Breakfast was fine.
Pleasant and extensive gardens around the pub for sitting in and having a drink.
The restaurant food was fine and we had a nice supper.
The breakfast table was laid up in your room on arrival as if you were about to eat it - cereals, jams etc. just sitting there using the only table. Write up suggested a basket of fruit, whereas it was a basket with breakfast cereals and a banana. It meant a basket with fruit and breakfast items but we felt it was written to mislead. If you stayed more than one night you would have to face that every day! Fine to have the items there already but why not in a cupboard or a small side table to one side?
Room was very dark. Of course the type of building conversion did mean windows were few and far between. It would have been nice to have a large tray to take our breakfast into the garden as it was so gloomy in the room despite being a sunny day.
The village was highly profiled by the Dove Inn as were the walking paths which in fact were all unkept and overgrown and in some cases the public footpaths were simply blocked off by locked field gates. Even the 'not to be missed' Laxton castle was not accessible and had been blocked to walkers. This of course is not The Dove Inn's responsibility.

Good food
One croissant between two people very poor, cereal boxes out of date on leaving no one to tell if you had any problems with your stay

Food in the pub was excellent
Thought the breakfast in the barn was a bit poor. Not enough jam or butter

Evening meal was great. Lovely big bedroom
Tiny bathroom and distinctly average breakfast in the room. Not even any butter for the toast! Bathroom sink was so tiny there wasn't even space for soap!

It was lovely and cosy in a quiet location and the food was fab!

Lovely location, nice and peaceful. staff were great. Lovely friendly local people in pub. food was great as always.
A few different beers would be great as my partner prefers beer and they only do Timothy Taylor, he did have a gin and tonic instead

Location special in historical village. The host/landlord was friendly and helpful. good tasty food in the pub. Comfy mattress in well equipped room. Nice and quiet.
The breakfast was 'carby' and pre-packed cereals and pastries. Toast was nice but needed some ham or cheese or other savoury option. Marmite?

Bathroom was lovely, comfy bed

I like the fact that it was very considerate of its occupants with a toilet upstairs a bathroom downstairs which is brilliant. it was very well kitted out and it was very well decorated and it was just like a little apartment.
it was cosy and welcoming, quiet and secluded. I liked having the breakfast in the room as this gave us flexibility
the TV could have been more up to date.

several room defects - window blinds broken, toilet seat loose, wall heater not working.

Lovely country pub. Cosy atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly. Our suite was great. Huge, comfy bed and beautiful bathroom. Really well equipped. Breakfast was continental and supplied to us in the evening so we could have it when we wanted in the morning. Great selection with fruit, yogurt, pastries, cereals and sourdough bread to make toast. Coffee machine, kettle, toaster and fridge in the room. Would definitely recommend.
No decaff coffee or alternative teas - however the hotel booklet did say you could ask for anything if not supplied so I'm sure you would be able to get that if required.

Would have preferred a cooked breakfast and some confusion over paying for the meal at check out

Sam, Ellie , Abbie and the team were very friendly, extremely helpful went out of their way to help us enjoy our stay.
This we did and will definatley return..
Our only issue was the beam in our room which caused Andy a few problems as he had to duck under it everytime he went across the room. Nothing to complain about though just a disadvantage to being tall.

Excellent food, great service. Very friendly and helpful. Unusual arrangement, the rooms are over old stable block across the car park, which we did not expect. Continental breakfast served in the room with fresh bread croissants etc. Room included fridge coffee maker toaster
