The managers (Lisa and Stuart) were extremely welcoming and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and help with our plans, which made it felt more like a B&B than a hotel.
Active Life is in a great location close to the mountain. The room was a good size and there were plenty of communal spaces to hang out. We’d definitely stay at Active Life again for future trips to Madarao!

What a lovely find. The hosts Lisa and Stuart cannot do enough for all the guests. Most comfortable beds. Large spacious areas . Love the hot tub. Great food breakfast and dinners . Cool little bar. Barista coffee available. Short easy stroll to lifts .

Loved our stay at Active Life. Lisa, Stuart & all the team were fantastic & very welcoming. The hotel is in a prime location with a short walk to the ski slopes & has many great restaurants closeby. The onsite restaurant has lovely meals with daily specials, so we choose to dine in most nights. There is a bar for drinks, a game's room with a pool table & table tennis plus an onsite hot spa. Breakfast was buffet style with daily specials of hot meals made to order, eg, eggs, pancakes, french toast, etc. Rooms are warm, comfy & clean . Beds were heaven. Thanks again, Lisa, for making our stay so special . We will be back & recommending Active Life Madarao to all ⛷️❄️☃️
Nothing at all

Great service, especially Ms. Praew who had done everything to assure our comfort during our stay. Room is spacious and located jyst few step from ski lift.
It would be much better if onsen is improved. Room amenities should be added, especially regarding to Japanese standard such as shower cap, toothbrush, information about room cleaning shoukd be informed and flexible if guest requests etc.

guest-facing staff were excellent - professional, attentive, and friendly
room was comfortable - simply renovated but had everything needed
very comfortable bed and duvet
public areas were clean, spacious, and comfortable
as always towards the end of the season the room housekeeping was 70% not 100% (some dusty surfaces, bath in the room was not completely clean)
onsen requires clothes which felt odd (also the mineral analysis chart wasn't displayed, so couldn't tell what sort of onsen water it was). However the big bath was nicely renovated with a lovely view.

Super friendly staff. Fresh cooked eggs at breakfast. Nice comfy new beds.
“Onsen” requires bathing suits (which we don’t take on ski trips usually). There is regular Onsen at the hotel nearby however.

Amazing value, location and service. Great facilities and has everything you need. Super comfortable beds and the food/entertainment was great too.
I liked the views from the room, as well as the short walk to the chairlift.
Most of the staff were super friendly too.
The assistant Manager went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay, and Lisa is always available from the moment you get up to the moment you go to bed for any help you need.
It is hard to fault overall, the only potential improvements would be to offer snow resort transfer to other nearby resorts, and improve the attitude of the tiny minority of the staff that didn’t seem to care too much about customer service 101. (Mainly the European guy at reception on his laptop)

The room was good sized and location was quite convenient being next to the bus stop, local eateries and a 5 minute walk up to the ski lifts. The staff were wonderful. I left my wallet in the safe and they promptly mailed it to my hotel in Tokyo. They have both Western and Japanese staff that are bilingual.
Nothing.

Lisa and Stewart run the most incredible and welcoming establishment I’ve ever stayed in! Everything was faultless, from the moment I arrived I was treated with such warmth and kindness and made to feel entirely at home. I have also never slept in a more comfortable bed in my life! The location is but a stones throw from the chairlifts and next door to the best burger joint you could dream of, Unjaune. I’ll be back! No doubt!

The location is perfect - very close to the mountain and local restaurants.
Overall experience was disappointing. We’ve stayed at Active Life a few times and it’s sad to say that this trip was a let down. A few call outs:
- The rooms don’t get cleaned unless requested. Even with being eco friendly it would have been great to have our room made up every few days ie beds made and bins cleaned. Especially when staying for over a week.
- There were no fresh towels for the onsen or kimono/ slippers like they used to have.
- The bar used to be a great spot and this time it felt very flat and isolated.
- The drying room wasn’t warm enough so our gear after a day in the snow was still wet / damp the next day.
- There is a coffee machine and grinder in the middle of the hotel, which at 6:30am every day is turned on and wakes you up.
We have experienced Active Life when it was at its best so we’re disappointed this time around. We sadly won’t be returning after this visit.

We had a great time at Active Life and Lisa and Stuart are fantastic hosts/managers and very helpful. We didn’t end up eating out for dinner as my son was very happy with the meals at the restaurant and didn’t want to go anywhere else. We would come back again.
Nothing! It was a great stay!

cozy and warm hotel:)people are very nice and helpful here.the restaurant is nice too,got some great experience here.so honored to be your first guest of your hotel:)

The hotel is centrally located, it's very closed to the ski lift chairs and right opposite to the local restaurants. We love that there are things to do within the hotel at night time. Their in-house bar with the wide range of craft beer is a definitely a hidden gem in the village and there are a lot of activities in their playroom that kept my daughter entertained while we were enjoying our craft beer. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.... nothing more to ask for. We will definitely stay there again on our next ski trip.
Nothing I can think of!

I had the most amazing time at Active Life Madarao. Ploy, the manager was super helpful and met everyone of my requests with a smiling face. My room was beautiful, clean and modern with comfy beds - great value! I explored the grounds mostly on my own and as a single female traveler, never once felt unsafe - surprisingly good snow in Spring! Ploy's efficient and friendly hospitality made me feel right at home, and by the end of my short stay, I very much felt a part of the Active Life family - thank you!
Spring was a little quiet with few dining options but being the off season, one wouldn't expect the resort to be bustling. The entrance was also a little confusing to navigate but I got through with Ploy's help :)
