Great place to stay

The location was excellent, right in the centre. I was in a dorm but during off season so it was just two of us in the dorm and it was very quiet. The bar downstairs is good with nice cocktails
The showers were cold but very clean

Nice staff, cool room, the building is quite nice. Not much to complain.
I guess if I have to put something here it's that the showers take forever to get hot. But that's a problem all over ecuador, so I can't really hold it against them.

Nice place, very spacious with a very nice patio and a quite good restaurant. Would go there again. Ask for a quiet room if you prefer.
Reception is sometimes without attention. It's basically okay, but room keys are not completely hidden.

Beautiful old building remodeled and converted into a hostel in a very central part of downtown Cuenca. Spacious dorm room and medium sized lockers a plus.
I assumed that a 'hostel' is traveller-friendly but this was more like a hotel with dorm options. Staff were friendly but didn't make any effort to tell me about what to see in Cuenca or getting to/from Cajas or Ingapirca. I was disappointed to realize that the kitchen was only for the expensive restaurant and there wasn't so much as a microwave, knife and cutting board or hot water on offer to prepare simple meals.

Very big room. Friendly staff. Clean and very big bathroom.
Room was in ground floor, so without curtains closed the people in the garden and restaurant had a direct view on our bed..

The location is very good and the restaurant is very pleasant
Some of the private rooms are next to the restaurant. The restaurant is supposed to close at 11 but it was still full of people at 11:30. All the noise from the restaurant comes to the room. Also, sometimes there are live bands playing in the restaurant that makes a lot of noise, too.
Most of the staff doesn't speak English.

The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, the price for the private room with private bathroom was very reasonable (both were very beautifully decorated), and the general vibe of the hostel was really lovely. I wish I could have stayed longer to be able to watch the live music that they had on some nights.
The wifi signal wasn't the strongest in some areas of the bedroom, but it was totally fine in the public areas.
7.0
The location.
The food in the restaurant is very good.
There is a restaurant inside the hostel. it really felt like the restaurant was the priority and the bedrooms were an extra. There was live music/ stand up comedy on every night I was there, it was so loud and when it went on past the advertised time and I complained, I was made to feel like I was being boring/ unreasonable. guests should be able to rest at any time in their rooms and not depending on the schedule of events at the restaurant. if I had known about these events, I wouldn’t have booked. I wouldn’t stay again.

Food, special requests, service.

Good location, nice staff, large room, comfortable bed, and clean facilities.
It was hard to sleep at night. Many rooms, including ours, had an opening at the top of a wall, which allows some natural light to reach hallways. What that also means though is that at night light from hallways gets into the room and worst of all, because there are sensors that turn lights on when someone walks by, multiple times a night we were woken up by bright light going straight into our room. The hostel should put up some barrier or curtain so guests can block that wall gap at night. Recommend that poor sleepers ask the hostel at the time of reservation if their room has a gap like this and if there's a light sensor outside.

Located really centrally so easy to get almost everywhere on foot. The place is decorated really well and the on site restaurant is nice.
I had a double room which turned out to be a bunk bed, which was no big deal as I was travelling alone but not what I thought I’d be getting.
The main issue seems that the rooms accessed by the patio/courtyard area of the hostel are very close to the restaurant (which is open to guests and the public from 8am till 10.30pm Monday-Saturday and 8am - 12pm Sundays) and general seating area. This means that you hear everything that goes on in the restaurant so if you want an early night or just a quiet night, you won’t get it staying in one of these rooms. I stayed for three nights and on the first a band was playing till 11pm; on the second day I was woken by people having breakfast but while the restaurant closed in the afternoon, another guest was playing music in the seating area during the evening till 10.30pm; and on the third night there was an event till 11pm with lots of screaming and shouting. The walls are also pretty thin so you can hear people walking around in the rooms above and talking in the rooms next door.
While I was not annoyed enough to complain, the whole experience was a disappointment for me. I wish I knew all this before booking so sharing this information for others.

Nice beds. Room was big. Lockers in the room.
Location is great. Food at the café is delicious (but pricey).
It's a bit noisy from the street. The shower wasn't great. Not so easy to meet other travellers here. No breakfast included.
6.0
big rooms with high ceilings
that we had to pay a $5 cover to eat in the restaurant just because there was a band... and they only told us after we ordered. this feels like it should be included for guests :)
