Nice place to stay and they worked with me when I had an issue with my reservation. The common areas were great and the location to the main plaza was ideal.
Bathrooms weren’t very clean and frequently out of toilet paper.

Very nice Hostal in central Cuenca

It's a cool hostel, really cozy, with good and polite staff members. Enjoyed my stay!!!
Not enough toilets, it's really annoying + times of reception closure (3-7am) since it's very oldschool solution in hostels (you don't have a key so cannot enter after 3 am unless you get a deal with staff for additional fee).
Also only one of the staff members fluently speaks English, i believe this is a must in such places.

Great location, friendly staff, rooms had big lockers
the reception hours are 7-3 and they lock the door outside of those so you have to go find someone to unlock it for you. The water in the shower was either boiling hot or freezing as well

Clean rooms, clean and spacious bathrooms with hot water, strong WiFi. Well equipped kitchen and good location offering good value.
A slight nuisance is that the front door is generally bolted closed and so you have to find a staff member to let you out or wait to come in.
One female staff member at reception seems more interested in her phone than the guests!

Great location. Staff allowed us to store our bags and relax in the common areas before our night bus☺️
Walls are thin and can hear a lot.

The location only 2 blocks away from the Parque Calderon, 10min street car ride from the bus station, the kitchen well equipped (a lot of dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, kettle, blinder), big room with big lockers, very nice and helpful staffs.
I didn’t bother me at all but for others it might, the is no curtain around the bunk bed or the single beds I. The dorm and it is a old house with wooden floor which is noisy when people walk but again, I didn’t care at all.

Perfect location, few minutes walk from the centre and about 15 min walk to Pumapungo archeological park. Everything you need is nearby, good restaurants and shops, and a huge market a couple of blocks away. The staff were very friendly and accommodating - we had to wait in the city a long time for a night bus to Peru, and the staff allowed us to stay in the hostel and relax in the common areas, really kind! It felt very secure, they lock the front door at 11pm. Great kitchen for cooking your own food too. Even though it is a little cold in Cuenca at night, there are enough blankets on the beds.
A little noisy at times, but it did not stop us from sleeping :)

The hostel is excellent, there is a fully equipped and comfortable kitchen, the location is excellent and the staff is nice and helpful. Excellent value for money
Weak flow of hot water in the shower

Room was big and bright and bed was comfortable.
No hot water for shower either day and wifi was very hit or miss

The room was very big
The hosts weren't welcoming nor friendly.
In the rooms downstairs there is no WiFi, only in the ones upstairs. And also you hear every step from the upstairs.
There is no hot shower. And if there is, the stream is very low.
Every time we wanted to go out or get in the hostel stuff had to come and open the lock on the door, which was annoying. Why can't we enter freely?!... We ended up waiting to leave and reenter for a few minutes each time.
They say the silence hours are from 23:00 to 7:00 but there were kids were playing ping pong after 23:30.

Interior is nice with a good equipped kitchen
It was very noisy. Everytime someone was walking in the hallway my bed would be shaking.

Staff was friendly. It’s reasonably priced. Kitchen was clean!
I arrived late at night (1 am) and the door was closed. On the door was a paper with the message to call a number. However I cannot make calls with my dutch phone in ecuador! Luckily my taxi driver came out with me and called them for me, otherwise I could not have entered the hostel.
A bit of a weird ambiance, not very social.

The hostel itself is a very beautiful building.
if were not allowed/able to get into the hostel after 11pm. If you wanted to you had to pay a 'tip' to the staff. The staff and guests were odd, the atmosphere was a bit uneasy. The floors are very noisy so you could hear everything.

Close to everything, great staff, very clean, great guitar licks at times.

The room very big and high
The structure of the hotel remember us an old house
The floor is in wood and so when the people walk, there is a lot of noise.
The bed was not confortable.
The welcome in the hostel was not so kind

Good location
We had a difficult time staying at this hostel, and changed as soon as we had the chance.
First of all, the doors close at 11 pm. So the information on Booking.com saying that they have a 24/7 front desk is not right. We said we would arrive at the hostel at 12 pm when we booked, and they accepted our request. However, when we contacted the hostel to let them know that our bus was delayed (at 11 pm) they said that there was nothing they could do, and that they had all gone to sleep. We had to a argue a bit back and forth in order for them to arrange for someone to wait up for us. Apparently you could come later in exchange for a fee, but the staff did not tell us that after 3 am there is no one there. So we were locked out of the hostel our second night there .
In addition to this they wanted us to pay the full price for a bigger room because the one we had booked in Booking.com was not available after all. The staff did not take any responsibility for the miscommunication between them and booking.com, and we were put in a very uncomfortable situation

Location and price
There is a 11pm curfew which they don't warn you about. If you come later, you have to pay the volunteers to open the door ($3).There's never handsoap or toilet paper in the bathrooms, and the hot shower never works. The staff is a bit uninterested though friendly at times.
