Beautiful location. Very helpful staff who booked a room for me late when I came out a day early from a hike. Facilities are great. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again.
The showers tended to generate a lot of condensation and it could pool where you put your things and it was a little unclear how much you were meant to clean up. They may benefit from shower domes over the showers.

Location has great access to the Greenstone and Routeburn tracks.
Also being on the lake and looking over to Glenorchy is good.
The historic building we were in was continually popping a fuse but no obvious way to contact someone after hours. Power outlets for charging phones were dead.

The lcoation was great, it was nice and peaceful with great views of the lake and moutains. It also wasn’t far from the Routeburn track (though allow time to drive along the gravel road).
You had to go outside to use the toilets/showers which can be pretty cold. The shower rooms had 10 min timers which was fine but went off even if you were changing. The top bunk was really close to the ceiling so would be quite difficult for a taller person to sit upright.

Kinloch is beautiful and remote and worth a visit. However travellers should note that the road is partially unsealed. The rooms don’t have ensuite toilets and bathrooms, or tea making facilities - instead there are shared toilets and showers and a guest kitchen. The kitchen doesn’t stock the usual complementary tea and coffee etc but looks more like a hostel kitchen. And smells like it too 😩 The view from the rooms is outstanding, however. And the sky at night is spectacular. We had dinner at the on-site restaurant/ cafe and were happy with our experience.
The shared toilets and showers etc were a challenge for my elderly mother. The locking system would also have been well and truly beyond her. So perhaps the place is positioned more for younger people?

amazing location and truly felt like it was remote and peaceful. great staff, friendly and always willing to help, a great family run business.
single bed in the Super King room was terrible and cheap, at least for an adult. I was travelling with a mate after 5 days climbing in the mountains.

Stayed here for a night and had a lovely time. Superb scenery with lots of space on decks etc to enjoy the views. Loved the hot tub!

A good after hours availability well communicated. Basic hostel style accommodation but with lovely old fashioned comfort that we are used to expect from many previous stays at this establishment.

Location is beautiful, some of the staff and the owner were friendly.
Sorry to say that facilities were very run down, kitchen was quite dirty and everything shared with the YHA accomodation, which is fine except it doesn’t justify the price of the rooms.
Some of the staff were rude or seemed oblivious to the fact we were guests.

All was good.

An absolutely magic location. The restaurant meals were excellent. Staff were very friendly. Use of a spa pool with a magnificent mountain view, and a yurt for yoga.
The room was a little noisy from other rooms nearby.

You can use the hottub for free. Really nice views.
The beds were really loud. With four people in one room there‘s basically always some loud noise from the beds. It sounds like you can eat breakfast for free but it‘s not included.

the location was scenic
The property was misrepresented on booking.com. The favorable reviews automatically come up first when viewing. I didn’t realize this until after we left. I re-sorted the reviews after we left and saw all the unfavorable reviews. Had I done this before we would not have booked. It was very remote and the accommodations were more rundown than the photos depict. Being a visitor to the country, I was not familiar with the area. The cost of the stay is high for what you get. I think it should be emphasized that this is very remote, the private rooms have shared bathrooms, etc. We booked for 3 nights but left after one. There’s no refund but we were willing to lose our money because we were uncomfortable. The power went out in the morning so that accelerated our departure. I see that the lodge often responds to negative reviews by blaming the guests for not being suited for the area or not reading the fine print. The host should be more forthright in representing themselves. I spoke to some locals in Queenstown and learned that the lodge is known for letting the property go and misrepresenting itself. The private rooms in the lodge are more like a hostel. I later found the lodge’s own website and see that the photos there misrepresent the property even more. I will pursue a partial refund through my credit card company.

Beautiful area, really secluded and peaceful. A great base for a lot of hikes in the area. Food is great for such a remote place and I was very happy to have a vegan option. (Though it was a little on the pricey side!) Shared kitchen is well equipped with a nice common seating area.
I stayed in one of the private rooms and it was incredibly cold. There was a plug in heater but I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving it on through the night. Hot water bottles and blankets are provided which helps but that doesn't solve the issue. It's something I think other guests should be prepared for.
