Like staying in a old fogies hospice

Location was perfect situated at the end town with lovely views over the country side, the size of the room was good, very clean. Jan, the manager, was exceptionally helpful

Une autre dame était présente en soirée (différente de celle que j'ai eue au téléphone). Elle a été agréable;
- Il y a une chouette salle commune avec un billard;
- Le chat présent est adorable. Attention, il aime se faufiler dans les chambres donc soyez vigilants !
Les poules sur le parking donnent un côté chaleureux à l'endroit;

did not interact much with the hosts but the place was friendly
a bit more info on the facilities in the room would have been nice - ie wifi password and purchased breakfast

This lodge has its own beautiful character! Super value for money and the location is the best! It is near to everything in Catlins! We loved the super fresh and clean bed linens and free coffee! The owner is friendly too!
Nothing. Previous comments show they’ve got seasonal workers staying but they’re friendly!

It should have been advertised as a place with seasonal workers staying.
Also other people who live there who played music till the early morning.
No staff present at all.

Reasonably spacious family room. Quaint former hospital was interesting.
Basic motel style kitchen facilities. Able to utilise shared kitchen but not ideal for family use. Tired decor. More suitable for backpacker style traveller.

sheets and towels we’re clean, beds were comfortable
great location to explore the Catlins
there was a strong smell of urine in the kitchen cupboard where all the crockery was kept, the hot water unfortunately is run by coal fire so not realistic for morning showers and should be advertised
General lack of maintainable, windows didn’t shut as didn’t have latches. place needs a deep clean
Heating would not get you through a cold night.

The story of the hospital
The musty smell in the end corridor and the unclean state of the fume hoods in the kitchen

The staff was very flexible for early check in and store our baggage after checked out. The shared kitchen facility was bonus for us.
It would be good it they provide a wire wool to help cleaning the pots in the kitchen. One of the stove in the kitchen playing up(The elements are not controllable). It would be better to repair it before busy season.

Jan was very helpful and friendly. It was great being allowed my dog there too.

Handy location.
I ended up not staying because the unit lacked several items listed in the Booking.com site. It was presented as though they were in the unit, whereas they were only in the facilty overall. The advertising is poorly worded since it does not make clear what exactly is in the unit and which items are not. The When I arrived someone was smoking pot.The facility is dilapidated and run down. When I raised this the manager was unapologetic and ill-disposed.

Interesting building but a lovely clean and friendly place to call home for 4 nights. Would highly recommend. Thanks Jan and staff

Cute wee caravan for my daughter and I to stay in. Nice location and good communication with owner(s). Great that we could bring our small breed dog.

Our room was very private being upstairs with own kitchenette.
Room was a bit cramped for four and all our gear.

We had a family room with two single beds and a double with an attached bathroom. There was also a TV and a jug to make a cup of tea. It was clean and comforatble.
We were'nt stoked about the communal kitchen area. it felt a bit grubby. We went out for fish n chips

The facility manager was so kind and helpful. The facility was huge with a mix of both short and long term guests.
The facility was old and given its history that was not unexpected.

I emailed to request gluten free breakfast as my husband is coeliac I didn’t hear back so we prepared our own breakfast
There was a very, very musty odour in all the rooms that I found quite challenging
