Great little hotel for a train excursion to Machu Picchu

This is the perfect spot for any train enthusiast. The hotel is directly on the train platform in Ollantaytambo which makes for an easy day excursion to Machu Picchu. We also enjoyed the restaurant which serves refined, quality food. The property also has an organic farm with guinea pigs, cows, produce, a coffee roastery, and distillery. There is a dirt pedestrian pathway from the property to the center of town which takes about 10-15 minutes to walk.

Our room could have used an update. The bathroom, interior door, and window coverings could have been better.

Alucinante. Caminar por toda la propiedad fue muy agradable. Descubrimos la vista hacia los nevados desde la huerta.

Un lugar alucinante por su localización.

La habitación contra la linea del tren hacía que el ruido fuera alto. Al otro dia nos dimos cuenta que hay muchas habitaciones hacia el fondo de la propiedad.

Barulho insuportável dos trens e janelas que tremem

O Hotel é muito charmoso e tem uma proposta verde muito legal, mas nossa experiência foi ruim por conta do barulho da via férrea, que está colada ao hotel. A equipe, apesar de ser um pouco atrapalhada e lenta nas tomadas de decisão, se mostrou solicita e compreensiva, resolvendo nosso caso com o estorno do nosso pagamento e indicando outro hotel na cidade para nos hospedarmos.

O quarto que nos disponibilizaram (nº 3) ficava colado a linha do trem, e a cada vez que um comboio passava, as janelas e o chão tremiam e faziam um barulho insuportável. Nos disponibilizaram protetores auriculares para que o incomodo fosse menor, mas além de desconfortável, essa solução não foi eficiente. Precisamos procurar por um outro hotel.

Very nice stay, large rooms.

The room was large, quiet, comfortable and warm. The love the heater, it kept was warm at night and not too hot. Breakfast was buffet but you ordered your eggs to your liking. The staff were wonderful and very helpful.

It was far from the plaza so most of the restaurants were also far away. It was a little noisy from the trains.

We loved staying El Alnergue and can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful ecologically friendly inn with a great location next to the train station that has it’s own adjacent organic farm that provides for a true farm to table experience in their restaurant. The staff is wonderful and Helen at front desk was so welcoming and helpful… made us feel special and even gave us a tour of the farm and surrounding area. The room was so comfortable and charming… we loved the great views of the garden!

Incredible location, charming property & Amazing staff

Location, location, location! Add friendly and helpful staff, spacious and comfortable rooms, and charming gardens - making this an absolutely incredible place. This hotel is inside the train station. A 6 feet walk from the front door to the train to Machu Picchu!

El Albergue is a beautiful inn with good food, very comfortable rooms and quiet.

Artistically lovely old inn with tranquil garden. It is by the train station but we never heard any train noise - ask for a room overlooking the garden just in case. We ate our breakfast, which had a lot of choices and was served, outside in the garden. Nice experience. Staff was very helpful. Easy access to train to Aguas Caliente (Macchu Picchu). Hotel arranged for us to be picked up from Cuzco airport to be transported by the hotel. Nice benefit.

We stayed in garden casita which overlooks the garden. It is a beautiful little house but we had trouble locking the front door gate.

rustic property right on the rail station with a gorgeous 360 view of the mountains. it has an attached restaurant and also serves basic breakfast buffet. thoroughly enjoyed my one night stay here. would recommend.

Total perfection. Dreaming of coming back.

Everything! The gardens were stunning, the staff were helpful, and the rooms were clean. It was even more beautiful than in the pictures. We loved the panchamanca and exploring the distillery. Would definitely come back.

The shower temperature was inconsistent. However, this seems to be a common issue in Ollanta and not the hotel’s fault.

Rooms are spacious and clean. Shower was nice with good hot water and water pressure.

My room was right by the trains so the trains kept me up at night so may need earplugs!
