The Sapana Village Lodge is as much an idea as a resort. It is based around a philosophy of changing the local environment by diverting profits to create schools, building a village for a disadvantaged caste that was deeply affected by floods and creating social empowerment programs. If that's not enough they have organic gardens, support an industry making smokeless stoves and have a refuge for old and/or infirm elephants. I have never experienced anything like it. Aside from this, the food is great, the staff are brilliant, the resort is peaceful, the architecture superb and the rooms are excellent.
A dollar spent here spins around the community bringing work, opportunity and education to the district of Chitwan. This is an amazing initiative and a treasure in the tourism industry of Nepal.
Nothing. The place is unique and inspirational.

Autre point : le check out.

We had an amazing time and felt like at home at Sapana Lodge. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The location is great and we could see the elephants just from the hotel terrace. The food is super tasty and fresh. The hotel offers lots of activities, and we tried walking tour and jeep safari, and we could spot many animals during the tour. The atmosphere is so relaxing and peaceful, would love to stay longer.

A gem of a hotel. The staff, the facilities, the room, the food. Without a doubt, the experience in Chitwan would have been different if we had not booked the Sapana Village. Best of all is the development project and sustainability programs they have. We did the Safari directly with them, all well explained and guided and we were lucky to see even a Tiger.
We will miss this stay very much! Thanks to all the staff of the hotel!!

For me, Sapana Lodge is one of the best places I've spent my vacation. People and animals, local cuisine, everything absolutely perfect. Thanks for the great experiences and information. The elephants are in good hands here. Best place to stay in Chitwan!

beautiful setting, within 10 minutes we saw a Rhino grazing and two elephants bathing. The staff are also so lovely and we didn’t want for anything.
No problems!

Enjoyed my stay at Sapana. Came here in hopes of seeing Rhinos and the Safari didn’t disappoint. I opted for a private safari and highly recommend; also do the early morning start. Much cooler and I saw so many animals and a wide variety of birds. On the 45min drive back we hardly saw anything except other humans, monkeys and deer. The food is delicious and the staff was very accommodating and helpful.

Slightly expensive, but worth it for the experience

Really nice location surrounded by nature and the rescued elephants. Great to relax. We also liked the walking tour we did with the hotel - the guide was very knowledgeable and we saw many rhinos. If you're an adventurer I'd rather go for the walking tour than the jeep safari (we did both). Room was nicely decorated and spacious.

really great staff at the restaurant, especially Sipak. Food was excellent. The chef came out to check on us. The rooms were comfortable with air con.
the only negative was that isn’t a swimming pool but we found one in the town :)

Breakfast could be improved, was sharing with family so wasn't a fan of the shower opening into the bedroom

Beautiful, peaceful environment. Watching elephants whilst eating breakfast. Cycling through Terai villages . Gorgeous friendly people at Sapana Lodge and in surrounding countryside.
Check in was particularly slow. Would have appreciated being shown to room early as I was unwell on arrival.

Wonderfully helpful staff and guides. Beautiful location and lots of activities offered.
The community links and conservation efforts run by the lodge ate amazing.
The waiter service was a little slow at times but everything was made from scratch.
Just needed a little tlc in places but overall lovely.

The grounds were quiet large and provided a quiet location on the edge of the town, it was a 15 minute walk to the centre.
The bar and outdoor lounge area was a great place to relax. The tour of the national park was very good with a knowledgeable guide from the hotel.
The room we booked was very small and we were moved to a bigger room after complaining, this room had a few issues that we had to request be repaired. We had arranged a pickup in town from a bus drop off point and this turned out to be a debacle, leaving us stuck on the side of the road and waiting quiet a long time. The breakfast was just okay, it should be improved both variety and quality wise. On checkout there was a charge for a activity we didn't partake in and had to have it removed.

We loved our stay at Sapana Lodge. It exceeded our expectations and would recommend anyone to visit.
Sapana is a local initiative, providing luxury tourism whilst putting profits back into the local community. They also serve as an elephant sanctuary, with 6 elephants on site that they look after well. If you are keen to get up close with elephants which are treated well, this is a great place to stay.
Location: good. 20 mins walk into the main town if you wanted to visit, but also isolated enough that it feels peaceful. Location felt safe.
Staff: really brilliant. Everyone is so friendly. They go out of their way to help you, to get to know you and your preferences. Can't recommend them highly enough.
Room: nice double room. Good size. Nicely decorated. Comfy bed. Bathroom was nice, only issue was that hot water sometimes took a while and often didn't get very hot.
General facilities: the lodge itself was well presented and felt premium. Good wifi everywhere. Nice gift shop selling local crafts.
Food: we had a range of breakfasts, lunch, dinner. All the food was very good, although not the cheapest, but still worth it.
Tours / activities : Sapana offer a wide range of activities, which to some extent can be tailored around yourselves. They were very good at going through these with us and helping us choose. These can be arranged at short notice at the venue, and they organise everything door to door, so no stress about getting into town etc. Some of these tours did feel a little expensive, however I do not know how they compare in price to tours in town - however, I would caution that if tours, eg jeep safari, are cheaper in town, then it may be as you are sharing your jeep with a lot more people, so although cheaper, the experience is worse. So overall, we were happy paying maybe potentially slightly more for a more personalised and high quality tour. Our guide for all our activities was Hemanta, who was brilliant.
Nothing, it was perfect.

It is a gorgeous property. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. The restaurant is excellent. The staff is attentive and friendly. The lodge also helps the indigenous people who live in the area.
There was no hot water in one of our rooms and it was never repaired. Also, the lodge is not in the Sauraha shopping district. To get there from the lodge requires a 20-minute walk.

Sapana has an ethos which runs through everything they do and clearly luminates the smiles of all the staff there. The location is a 10minute walk to the main tourist area, yet it is so peaceful and relaxing. Being able to interact with the elephants without endorsing elephant riding or bathing was our main attraction to the place, and this place did not disappoint, these rescued elephants are so visibly loved and cared for at Sapana! Out of all the things we have done during our 5months in Nepal, staying here was most definitely a highlight. We also highly recommend the candle light dinner with the elephants, it was a truly unique experience from the beautiful table setting to the elephant meeting. We would return to Sapana village in a heartbeat.
Nothing at all, it was perfect.

Quiet and serene environment; close to Chitwan National Park. The jungle tour and other trips to the National Park were very well organized. The staff there were very friendly too. The food was great.
While overall the facilities in the room were good, running hot water was an issue in our room on the day we arrived that caused a bit of inconvenience. It did get resolved the following day.
