Short break in Paignton

Friendly, helpful and obligating hosts. Lovely comfortable room and en suite showerroom with tea/coffee facilities, toiletries, and a chocolate mint each day. Excellent breakfast. Full English not tried but alternatives, eggs with smoked salmon and American pancakes with fruit and maple syrup were delicious.

Very central location.train and bus station just around the corner so hop on and visit Brixham. Dartmouth etc.The hosts of the hotel were lovely.

No much to do in Paighton was a bit like the quiet end of Llandudno!

Perfect stay.

Merritt house is a lovely place to stay. The room had a lovely shower, comfortable bed with a fan above for air conditioning. The room provided a kettle with tea and coffee available. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The location is perfect as it is in the centre of town and close to everything, including the pier. It’s a 40 minute walk to the zoo which was perfect. We will definitely be staying again. Thank you. :).

Comfortable, good value, handy for Paignton & Brixham.

Very friendly and helpful owners, who happily accommodated our request for an early breakfast. Breakfast itself was good, well-cooked and sufficient without our being over-faced. The bed was comfortable with nice linen, and the bathroom clean and well-supplied.

Car parking is limited. Although it advertises 4 spaces, the narrow access makes these tricky even for a medium-sized car, especially if larger vehicles are already parked. There is some free street parking, and we were never stuck, but sometimes had to make multiple tours around the block looking/waiting. Our room was smallish, with limited storage & hanging space, but we were only there for 3 nights, not a problem.

Very enjoyable

Breakfast had a good, varied menu, all food was well presented and tasty. not quite enough parking for all guests but free road parking nearby. house position near to harbour and sea front. This was ideal for us as family live nearby who we were visiting.

We really liked it here so no problems to report.

Annabelle stay in paignton.

Owners couldn't do enough with nice little touches including a communal fridge with fresh milk to take to your room.An amazing king bed. Also easy parking & location great for both sea front &town centre

We requested a vegan breakfast and I have to say Melissa cooked a delicious vegan breakfast every day for us. The central location was perfect for exploring the area with easy access to the bus and train stations and also was a short walk to the sea front .

A Good Place To Stay

Great location close to everything. Warm welcome from Andy and his lovely lady. Onsite parking. Comfy bed. Room very clean with everything you could want in it including an iron Toiletries supplied. Small but well appointed en suite Lots of information about the local area and things to do. Outstanding breakfast cooked to order Lots of choices. Got the feeling nothing was too much trouble and everything done with care and attention to detail Plates and cutlery in the dining room if you wanted to bring in a takeaway

Only minor issue Shower could be a bit variable early in the morning

situated in an excellent location. In a quiet side street (with limited private parking) but very close to all amenities - very short walk into town; close to railway and bus station, very close to sea front. we didn't need to use the car during our whole stay. The hosts - Andy and Melissa are very friendly and knew everybody by their first name. Nothing is too much trouble! The room was very clean and comfortable and equipped to a high standard. They have thought of everything you may need!! Breakfast was very good with wide variety and choice. Just need to fill in your request form for breakfast the night before. All in all an excellent stay and would definitely recommend.

Didnt have breakfast. Location was fab. Short walk to all amenities, bus station trains station harbour, shopping cafes etc.

Perfect short stay and the sun was shining most of the time!

Melissa & Andy were very good hosts, making sure I was comfortable and responding very quickly to any requests. Breakfast was lovely, with a huge choice - the pancakes were wonderful. Location is perfect, short walk to train station, shops & seafront.

The cooked breakfasts were excellent and very good value. As for the location of the Merritt House was very close to all amenities shops, transport links, and beach. The house was exceptionally clean.

Welcoming staff (couldn’t do enough) for us! Breakfast was EXCELLENT… Great location. Comfortable beds.

Heating: wasn’t on enough so room got chilly. Extra blankets were kindly provided in the rooms… the ambient temperature just needs a little tweak 😀.
