around 5minutes to heat up.
Breakfast in the morning was tasty bu sparse for a full English and as I was the only guest, I felt as though I was an inconvenience to the staff.

Food was excellent. Staff very friendly. The room was a little on the cool side but eventually warmed up. Walls are very thin and can hear other guests. When offering tea, coffee and biscuits there has to be enough for the guests that are staying. Sharing a bottle of water meant for one isn’t amazing. Just the little things matter. At a £159 a night after experiencing the room etc I think this is rather overly priced tbh. It’s a box room.

Oldy worldy with old beams etc
Outside needed sprucing and outside spaces needed some TLC
