Really nice location, bit further away from the center. Room was really cozy. We rented a scooter at the ecolodge which was really useful to get around the island.
Breakfast is not included in the price, not a problem but since it was everywhere else just something to have in mind

Very unexpected gem hidden in the hills.

The owner was very friendly and helpful with arranging motorbike hire, guidance on where to go (how to find the national park etc) and booked our transport to Hanoi after our stay.
Room was fine, nothing fancy. Air-conditioning worked well.
It was great that they had free water available to refill our bottles and save plastic.
Due to the quite rural location, there are mosquitoes everywhere so be prepared and bring bug spray!
There's nothing around to walk to, so being confident with a scooter or bicycle is helpful if staying here.
If the rooms had re-fillable soap/shampoo dispensers rather than plastic sample packets that would be better.

The lodge is located at a beautiful place, completely surrounded by nature. The staff is extremely helpful in creating the best experience while you’re on the island. Breakfast and diner are very tasty - definitely would recommend it to stay a couple of days!

The staff at the Eco Lodge were lovely and helpful.
The location is great and the surroundings are beautiful.
The lodge is really run down and a lot more 'rustic' than the photos so wasn't as nice as expected. The pool was only half full and the bottom was slimy. The beds were hard and there was so much noise (music and dogs barking all night!) so we didn't get much sleep.
There's also not really anything 'Eco' about the lodge.

Beautiful, quiet and peaceful location to stay, especially after the hustle and bustle of Hanoi. The staff are the loveliest people you’ll ever meet; very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfy. It’s further out of town than most places, up in the beautiful mountains, but it’s an easy taxi ride to town and the pier for cruises. And the place caters to all needs incl a simple breakfast, a vast dinner menu, and drinks. You won’t want ever want to leave!

For sure the best and most charmful option on Cat Ba.
Lovely place and very friendly staff.
Also the vegeterian food has been the best we had on the island.
It is located on the countryside next to a small (artificial) lake. To get to town it takes about 20 minutes by scooter.
I can recommend one of the more expensive rooms with lake or junge view. Worth the money!

I think this was a fantastic place to stay at Cat Ba, away from the noisy city but still close. Possible to walk by foot to the National Parque entrance. Nice and clean and lovely rooms with beautiful verandas. Very professional staff, the manager spoke perfect englisk, and served both very good food and had excellent service. Very nice pool-area. We really enjoyed our stay.
I did not mind but the road leading up to the lodge was not perfect.

The cute look of the chalet and the attached balcony with lake view is really appreciated. I also like the location which is some distance away from the township. Food was delicious, I had to be careful not to overeat. Hotel also provide scooter rental which is important cos there aren't shops in the vicinity.
Could be nice to have lighting and a mosquito coil for the balcony for a romantic sit outside under the moonlight :D Bumpy dirt road leading to the resort can be challenging for new scooter riders. Scooter has very low gas when I rented and was told to find a gas station which is very far away. Suggest to always maintain half tank on behalf of tourists, can be helpful and leave more time for sightseeing.

The rooms are comfortable and clean. We loved the family dinner nights where we got to meet other travelers and taste many different Vietnamese dishes!

The location and premises are just amazing and worth paying a bit of a higher price. Room was very comfy, we especially loved the huge bed! They offer convenient services like laundry.

Breakfast was limited, but good pancakes. Was in a natural setting. Room was too dark, not enough lighting. The staff was very helpful in arranging local tourism and transport to and from the hotel. It's a bit off the beaten track. To get there we took a bus from Hanoi about three hours to the ferry point. From there a bus and then dropped off on the side of the road and picked up soon after by a taxi. Our trip out was good, door to door in Ninh Binh via taxi, bus, speed fury and mini-van

Staff were lovely, rooms were quaint and the setting is very peaceful and beautiful but a bit isolated. However you can rent mopeds which is handy.!

Good value for money.!

staff were fantastic, amazing location
Swimming pool is closed and this is not advertised, property still claims to have a pool. swimming pool was the main reason we booked the property. Lake view is actually a reservoir with a generator pumping water 24 hours a day. The constant noise made it difficult to sleep and took away from the natural atmosphere

Nice food. Welcome drinks.
The entrance has a falling down tree and not taken care of. No direction to the place from the main road. The room had uncomfortable smell even after complaining and staff taking action. Structured like a stilt house with simple floor so could hear a lot of noise at night (baby crying, people coughing and talking). Swimming pool was not clean with lots of moss. The experience was far below the expectations respective to the price. The accommodation owners may try to replace commercial and cheap shampoo and bath soap with herbal stuffs in bottle to be more green.

The location and staff is amazing!!! Rooms are fine!
It feels like Covid hit them and maintenance is not their priority at the moment which is a shame. Hope the place will be alive again because it can be an amazing place

It's a safe haven! Having your own chalet is pure bliss! The staffs are super friendly and considerate. The manager/ owner is super helpful and suggested a few things about where to go and what to do in town. The place is perfect for families, friends, or even couples. We stayed for 5 days and want to go back soon.

We were so happy to have cooked meals and a quiet stay in the "middle of nowhere". Although we were there very very off-peak, it's clear to see why Eco Lodge is a great place in the summer. There's a pool, hammocks, barbacue pit, dogs, pool table, bar, motorbikes, a garden, the list goes on and one. Lam was so nice to even book us a boat tour at a good price. Everything was taken care of on our wonderful adventure.
There's nothing negative to say. I would advise anyone to bring all necessary toiletries and snacks. There's no fridge, if you were even looking for one but it's so minimal.

There was just one narrow window. Would have been much better had there been windows showing the nature outside. Towels were not absorbent. No options near the hotel for eating. We had to take a 30-minute taxi ride to the town to try other restaurants.
